Being Norse Pagan I've had people tell me "you're going to hell" and I've said probably, the look on their faces. On the topic of “crazy feminists,” I get what you're saying in that there isn't necessarily a connection between feminism specifically and paganism; but I would disagree slightly in that I have found my fellow pagans to be overwhelmingly left-leaning, and the left fundamentally includes feminist ideology. I'm a centrist and I have yet to find pagans that are similar politically; in the same vein, I have yet to find centrists who wouldn't scoff at the fact I'm a pagan, because they're often more of the scientific, atheistic type. By definition, the more inclusive ideology of those on the left is significantly more likely to hold space for pagans, or to create them, because it has the right characteristics. Whereas those on the right, or in the centre, don't have the same characteristics of openness, creativity, compassion, and self-expression that the left does; but more of independence, logic, and tradition. That is not to say there are no right-wing pagans or witches, but it's far less common, and as such, the generalization is made because it applies to the majority. Regardless, I honestly just feel isolated in an increasingly divided society, unable to talk about the full scope of my beliefs (spiritual and political) because everyone has become so partisan.
Thanks for your great comment. I definitely agree that the majority of pagans are left-leaning. I hope that by spreading awareness and understanding about Paganism, a wider contingent of the population and political spectrum will become more open to Paganism. :)
You are probably talking about Wiccans. That is because of the relations Wicca has with the new age movement, vegetarianism and progressive values of the time it was invented. Remember that the new age movement (just as any movement) have political implications, and participating in a movement will also means that such movement will influence your political opinions. In Europe, pagans are mostly far right lean, that's because their beliefs are around tradition and traditions are a conservative thing not a progressive one.
Newagers and “witches” are generally left, sure. But actual real practicing and traditional pagans are almost all right wing by their belief in nature. If you eat meat, is it really better to buy it from the store, not knowing what that animal went through before death? Depending on how the sacrifice is done, you can eat that meat knowing the animal had a good life that was ended quickly and its sacrifice to your continued life was honored properly as well as whatever deity you are worshipping. I feel that is a beautiful way to honor the sustenance an animal gives to your body and life force.
In ancient Rome if you wanted an animal sacrifice, you went to the butcher, told them what temple you wanted it delivered to, and they took care of it. Easier than ordering a pizza. Personally I think most of the pot roast was eaten by the priests, but they got to eat too.

I do the same but most people take the mick saying paganism is not a real religion i remind them its older than the majority of the "modern faiths" Scarlet love ya videos newly subscribed so going through them as quick as i can
Pagan is Latin for country folk. Our modern day definition has changed yes. This is how history is changed or manipulated. We loose the truth through destruction and wars ect. So "New Age" does make a little sense. We have running water, toilets that flush, markets that we buy our food and clothes ect...
I remember studying greek mythology and being taught "paganism" but the way it was explained made them seem simple minded. "They thought the sun was a god since it provided life, so they did sun whorshiping ceremonies" like they were idiot. But there they were trying to make us believe Christianity as if that made since. I went to public school.
I recently came across a thread on Twitter full of people throwing around of few of these misconceptions around without bothering to do research. Many of those people thought pagans were evil and worshipped the devil. I was upset at this, sure, but, most of them had the same ignorant talking points, so, I just started blocking them. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life
Good points and ones that I never would have thought about. 1st thought about food wasn't being a vegetarian but being a "carnivore". 2nd, really? Being g a feminist? That's another one I wouldn't have thought about. 3rd, yes I am going to hell. Actually it's Helle or Hellheim in Norse Mythology. And 4th, animal "sacrifice". Yes, it usually happens for most of my meals! Ha ha ha 🤣😂🤣 But I do "sacrifice" fruits and vegetables as well! There are so many forms of paganism, it's fascinating!
Being Pagan means being free to follow my intuition emotions intellect and conscience to navigate this life with the help of higher powers that speak to me through a spiritual realm that I nurture with my intentions. Pagan archetypes show me what character or it's opposite looks like and what can happen if I succumb to more basic human instincts. The Christian religion was born in treachery greed and lust for power ..... I am not a child anymore I am free to be spiritual in a natural way. PS I am a carnivore that eats plants too ! 😉
Great video and I adore all of your content 🙂 Also, I just wanted to add a misconception which I've heard several times in the past - that "all Norse Pagans/Heathens are white supremacists" 🙄 while some are, many of us are not. I've actually been approached about this before, as I wear a beautiful Mjölnir with runes on my left arm and happen to shave my head (just because it's comfortable). Someone a few years ago began questioning me about politics and race, which have nothing to do with the faith itself. My wife is disabled and I have a biracial cousin and love the boy to death, so imagine the level of annoyance I've experienced due to the blatant ignorance of a few people 😑
In the Christian faith their Old Testament has animal sacrifice. I have a real big problem with that faith. I came from it. I see so many holes. I always have. Just never had the courage to acknowledge them until I got older.
