As an only child of divorced and let’s say, unconventional parents, this is really so special. You are all lucky to have this! Happy Thanksgiving!
I am a divorced Mother of four children and an only child as well. I learned long ago that it was up to me to holiday traditions for my family. I always included them in the planning and preparations. We have tried so many variations of recipes over the years and we have memories of great triumphs and not so great outcomes. All of the memories are cherished. We can laugh and reminisce on all. Now that my children are all young adults they still insist on having Thanksgiving with me and I have open my home to any of my friends or children’s friends that may find themselves alone for the holidays. My small quiet home comes alive and I realize how blessed I am.

What a beautiful family.... I have 11 brothers and sisters myself. I lost my baby brother unexpectedly this June, we always spend holidays and Sundays together. 5 of them are gone now and my beautiful parents. Oh, how we miss them, there simply aren't words.... Cherish these times, love those faces, hug them often, they are priceless. ♡

My mom was one of 8 . We always had big get togethers growing up. I miss that so much. My grandparents are gone so are some of my aunt and uncle's and even some of my cousins. We stay in touch some through Facebook messenger but it's not the same. Cherish those memories and make more😊
Thanks, for sharing. We moved from all of our family 33 yrs ago (hundreds of miles away). Because of this, we didn't have any get-togethers with any family/cousins, ever. Looking back I'm not sure it was a good move, especially for our now adult children (we had 6 children)...

My husband’s family is all from Missouri and he also has those great memories of all the Aunts,Uncles and cousins gathering at the farm. I didn’t grow up on a farm but grew up in MI and my Mom would generally host. Such special memories.

We are experiencing the same thing with our family this year for the holidays. My grandpa( last grandparent) passed away in the spring and now we are going to go from OUR grandparents, parents, aunts / uncles and cousins to- my parents, my sister’s family and my family. It is weird how it goes into a change like that. That food looks yummy guys!

I remember all the memories of just visiting my grandparents on Thanksgiving. My mother was tge 2nd oldest of 13. I have aunts & uncles very close to my age. My mother always made our Thanksgiving dinner & then we visited both sets of grandparents. My mom is 98 & still living but she had to go to a nursing home last year.
I am making a small Thanksgiving dinner on Wed & Thurs I'll be taking a plate for my husband & myself, to eat at the nursing home where my husband is residing. I am thankful for everything that I have & for bringing my husband through a very rough year but he has a long road ahead.

Such a great vlog. Thanks for sharing! Just one question, this is my first year making the Turkey (🫣) and many recipes say to lift the skin of the Turkey and put the butter/seasonings there and not just on top. But I noticed you didn’t do this step. Do you find it makes a difference one way or another?
