      +Tom Pritchard Nails felt like the right way to go with this project (except on the seats, which I screwed in place). They were cheaper than self tapping screws and faster than having to drill counter-bores, counter-sinks and pilot holes. Thank you for watching!

      +Michael Trent Since I used glue as well, it didn't seem like any part of it needed screws except for the seats. I chose to screw the seats in place as an extra measure against nails maybe becoming proud one day and causing injury. I appreciate your watching.

    Hi Steve, I can't get over the point that you are a Grandparent! What did I do wrong to get these grey hairs and still no sign of Grandkiddies on their way yet! I love the see saw, it was well made and it seems very kiddy friendly! N.

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Neil “Slugger” George Well I am getting lots of gray hairs. But I'm only 42. The 4 grandkids are from our two step-daughters. Technically, they're my wife's step-daughters and my step-step-daughters. I've know them since they were little kids, possibly longer than my wife has. Long story.
      Thanks for watching.

    • @disconeil
      @disconeil 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Long story, Amen to that! I too have a stepdaughter and two biological sons and at 45 I cannot wait for Grandchildren. Curse their need for education (University and Apprenticeships) Only joking. Thanks for taking time to reply Steve, I enjoy your channel and am a subscriber of some time. I find quite alot of your humour quite British??? if that makes sense!!! Regards. N.

    Excellent build and outdoor gift from a woodworking Grandpa! You "nailed it" that time. Has it gotten painted yet or just turned gray? What's next a treehouse? Thanks for sharing Steve.

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +MRrwmac Thank you. It was left natural. It's pressure treated wood so at least it's got decent weather resistance.

  • @JWAM
    @JWAM 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice job, Mr. Man! From the last angle, it looked pretty high. I'll keep an eye out on news about any orbiting girls.

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +JWAM Haha, that's a real possibility. There's a lower setting, which is how I set it up at their house. What is shown here is just my test assembly. And the picture in the thumbnail is in my driveway on Christmas day. I wasn't sure which height setting it would need when I set it up that morning. As shown, is the perfect "man-sized" setting. Two of us adults had a little ride on it to "test it".

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James Rawlings No, it was left as raw [pressure treated] lumber. I thought about painting it but just didn't have enough time. I had a whole list of projects going and crunch time was rapidly approaching. Thank you for watching :)

    Great Project Steve! It's been a long time since I built anything with 2x lumber. Hey Steve do you have a shop separate from the house, it appears you have plenty of room to build?

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +woodrat1952 Thank you, Sir! My shop is 1-1/2 bays of an attached 3-1/2 bay garage. Plus I use the middle bay for wood (and other stuff) storage. My wife's car gets most of the final bay. My shop, however, doesn't really have a lot of open floor space. 8-foot long projects like this push the limits of my build space.

    Hi Steve,
    How much would you recommend selling the See-saw for?

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, Sand Smith, sorry for the delayed response (I just now saw your question). Personally, I'd shoot for somewhere in the $175 - $225 range. But really, I'm not sure how much they would actually sell for. I certainly wouldn't accept less than $150.
      I actually get quite a few inquiries from people wanting to buy them from me. But they've all been out of town and shipping something like this would be very costly due to both size and weight. When my new shop is built, I'll be making one or two to try selling locally though.

  • @pcorlis

    Steve, as usual a very entertaining video. I especially liked the precision angled fence you made for the crosscut sled. Great work, I am sure the see-saw will see plenty of use. Paul, a.k.a. paulsmessyworkshop on TH-cam

    Any way I can get the modified plans you are using? I am building two for our chruch kids. Thanks

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry, I'm just now seeing this comment. It was in my "possible SPAM" folder. Sorry, I don't have plans with the modifications. The changes I made are visible in the video. I think the only things I really changed are that I added extra bracing in a few areas, such as at the base where the uprights attach. And possibly along the length of the arm, but it's been awhile so I can't recall. It seems like I added about 5 extra parts in total. But again, it's been awhile, so I apologize for not being very helpful.
      Thank you very much for watching. I really appreciate the support!

    How in the world do you break two 8 foot long 2x6s into one 12 foot section, two 2 foot sections, and one 3 foot section???

    • @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff
      @SteveFrenchWoodNStuff  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      One 12 inch (1 foot, I think I misspoke in the video), two 2 foot, and one 3 foot.