I find it sad that people who are normally a very care ing about out fragile earth care so little for the domestic animals on this planet that they refer to as stock, there is no such thing as a humane killing, no animal wants to die yet we as humans bring these poor creatures into this world only to be killed mostly horrifically simply for the sake of our taste buds, so very sad!
@@the_polish_prince8966 wicca is just paganism revamped. so actually it's really old. most of it is just paganism turd polished up for the BRITISH INVASION. lol. it's all recycled, hon. oh, and pagans who don't do blood sacrifice are just animists. it's all extremely silly.
@@legalfictionnaturalfact3969 Wicca is newage Paganism, I'm a real Pagan and we have a name for Wiccans: Fluffy Bunnies. Recycled is the right word, Wiccans shredded pagan ideas, ate them, shit them out and called it a religion. So tell me, how does Christianity partly come from a religion invented nearly two thousand years after itself?
Left or Right to me makes no difference. No I am not vegetarian nor vegan .Paganism is more of follow your own SPIRITUAL path and that is the path of worship and belief our ancient ones revered, those that were our ggggggggggggggt parents before organized religion$ took over their lands and lives. Maybe pre Iron Age. Those people lived such freedoms that we cant even imagine. Being Pagan doesnt mean to be a push over either I or most Pagan people I know are kind and gentle but dont push too far. We are people just like the other Homo sapiens .We have no faked enemy called the Devil as was a Christian invention just as Scarlet also mentions Hell .No such a place exists for us . I have a belief system NOT a religion but thats just me. Blessed be to all of you and thanks for such a wonderful video!
I am vegan and that is an element of my faith: respect the earth and nature, and harm none. I don't hate on heathens and such who hunt etc as part of their faith but don't tell me I'm not being faithful to a nature religion xD
Does one find that the whole feminist question seems to be a generational thing perhaps? Specifically I have found women of the boomer generation who venerate the goddess came to it with a kind of female inspired spiritual thinking, especially in the wiccan movement it seems.
Hey, I love your video. I have a question though: can you be pagan and still believe in the "Christian God" as well as other gods /goddesses? ( i know it's actually "prohibited" in Christianity to believe in other gods as well but that's bullshit in my opinion. For me personally at least)
Great question. From a Pagan perspective it's may be ok to incorporate the Christian God, through from a Christian perspective it would probably not be ok. I go over this topic in more detail in this video: th-cam.com/video/v0dt9rSGf1g/w-d-xo.html
The bible says other gods exist but that you shouldn't worship them. However keep in mind it's an outdated obsolete teaching that belonged to the Jews and in the sermons, Jesus overturned them. He also never said anything about pagans worshipping other gods as bad, he only disliked pagan folkism and their prayers being too long. Also you can believe in various gods and goddesses even from other groups, it's called eclectic paganism
Whilst a lot of what you said is right, it did come across as being through the lens of Wicca. For example Re. Sex it depends on the tradition - I think the only thing most pagans would agree on is that sex isn't a "sin" as it is in Christianity. Just a suggestion that you might want to highlight those distinctions in future.
Nice video! I just don't think you can compare eating meat nowadays with the eating of meat in old pagan societies. Of course they ate meat back then but back then everything was more in balance. The meat industry is literally destroying mother earth nowadays. Not saying everyone should go vegan/vegetarian but times change.
Part of the problem about "misconceptions" about paganism, is that "pagans" act goofy and ... well .. There's a saying .. "It only takes one bad apple .."
It's fine to see the sun as male and moon as female. But there are just as many pagan cultures that view it the opposite, too. And they're so neglected in modern paganism
In re: sexuality, PLEASE expand your definition beyond "merging of the sacred masculine and sacred feminine". This gender essentialism erases nonbinary and genderfluid people, and ignores gay sexuality. Just a reminder: please be inclusive.
@TheAtheopaganismChannel These societies were hyper-gendered, and what you're describing would have been completely foreign to them. A man and a woman coming together to create life was extremely sacred to them. Non-binary and gender fluid are a modern invention. To say otherwise and force that on to these older beliefs systems is pure revisionism.
@Zu the translation of Pagan becomes the word Ethnic, and everyone has an Ethnicity, it does make sense if people are having Indigenous folk faiths, like Ancient Egyptians who built the pyramids, those were pagan too. It doesn't mean everyone has the same Gods and Goddesses, I am sure Gods run in the Blood. It just doesn't make sense to worship a god of a different ethnic tribe as my own. And there are loads of people who actually do.
So I got my brain messed up on -4:39 "Wiccans are pagan some witches are pagan but not all are" so if your starting out doing wicca the religion are you wiccan or are you pagan?
