Google for India 2022: Decoding doctor's handwriting to Search in Videos, everything announced at the event
Google hosted the eighth edition of the Google for India 2022 event on December 19, 2022. The event was live-streamed on TH-cam where company executives announced Google's next set of initiatives for the Indian market. Sanjay Gupta, Country Head & Vice President of Google India took the stage to start the event. His speech revolved around the "Age of Artificial Intelligence" and how it can make things more secure and accessible in the country.
He said that the internet user base in India has exceeded 700 million and 1 billion Indians will be online by 2025. However, the internet is still text-first and largely driven by English, which restricts users from moving up the value chain. He says that the solution to this problem is AI, which can convert text to video and translate English to any language at scale, along with the capability to do much more. AI for health: Google is developing an AI model that can "decode" prescriptions written by doctors. It can search for medicine names in prescriptions with Google Lens. The company says that initial results have been heartening but much work still remains to be done before the system is ready for the real world. Google is also building Clinical Intelligence Engine with Apollo. It will help doctors analyse and manage data for better service on Apollo 24x7 and support rare and common disease diagnoses.
Multi-search and Google Lens: Google said that people in India use Lens more than anywhere else in the world. The multi-search feature will soon allow users to add text to pictures or screenshots. It will help solve the problem when Google Lens mistakes an item for something else. Google announced that it will be coming soon in multiple Indian languages, starting with Hindi.
