One thing I love about this time period 60’s-70’s was that, it was raw talent. There were almost no electronic effects for instruments. Everything was just the ability of the musicians to make their instruments sing with their natural abilities. I’m so glad I got to be part of that time period. Love your reaction guys. I may be old now but I won't ever regret being a teen in the 60's. We had the most creative, amazing artists living in the San Francisco area. They were everywhere. Great song choice. You asked how these musicians found each other. Hi guys, Sherri Mann from New Hampshire here. I've been patient, enjoying all your reactions to my favorite band QUEEN, and after seeing this reaction, I have to request that you watch Angelina Jordan's cover of "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU" (black & white video). She's 9 when she made this and so far, it's the best version I have heard to date. She did it as a tribute to Screamin' Jay Hawkins, the original writer and singer. Great reaction guys! "Long as I can see the light" is definitely a good choice for next time, believe me. I'm really enjoying your channel, keep going!
Although this band hailed from California, I believe, their sound became known as “swamp rock”...referencing the Bayous of Louisiana......one of their early hits was called “Down on the Bayou” and it just stuck. If you are not familiar with bayous or that part of America, you should google it. It’s a very unique part of the country. I think of CCR as “Southern Rock” because of the style, but I get scolded for that because the band did not come from the South. I think where a band fits in genres should be determined by sound, not where the band comes from. But I’m usually overruled. ;-)
Some 200 artists have covered this iconic Screamin' Jay Hawkins song from 1956. The CCR cover is great, one of my favorites, & I thank you for reacting to it. The other cover that I really like is by Nina Simone. Then I watched the black & white video released by the young Norwegian prodigy, Angelina Jordan, and it became my new favorite. She was nine years old when her cover came out, but she might have recorded it when she was eight, shortly after she won Norway's Got Talent. I would love to see you react to it. You will be astonished. Please don't let the "child singer" thing put you off. She is no ordinary child. Her real name is Angelina Jordan Astar, and she really is A Star. Jordan is her middle name. Her fans are many, & fiercely loyal. If you react to anything by her, they will find you, subscribe, give you playlists and tell you all about her, including why she always performs barefoot. She is fluent in at least three languages, Norwegian, Persian/Iranian, and English, and probably has some Swedish and Japanese. She will be 15 in January. Guys, in the 60’s there was an E-X-P-L-O-S-I-O-N of neighborhood “garage bands” all across America (they practiced in the garage of one or more of their parents home - garage band). The Baby Boomers were a huge generation of young people that were anxious to break away from their parents generation of conformity, to create their own path of individualism and explore a new way of thinking and living in society - questioning everything. The bands were made up of friends that lived in the immediate neighborhood and friends in school. Very few bands were successful beyond playing school dances and backyard parties. CCR was one of them.
This has been covered by other people. The original hit was made by Screamin’ Jay Hawkins in the 1956 and it’s more intense than CCR’s. React to that one. Another cover was by Nina Simone with a different interpretation. Try that one, too?
Okay guys it's time to do this iconic song /video and see what the 60's were all about. Peace! IRON BUTTERFLY - IN A GADDA DA VIDA - 1968 (ORIGINAL FULL VERSION) th-cam.com/video/UIVe-rZBcm4/w-d-xo.html
A few great songs from 70s for you to check out is Closer To Home by Grand Funk Railroad and For Your Love by Humble Pie. Live performances are how you want to listen to these bands as music was expression in those days way more so than most of today's music is IMHO. Also, Steve Marriott vocalist for Humble Pie was Robert Plant's idol when he was in his previous band The Small Faces. Just listen to You Need Lovin' by The Small Faces and you will hear it.
Good quality live performances? Check out the live version of "Suzie Q" which was included on the 40th anniversary edition of their self-titled album, their first. It's over 11 minutes long and is an excellent jam. I think it's the best version they did. Or check out the 1970 Oakland concert performance of "Keep on Chooglin'". Both are pretty easy to find on youtube. Three of them met in high school, and the 4th is an older brother, so they'd been playing together for about a decade before they hit it big.