Hi Hanna, I made a video a couple years ago that better explains the differences. th-cam.com/video/D04ge1VJlmE/w-d-xo.html In general Paganism is an umbrella term and Wicca falls under that umbrella. For example, Baptists are Christian, but just because you're a Christian that doesn't mean you're also a Baptist (you could be a Evangelical or a Catholic for example). So Wiccans are Pagans but not all Pagans are Wiccans (they could be Heathens, Druids, etc) Hope that explanation helps. :)
Your so nice ! How could you go to hell!?!?!?!? Also yes you seem to know your discerncerment between terms . Most ignorant (not trying to be rude) people have alot of false allegations assumptions ect
The word pagan means the poor in English translation it seems pedant in French and that means if you ever heard the team for the gorhma cooking it poor and the believe in one creator that made all living creatures all of nature and man and woman and Stonehenge is the birth place of all believe of ancient wonders Stonehenge is a stone aged made by humans beings not little green man that man came from ideas believe of mother and father nature god and goddess wiccan did not start in the nineteen fifties that person used witchcraft for wickedness the word Wiccan means that you are a keeper of the flame earth air fire and water always been four directions always been four seasons pretty much genius but not out of the king James Bible we believe that Bible is cursed by wickedness and evil wiccan means witches men and woman incense herbs spices chants that have been used for thousands and thousands and thousands of Melania Like the dawn of time you are very pretty and pretty much a babbler what is a no pagan nonstop because they don't what they taking about either this don't have anything do with womans rights it has to with people have the right to believe in god or goddess the triple goddess is maiden mother ad crone a bride a married woman to a man and grandmothers and grandfathers passing down their families you young people born in the nineties are so uniform and misinformation not everything is about you you don't get any rule or rights wiccan r the poor are not always vegan what mean you put stuff up your butts and chew on sticks don't get us witches involved in ignorance and and madness

Pagan is Latin for country folk. Our modern day definition has changed yes. This is how history is changed or manipulated. We loose the truth through destruction and wars ect. So "New Age" does make a little sense. We have running water, toilets that flush, markets that we buy our food and clothes ect...
As a baby pagan named Sabrina’s, you h it on several things I have wondered about or gotten answered. Thanks for clarification.
I told my friends I was pagan. They were all positive except one, who says it is a cult and even though I've explained it to him, no difference
Everyone thinks that i worship the devil when i tell them i am pagan. It takes a while to explain but in the end they usually understand 😊
Some witches worship Lucifer and Satan...👹
@@gabrielleangelica1977 the Satan 😆😆😆?

I recently came across a thread on Twitter full of people throwing around of few of these misconceptions around without bothering to do research. Many of those people thought pagans were evil and worshipped the devil. I was upset at this, sure, but, most of them had the same ignorant talking points, so, I just started blocking them. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life
Funny, when I think about paganism I definitely don't think about veganism AT ALL. Quite the opposite.
Lol yes def a carnivore too 😋
Your kitty is awesome ❤️❤️❤️ tear the place up kitty 🤣🤣🤣 My feline likes to be my alarm clock 2 hours before I need to get up and go to work 🤣🤣🤣
As does mine.
First off, that top is fierce! Second, the video was great :D
Thanks! :)
I'm honestly so tired of people calling paganism devil worship.
PS
I am a carnivore that eats plants too ! 😉
You cat is tearing your house apart, LOL
Yes! It's definitely a struggle, lol
My wife is disabled and I have a biracial cousin and love the boy to death, so imagine the level of annoyance I've experienced due to the blatant ignorance of a few people 😑
This was a very good video and hit home, thanks
In the Christian faith their Old Testament has animal sacrifice. I have a real big problem with that faith. I came from it. I see so many holes. I always have. Just never had the courage to acknowledge them until I got older.
Lilly Belle (spelling?) is my favorite part of your videos! ❤️
Thank you so much for this video, it was certainly informative
I'm definitely proof of your point of not all pagans being vegetarian or vegan, miss ravenwood. I'm very much a meatatarian (lol). Vegetables are yuck
Last two points are very true in Christian religion. I meditate on lord Shiva.
Also a baby witch. My Christian mom think I worship DEVIL.
Thank you for video, interesting.
Scarlet, Christianity was both considered and treated as a cult religion by the Ancient Romans
The same with the Slavic pagans..
That's because Christianity is a cult
Personally, I wouldn't listen to the Christians, but excellent video.
wouldn't listen to any sacrifice religion. christianity comes partly from wicca anyway.
@@legalfictionnaturalfact3969 How does Christianity partly come from a religion invented nearly two thousand years after itself?
I'm specifically a Heathen, and while I've never personally given a blood sacrifice I've attended a blot where we did, however I'm still animistic. So tell me, how does Christianity partly come from a religion invented nearly two thousand years after itself?
