    Everywhere I go, even in adoration, it’s so loud. The door and people’s phone or their praying in low voice with no consideration to those around; thus lacking charity. People talking during mass especially when the consecration is about to start. There are so many people everywhere I turn. I feel the noise within their souls. I’m exhausted by the end of the day feeling the weight of society.

      Absolutely. Even relative silence is difficult to attain. It's worthwhile knowing that in the introduction, Cardinal Sarah talks about how 'the noise is in ourselves' too.

      If you go to a traditional Catholic Mass you will find silence

      Even in TLM, there's a lot of noise.
      It's impossible to obtain full silence in a crowd with the phones, the sneeze, cough, kids, late arrival, etc. If your church is full of little noise it's because it's full of life.
      Don't think of it as people lacking charity, although sometime it's true, because one day you will be the famous idiot that forgot to turn off your phone and then what. Forgive others as you would like to be forgiven when you make a mistake.
      Silence does happen but when it's noisy and it's getting to you just think of it as a cross you carry for the glory of God and the increase of your virtue. It is also a good exercise to improve focus and fight off distractions during prayer.

      Many congregations have put up with the chatter in Church it has become a fact of life in the Church - 'charity' has been used too frequently to belong to get along. HELP!

    I used to attend the Mass everyday since childhood. But since I started to attend the Traditional Latin Mass. I learn to worship God in a proper manner and my spiritual life develop more. Let us pray that the Traditional Latin Mass will be celebrate all over the world.

    So good. I couldn’t become silent for so many years until the Lord one day allowed me to become silent!! I love silence so much probably because I couldn’t find silence for so long.

    "In trials and tribulations remember CHRIST crucified and be silent. What we need most in order to make progress is to be silent before this great GOD with our appetite and with our tongue, for the language he best hears is silent love" (& tears)

    I wished there was no "background soundtrack" being sung during the ofertory. The same while we were in line to and right after we receive communion. Even during "adoration" there's a guy narrating what we can be praying for, like if it is some "pentecostal" service. Unfortunately there's no Latin Mass in my archdiocese and I've never been to one, but, by what people describe, I CRAVE for it.
    The best I could ever have was a NO mass in a convent. The friars are used to silence and very few laypeople were there, at least when I visited. I had a great silent half-hour in front of Christ in the Holy Eucharist that day, and then a quiet mass, even though it was NO.

      It is VERY sad that is far easier for me to meditate in my bedroom than in my parish church.

    • @ICChicagoChurch
      @ICChicagoChurch  25 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Perhaps so, but our focus in liturgy is different than that of dedicated meditation. Meditations is only a portion of the ritual action required of us (e.g., praise, repentance, etc.)
      Having attended TLM and of course NO, I find that either done reverently is supreme for spiritual fulfilment.

      Indeed. I think guided meditation (e.g., reading scripture or something spiritual) can accompany silence. Genuine silence, however, is very, very difficult.

      @@jojackson1573 The world is not without risk. Same goes for prayer. Prayer in the wrong place will get you thrown in jail in certain parts of this world. Will you dare to make space for God around and in your heart? Will you take God with you as you go about your day?

    I understand the importance of silence, but not everyone has the same concept. We speak of "love they neighbor(s)" but cone to adoration or even church with crying fussing children/younger children using the back of church to play or running in the back, etc. In our church, the adoration is done in our chapel with certain days having confessions. Someone has recommended I see if their is another time that might work better. I was taught to behave because you're in God's house & if I wasn't, I was removed. Not in todays world & church. I often feel my adoration time has been lost because of the lack of silence in church has been taken away. One can't help not hearing this in the main church with 4 quit rooms not being used.

    • @ICChicagoChurch

      As a priest my attitude is a bit different. Silence is a matter of the heart as much as it is a matter of our circumstances
      Children don't learn silence unless they are taught in an environment that demands it. Likewise, the liturgy itself is what we give to God, so expecting silence, necessarily, can come from an attitude of 'what do I get out of it?'
      I'm not criticizing your position, and I understand. I would just say people's phones going off are a lot more 'silence breaking' than children crying or moving around.

      Indeed church is not a playground for children for many parents don't learn their children to be quiet and calm during holy mass. It is very irritating to follow holy mass with children running around.

    As everyone knows, Mass attendance is down. A child making noise represents at least 3 people - while the little old lady complaining of the noise will be gone forever in a manner of years.

    • @rmp7400
      @rmp7400 21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      No. Mass attendance is UP in many locations - vocations are burgeoning and new churches are reverently being built.... It depends upon where you go to Mass.
