As someone who reminisces in the past quite frequently, I would love to revisit the past back to when I was a lot younger, but refrain from making contact and just hide away. Just so I could see myself being happy and content as a teenager where the stresses of the adult life and responsibilities were gone. Also to see my beloved loved ones who aren't in this world anymore.

There are no past nows the are over and gone
There are no future nows the do not exist yet
Only the current now exists as an ever expanding consciousness of memories we have NOW in hopes we have NOW for better future NOWS. Please TRY to connect the dots…. Even the bible got it right

This is a perfect example of genitive thought! If for example i traveled in time and killed my grandmother. It would create a parallel time dimension. This not possible as it would go against the laws of physics! Energy and matter a not gained or lost. They are simply transferred. Meaning both parallel dimensions will lose matter and energy and both will cease to exist!

It took me a long time to wrap my head around the idea that everything that has happened, is happening and will happen is happening at the same time. In other words, that time is a singular point within the fabric of space -- one that we all experience relatively.
It's like an island that looks to someone in a ship like a speck on the horizon. The island is in their future. But to the person on the island, it is their present. The island hasn't changed -- only the way the two people experience it.

    • @lesroberts3226
      @lesroberts3226 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

Love your example rob. Once you pass the island it becomes the past. But if there’s an infinite number of dimensions all of which have differing actions and reactions what’s to say that time travel is more of a jump from one scenario to another, each one having a different level of advancement

    • @agodfortheatheistnow
      @agodfortheatheistnow 2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      What is hard to comprehend?
The past does not exist anymore
The future does not exist yet
      Only now has ever existed
      Now after now after now
      We do not exist physically
We are not physical we are atoms which are subatomic electromagnetic energy waves that our consciousness creates an imagined existence. I think… therefore I exist…. Everything else is just a product of MY thoughts … my consciousness creates all that I believe exists….
We are a singularity that creates this story like a writer creates a fictional story.. then we add imagined colours and sounds and thoughts…
      Angstroms ? Sights vibrating energy
      Decibels ? Sounds vibrating energy
Thoughts ? Firing synapses vibrating energy
Everything you imagine exists is just an expression of our consciousness…
As a bored lonely singularity “I AM”
I created an imagined universe to give my existence meaning and purpose which is to make my existence as enjoyable as possible.

Hug him longer, turn off his alarm, anything... to make him just 5 mins later and he would have, perhaps, not crashed. But then i think if its not him it would be someone else. Someone else would have died and left behind people who loved them. So... ive been through the experience, ive been through the pain and I wouldnt wish it upon anyone else. Yes, presence leaves a mark/light/perspective in all its passing. These events can be revisited in time. Time is an image of moving forward while not seeing what’s already happened. I’ll give you an example. If a star explodes and it takes the light time to travel to be able to see it, imagine traveling closer to that light and back before that light reached its mark. You have then traveled in time.

  • @mmatthe9ify

"Time travel" has indeed been proven, just not with humans, but with 'particles' at particle accelerators. When accelerated to a high percentage of the speed of light, certain particles experience a "slower passage of time" compared to their surroundings, and it has been documented. This has the net effect of these particles traveling "to the future", albeit at a very very small scale in these experiments.

Something that was not discussed is one's dreams. I and likely others have had many experiences with family members long dead in a setting in the past (at least the past I recall) and some of these dreams seem quite real. Being able to control one's dreams to leap back into time when desired, with whom and where is a bit more difficult. And, although less frequent I have had dreams carrying me into the future as well, or I presumed it to be the future. This is a different take on the common thought of time travel, but can seem that way to someone who is in that state of a dream.

I tried testing time travel once in third grade by putting an alarm clock everyday to remind me to go back to my past self and give me something cool like a hoverboard. Kind of like that Rick and Morty episode where Rick can have his future self do all the work by just setting the intention.
Anyways I still don’t have a hover board 15 years later but I think that if time travel existed, it would only be available to the most powerful nation’s government and would be heavily restricted and regulated. I think that in the future, if someone tried to create a time machine illegally, there would also be “time police/agents” kind of like the matrix that track and enforce people illegally traveling through time

If you went back only a few hours, say from Germany, you could end up hundreds of feet in the air over Texas, or worse, hundreds of feet underground. If you went back just a few years, you could end up floating in the middle of space where the earth currently was when you left. What about atmospheric pressure and temperature changes? A sudden switch would kill you instantly.

    • @johnhough7738

You sound just like me ... I've been saying exactly this for years, that Time Travel (TT) must necessarily involve four dimensions (possibly more? Brrrr) and one helluva lot of absolutely pin-point navigation.
We are on the surface of a spinning ball that itself is hooping larger 'circles' around our sun which itself is hooping through space (and time!). You'd not only have to know all of the variables, your navigation must be absolutely precise and your machinery absolutely spot on in its delivery.
      And-
-and to not digress: I had the idea (once, a fiction story) for a science fiction weapon that knocked the recipient back in time by one zillionth of a second. So?
So there are now two of him trying to occupy the same space at the same time. So?
So instant total disruption of both of him ... if we think about it, this is how a bullet kills, the bullet is simply trying to share the same space at the same time as the recipient, and the harder/faster disrupts the softer/slower. No two physical objects can occupy the same co-ordinates in space/time without disruption. No?

