    A great interview. Dio has the ability to disseminate a lot of information in a succinct way and capturing the right emotion.
    Dio did save Black Sabbath. I was too young for the original Sabbath, Purple and Zeppelin era. I went to school with a huge Sabbath fan and saw the smile on his dial after Mob Rules was released. Being a true Sabbath fan . . . he loved Mob Rules. GRUNGE - this era had a devastating effect on DIO. I once read a Roger Glover interview (now there is a genuine good guy of rock ) and he carefully stated that DIO was in effect financially wiped out by grunge. The DIO solo albums stopped selling. This is why in 1997 DIO approached both Iommi and Blackers for reformations. Then Cozy Powell died.

    Does anyone like Black Sabbath - Seventh Star?

    • @wardka
      @wardka 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Trever P I like anything Iommi plays on. Seventh Star has its moments, though I don't think it's Glenn Hughes' best moment. I feel he's done much better on other projects and the Fused album with Iommi is also much better.

      Yes, but you need to remember it was recorded as a solo album - that's why it sounds like a solo album - the record company forced its release under the Sabbath name.

      Trever, you should. It's a classic. A very, very good album imo.

      Watched your interviews with Dio, and got glad when you asked about 'Holy Diver', any chance to share (if you happen to know) why 'Stargazer' ends controversially - *going home, but it's not home* , so unfortunate that you cannot ask Dio himself.
      Very strange, really want to know why this supersong ended like that.

    One thing about Sabbath that I learned.....Iommi and Butler seem to be all about the money. They would drop a good thing and quickly move on to something else if someone offered them a lot of money.

    haha. He's throwing Sabbath under the bus so much in this interview "if there wasn't a problem, one would always be created and fix it? Not a chance. That's the Sabbath way"...WOW and he was back in Sabbath when this interview was being conducted.

    Black Sabbath went thru a little downturn after "Technical Ecstasy" - which was very good, but the year of its release was the era of disco, Peter Frampton, and other sheer rubbish on the radio, so it didn't get the same attention as the earlier albums. They'd also taken some time off and the compilation double-LP had come out to pass the time. Taking a break when you are hot is always a very risky thing to do. "Never Say Die" was not up to the same level, with at least two throwaway tracks they never should have recorded. They were having problems with Ozzy. They'd also let Van Halen open for them for part of the tour - wrong mix of audiences. But they were NOT the "pretty much the laughing stock of the world" - that's a bunch of crap and Dio's ego was out of control (again) on this interview. And it most certainly had not been going on for the "last four of five years" - it was ONE year that the doldrums went on.
    On another note - Dio had some sort of nervous disorder - his hand perpertual motion stuff was not only on-stage - he is always very fidgety in any interview. Weird. Shoulda took that ritylin.

    Dio had an ego. Take his insights with a grain of salt.

      +Samsgarden Yea, but his ego was centered in the band - outside that he earned it.

    Ronnie didn't know a thing about Christianity and the Bible, he was Self-focused, a victim to the Flesh - Catholics damned another poor soul to hell and are dragging Christians to hell today.

    • @allanlindsay8369
      @allanlindsay8369 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +theothertroll. Hello Troll - On what basis did you reach that rather strange assumption in a rather strange post? Since it hardly fits the facts. Ronnie was raised in a Church-going Catholic family hardly likely then he would know nothing about Christianity and the Bible is it? Most especially given "Holy Diver". In fact to my sensibilities and by his own admission that is what made him the caring person he was. Where have Catholics damned another poor soul to Hell particularly in relation to Ronnie? Seems to me that you are merely "making" an opportunity to vent your own bias against the Catholic Church.