Ok guys I just watched your “Fade to black” reaction video and I absolutely loved it. I’ve watched most of your videos up to this point and I think it’s time that y’all are introduced to Tool. You said that you like the slow build at the beginning and then the straight up rocking out. So I would love to see y’all react to “Pneuma”. The live version where Danny (the drummer) has a drum cam on him. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!! I PROMISE!!!!! By the way they’re like the Pink Floyd of our time. You’ll absolutely enjoy it.
all the bands, well, Most of the bands back then were musicians, they were trying to create their dream or at least get it out there! And so many diff genres of music...
Ok u have 2 hear Anjelica Jordan’s version of “I put a spell on you”. She was 10 yrs old when she sang it. It is every bit as good as this version. Esp as she is only 10. Just INSANE. It’s A MUST. SERIOUSLY Try listening to her when she completed in Norway’s Got Talent when she was JUST 7 yrs old. No one at that age shud b able 2 sing like that. She sang BANG BANG. SUMMERTIME. GLOOMY SUNDAY U will not b disappointed. Also listen to her version of STAY. BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY. YELLOW BRICK ROAD. think she is 14. For such a young artist I can’t wait 2 hear her as she ages All the vocal coaches that have heard her r just dumbstruck. They have NO WORDS as she is so young. I know eng isn’t ur 1st language so I hope u can read English. Lol. Ur eng is pretty good btw. Fr across the waters Canada 🇨🇦 🐥🐥🐥hugs 2 all
This is a great rock cover by CCR of this song and I love it. If you’re interested in a slightly better version, check out Nina Simone’s version for a jazz blues twist. She puts a passion into it that is bar none.

Black Sabbath into the void
Heard it through the grapevine is fucking awesome.
Try the live versions, there next level great.
Kill me this song!!!.....Oh...!!!
Down on the Corner, Suzy Q, Looking out my back door and Bad Moon rising are all good
A few great songs from 70s for you to check out is Closer To Home by Grand Funk Railroad and For Your Love by Humble Pie.
John Fogerty is playing the guitar on this too. Amazing talent. Fogerty is the Tom Jones of rock.
Get some Black Sabbath on your channel, Into the Void, Supernaut, or War Pigs of course (Paris Live 1970)..
You guys have to do Black Sabbath one of the best rock bands in my book try supernaut or syptom of the universe they are so good!!
I was subscriber # 7000. Do their Ramble Tamble it will blow you away. Great job guys keep up the great work.
I can never choose between ccr and screaming jay hawkins. Year round I listen to ccr but at halloween it's screaming jay, both are fab
John Mayer
Slow Dancing in a Burning room live at the nokia, if you love tasty guitar playing and beautiful musical solos
You should listen and watch the live video...it is so much more.
Have you checked out the Righteous Brothers "That loving feeling" yet? You have to, if you have not. :)
Thanks for the request Sarah :)
all the bands, well, Most of the bands back then were musicians, they were trying to create their dream or at least get it out there! And so many diff genres of music...
Ok u have 2 hear Anjelica Jordan’s version of “I put a spell on you”. She was 10 yrs old when she sang it. It is every bit as good as this version. Esp as she is only 10. Just INSANE. It’s A MUST. SERIOUSLY
Try listening to her when she completed in Norway’s Got Talent when she was JUST 7 yrs old.
For such a young artist I can’t wait 2 hear her as she ages
All the vocal coaches that have heard her r just dumbstruck. They have NO WORDS as she is so young.
I know eng isn’t ur 1st language so I hope u can read English. Lol. Ur eng is pretty good btw.

This is a great rock cover by CCR of this song and I love it. If you’re interested in a slightly better version, check out Nina Simone’s version for a jazz blues twist. She puts a passion into it that is bar none.
Angelina Jordans cover of this song is amazing too!
YO SOY EL QUE SOY..🇨🇱🇨🇱🇨🇱💥💥💥
John, Stu and Doug were only 22 years old when they recorded this.