I can see two possible forms of time Tavel. One is the ability to experience the past by observation only. No interaction but a detailed record of exact events plays out in vivid fashion. It could be that this has happened for a very long time. The power required to create a stable portal would have to be enormous, just to maintain the link.
The second is multidimensional in that there are unlimited copies of the same reality, and that a person could enter the ongoing state and even change history or worse, leaving behind just one of the worlds, not affecting any other. Again, the power necessary to affect a portal stability would perhaps be two nuclear reactors in line for a very small opening.

Unfortunately we can't go fast enough to a day a week etc, etc. However when we look at pictures of ourselves or family and friends who no longer are with us we time travel in our minds to that moment of time but we can't physically be there or when we watch a TV show from a day ago or years ago or listening to an album from music recorded a year or years ago we are time traveling.I have watched many movies and shows about time travel and it's definitely wishful thinking.

About 20 years ago I was driving my van when Paul Harvey came on the radio. He started out his second segment with the death of a "sports" person the day before. I was a bit shocked that this person died the day before. I wasn't a huge fan of the sport but my brother was. So that evening I called my brother to express condolences. I also called my friend who was also a huge fan. Both of them told me that what I heard didn't happen and I was mistaken. I said, "No", I heard Paul Harvey talk about it on the radio. Long story short, they were right. Dale Earnhardt didn't die that day before. Dale Earnhardt died exactly one year later. Did I experience something in the future? To this day my brother and friend still tease me on what I experienced.

I love the part, where that guy said we could "travel in time" using our minds. And probably there is a lot of truth in that assumption, even when we humans haven't developed the ability to use our brain to go forward yet and visit our future, we can, at least, imagine it, so far..; we can go only backwards...; and let me tell you.., it is so beautiful, it's a wondeful and unique experience, and I personally, always love every moment I do travel to my past using just my mind, to visit, enjoy, smell, live again and see one more time my parents, relatives, friends and places, that are not anymore in my present. 😔

To the past you travel through your memories
To the future through your imaginations.
Only in this way can we speak of time travel.
      Nothing tangible exists
      that could be physically traversed.
      Only the now has relevance
      and it is infinitely fleeting.

I can wrap my head around if you travelled forward in time due to time dilation because I don’t see any paradoxes created by that. I think travelling back in time to change the past would be useless because you aren’t changing the past in the universe you are from but creating another one where the events you wished to change never happened.

Interesting exposition on time. I agree with Fred Allen Wolf. The concept of time whether objective time or subjective time is all in the mind. This hypothesis is supported by the famous French scholar Alfred Maury (1861), who described vividly living and experiencing a whole year in a dream (subjective time), when actually it was a millisecond (in objective time). He was also the first (?) to describe how to measure time in a dream. He was convinced that dreams are created at the moment of waking up. He based this assumption on a subjectively long-lasting dream about the French Revolution, at the end of which the dreaming Maury was to be beheaded under the guillotine. When he was roughly awoken by a piece of his bed (la flèche de mon lit) which had fallen on his neck, Maury assumed that the whole dream had been created at that very moment (milliseconds), leading up to the guillotine scene. In Alfred Maury's explanation of time as measured in his dream, a whole year had occurred from the moment a piece of bed fell on his neck. My remembrance of his paper, Maury, A. (1861), Le sommeil et les reves. Paris: Didier, was that in his vivid dream which he experienced, started 1 year before he was "guillotined". In his dream he was in a French bar drinking during the French Revolution. He was in a conversation with someone and mentioned something about his "foot". Again, in his dream, an agent of the French Revolution (Committee of General Security, French Comité De Sûreté Générale, organ of the French Revolutionary government. It directed the political police and Revolutionary justice. Founded by the National Convention in 1792, the committee administered the Reign of Terror of 1793-94), over heard the mentioning of "foot". Having instituted the new metric measurement systems, it was illegal (and punishable by death) to use the old measurement systems of feet and inches. Thus, he was turned over to the authorities of the Reign of Terror. He vividly remember almost every day of his dream, being thrown in jail at the Bastille, the harsh conditions of the jail, asking friends to assist him. Waiting almost a year to go to Trial. Every minute of the Trial, which eventually resulted in a guilty verdict. The terrifying walk to the Guillotine, and finally the pain of the Guillotine on his neck. In other words, he lived and experienced a year in the millisecond the bed part hit his neck. His mind was able to create and experience a whole year. His emotions and vivid memories actually supported the experience of living a whole year (subjective time), when it was actually a millisecond (objective time). Upon waking up, he could remember almost every "living" day in that horrible year. The whole year of living in his dream was more real than the 1 year of his actual life. The concept of time whether objective time or subjective time is all in the mind. It is the memory (the past whether 1 year or 1 millisecond) of your experience of what is reality, is all that matters. The mind can expand or contract time. Think about your memory of experiences and dreams and relate that to time. Thanks.