Although explained well I have not got it all in order through my understanding. Can you recomend a book?
I'm intrigued🤔
Would you ever consider teaching a class about paganism? It's quite the interesting topic. I'd be your #1 student. At least B+ level🤗😂
A great example I heard in another video is wiccan is to pagan as carrot is to vegetable
Still not sure if paganism is for me I've called myself pagan but I just am not really feelibg it. I'm not sure if it is my path.
Fantastic
Scarlet, can Russian Traditional witch craft be combined with Wicca?
I see two cat in the hallway I would love to know what their name are.
I love you're videos
Thanks! :)

Is baphomet a pagan god?
Yes
Somehow we're supposedly vegans who proform animal sacrifice and hyper-masculine 'viking' feminists.😂
Sexuality and fertility aren’t supposed to be shamed and looked down upon it’s not sinful it’s meant to celebrated the sacred masculine and feminine
There are female priestesses in Christianity, just FYI.
In which sect?
@@georgastrophel5811 mostly nondenominational ones. We have them at my church.
@@georgastrophel5811 I have a friend who is an Episcopalian priest. She's a woman.
Part of the problem about "misconceptions" about paganism, is that "pagans" act goofy and ... well .. There's a saying .. "It only takes one bad apple .."
The one I hate the most is the neo pagan "the moon is female the sun is male" As a pagan who's worldview is that the sun is female and moon is male.
Dahlia Wolf Norse have that, but I rarely see any others that do.
Than that's your belief, we have varying beliefs and nothing is wrong with that.
It's fine to see the sun as male and moon as female. But there are just as many pagan cultures that view it the opposite, too. And they're so neglected in modern paganism
in French the moon is a feminine pronoun and the sun Masculine. La lune et le soleil (im french canadian)
eating meat does not make u a more authentic pagan in my opinion
Clumsy cat for president 20/21
In re: sexuality, PLEASE expand your definition beyond "merging of the sacred masculine and sacred feminine". This gender essentialism erases nonbinary and genderfluid people, and ignores gay sexuality. Just a reminder: please be inclusive.
These concepts aren't authentic and are postmodern in origin.
@@ulthanesmorkums wrong. Just because something is new to you doesn't make it incorrect.
❤️❤️❤️
.
I wouldn’t mind seeing pagans proselytizing.
Same old, same old
Can we your cat
Haahahaha! Your cat🤣🤣🤣🤣
You can be a feminist or a Pagan, or both. They are nor directly related now or in history. - This seems a to simplify what you were saying...
So I got my brain messed up on -4:39 "Wiccans are pagan some witches are pagan but not all are" so if your starting out doing wicca the religion are you wiccan or are you pagan?
Hi Hanna, I made a video a couple years ago that better explains the differences. th-cam.com/video/D04ge1VJlmE/w-d-xo.html
In general Paganism is an umbrella term and Wicca falls under that umbrella.
Most ignorant (not trying to be rude) people have alot of false allegations assumptions ect
why are there no old male pagans? DOM
bigDbigDbigD there are lots...
The word pagan means the poor in English translation it seems pedant in French and that means if you ever heard the team for the gorhma cooking it poor and the believe in one creator that made all living creatures all of nature and man and woman and Stonehenge is the birth place of all believe of ancient wonders Stonehenge is a stone aged made by humans beings not little green man that man came from ideas believe of mother and father nature god and goddess wiccan did not start in the nineteen fifties that person used witchcraft for wickedness the word Wiccan means that you are a keeper of the flame earth air fire and water always been four directions always been four seasons pretty much genius but not out of the king James Bible we believe that Bible is cursed by wickedness and evil wiccan means witches men and woman incense herbs spices chants that have been used for thousands and thousands and thousands of Melania
Like the dawn of time you are very pretty and pretty much a babbler what is a no pagan nonstop because they don't what they taking about either this don't have anything do with womans rights it has to with people have the right to believe in god or goddess the triple goddess is maiden mother ad crone a bride a married woman to a man and grandmothers and grandfathers passing down their families you young people born in the nineties are so uniform and misinformation not everything is about you you don't get any rule or rights wiccan r the poor are not always vegan what mean you put stuff up your butts and chew on sticks don't get us witches involved in ignorance and and madness
Sounds as if your cats were trashing part of your apartment while you were recording this video.
I gave you a "thumbs up" for it ALTHOUGH you seem to have advocated meat eating. Nevertheless it was a good video.
What ? Your a feminist ? You believe in equality in all things? Oh crap think i gotta leave
You do realize that being woke/a femanazi and being a feminist are different things right?
This is why the Bible said I do not permit women to speak.
Glad we don't follow your bible which permits all sorts of bigotry and heinous crimes.
