One very 'big' Church in Abuja did a one year fasting and prayer for Nigeria some years ago, Dunamis Church. Plenty others, like Redeemed Church, have done theirs on different occasions. But how much less corrupt and better has/is the country and people in general getting, even Christians on a character level?
Empty self-serving spirituality devoid of the true Gospel!

Should people seek God by obeying his commands, the land will heal. For example: all that fake hair people wear, and Dr. mentioned it here. The second commandment that God gave the Israelites was Do not make any likeness of anything that is in the sky above, or on the earth or in the sea below. Do not bow or server them. FAKE HAIR is a likeness of Hair on our head that God created. When we comb it, oil it, spray it and style it, we are serving it and that is against God’s Laws. Shalom.

I'll say most Nigerian Christians are practicing Mysticism, but not in the orthodox way. Supernatural encounters of Church leaders from Nigeria are often regarded at a higher level than, the central message of Christ from the bible. So with Mysticism every and anything can be preached to members, as the practice is now determined by whatever the Church leader feels even if it's against the message of Christ.

Otherwise why on earth should we keep believing in the same wealth pastor promised our fathers till they died but never came to pass? Some people including my wife see me as not a good Christian for trying to reason independently and not follow foolishly whatever religious doctrine thrown at me. It's for babies... That's why we 😢have remain where we are.
For decades I have been doing similar things until I took courage and search the scripture to see if the apostles did such service during their days and I never saw one.
Last year I did new year eve with my wife and children and to be truth to you, this had been our best year.
Apostle Paul put it this, 1 Corinthians 13:11 KJV
[11] When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
A day event has nothing or few things to do with what happens for the remaining 364 days in the year, what actually counts are those things we do daily.
Let go back to the Bible and sensor all that we do with scriptures.
God bless you Dr Apoki for doing all that you do.

I do not believe it is compulsory. It started in the early to mid 90s, and now it is now being done everywhere. However, I believe you have to be led by your spirit man whether to go or not. I attended the one of my church in 2005 entering 2006. The service dismissed at 5.30 am but the pastor asked those interested in staying back to hear a special message from God to stay back. The church emptied out and 14 of us were left. In 30 minutes, I heard things I never imagined in my life. The talk and impartation I got redefined my life forever. So do not entirely discountenance those services, but go with a purpose and ask God to give you the message for your life. Let it not be that you just want to attend for attendance sake. Also, be in the spirit. Timi Dakolo left one of such services to perform somewhere and nearly got killed in the late 2000s. Only those of us who knew him personally before he reached fame know the story.
