Welcome to ColonThree, so far the longest pit hack in existence. We have spent close to 3 months creating this hack, then a further 3 months tasing it. Our aim was to create a pit hack that was as creative as possible, aiming to include lots of unique ideas, while still being hard as nails. If you have any questions about anything ever, feel free to leave a comment, I will read ALL of them :D
Thanks to Masterjun for doing the first part of the purple room. We just continued on from his smv. This is not a speedrun. While we didn't sit around and waste time since this is unnecessary, we didn't try to optimise in the slightest. That being said, we ended up with roughly the same amount of frames and rerecords, so hopefully that's a good indicator of difficulty. The first room is intended to be hard kaizo, and most of it is very possible without any slowdown, so if you're a casual kaizo player, hopefully this will give you a bit of a challenge. Routes shown here may not be the intended solutions, nor may they be the fastest way.
The Goomba's and the Boo boss at the end all have a "ColonThree" face which is this :3 , hence the title.

I feel like this is in fact the best hack that I've ever made, and I hope that you guys enjoy watching and playing it. For
those who haven't, it's a good mix of fun, creativity, and hard difficulty at the same time (not to brag). And, we know
that you guys will have some questions about the custom blocks, so I might as well explain what they do:
Shell Block - Only sprites can go on top of these; it acts as a slippery ledge tile for sprites.
Yoshi Block - Only seen once in the hack (the ghost house); this was our original design for the "kill mario and let sprites
pass through" block.
Block That Says "On" - Solid when the status of the on/off swith is on.
Block That Says "Off" - Solid when the status of the on/off swith is off.
Glitched Tile 1 - You can barely see the lower two pixels of this on some of the cutscenes; it locks your controls.
Glitched Tile 2 - Teleports the player if $15 is equal to #$80 (Player is pressing A or B).
Glitched Tile 3 - Teleports player to overworld.
Checkmark on Mario Block - Acts as a solid block for sprites and as nothing for the player.
Purple and Black Bars - Kills the player upon contact; sprites can pass through this block.
Red and Black Bars - Kills the player and sprites can walk on this.
Screen Scrolling Pipes - Includes about twenty separate blocks that I don't really have the time to explain.
Those were all of the blocks seen in this video (there are more, but you need to play the hack to see what they are =P)
I highly recommend that you play this, even if you aren't the pit type, it will get you trained. Happy playing!

bahh too easy for a pit hack
I haven't seen another hack come close to this in terms of technical brilliance and ambition.
That was intense, haha. This was one of the more extreme SMW TAS's I've ever seen, they used just about every trick in the book there.
I particularly liked the 'Null Sprite On Yoshi's Tongue Turned Into A Message Box To Be Used As A Platform While He Slowly Sinks In A Repeating Pattern Made Up Of The Top Part Of The Lava' glitch. The name could be a little more catchy, but that one was fun and gives me some good ideas, haha.

Specifically, it's the big blue from F-Zero GX, which is different to the original versions.

Huh, how curious. The bit you say is "Impossible without TAS" I'd say is one of the most doable things in this hack if you compare it to all the other stuff happening
So 20 midairs in a row is doable withought tas? People really don't understand what is happening in these hacks

I am definitely thankful for what you said (btw Jay made the boss room and the room before it so you can mostly thank him). Also, I could never make a kaizo hack as good as yours. I never really was the puzzle-solving/creating type of guy.

Just gotta say, you're my favorite Mario World TASer.
It's an item swap, having the shell on yoshi's tongue while getting hit causes him to lick twice, and on the second lick he ate the koopa, but got hit. What was meant to happen was that the koopa starts falling through the floor when you jump off yoshi, which is what happened during testing. For some reason, this time yoshi somehow started flying, so we decided to keep it in.
These are special screen scrolling pipes, and for some reason certain pipes allow you to enter them without a ground to wallcatch.
Wow, I haven't seen good hacks in a long time. But after that speed room, I am greatly impressed.
Each individual section might be doable without TAS. But the truly mind- boggling thing is that there's absolutely no checkpoints till you fight the final boss of the hack. Which means if they died at any point near the end they'd have to redo THE WHOLE DAMN THING. Imagine getting almost to the checkpoint by sheer luck and then messing up there and then having to redo practically twenty minutes of expert skill playing.
No, seriously. Nobody is ever going to finish even the first room without tools. I doubt anyone would even get past the one-sided walljumps on Yoshi. Even if they had unlimited time.
The fact that this is the longest pit/edge hack right now
really makes me wonder if all popular TASers will even try to play this.
My favorite part about this hack honestly was the story.
Thank you, ShadowDragon and I are the creators and the players =P sd did like all of the inserting of stuff, I just suggested what I wanted to make it look good.
This is the most creative pit hack I've ever seen, and 20:34 onward is probably the most insane and creative thing I've seen in any hack, ever (yes, this includes C|C, LotE, Wall-jump Abuse, both Glitch Abuse hacks, and any of my own hacks). I don't think there's any faults I can find. Maybe if I get out my microscope...
But I'm still not trying it because it looks too hard.

This has got to be the hardest hack ever. Lets face it, Living on the Edge was hard, but it isn't too long. This however is extreamly long, its 2 levels and holy sh**, the puzzles. This passes all pit hacks. Unless someone can make one that is an HOUR long with lots of hard tricks and clever puzzles using glitch abuse, this is the hardest SMW hack on record. =O

Still easier than getting hypnosis to affect the opposing Pokemon in Crystal.
The pipes don't register $77 (whether Mario is on ground or not) and that allows you to enter them as long as your speed = 0 and you have a precise position at the bottom of the pipe. If the player is on ground, $77 is set to 4, but I guess you could also check bit 1 of $8D for the same effect...
and then mario flew around using 2 keys. nobody has ever seen such a thing untill now.
I think that is a bit of an understatement.

A custom Super Mario World level considered too difficult to be played without using slowdown, frame advance, and savestates.

They're beyond Kaizo difficulty. Even the hardest Kaizo hacks don't require you to play the entire game frame by frame, pit hacks are a step above Kaizo.

Actually,this is a Pit hack,there's a big difference between Pit and Kaizo hacks.
If this is too easy then so is every hack that anyone has ever made in the history of ever.
It's Stickerbrush Symphony from Donkey Kong Country 2, a game that's full of great music, incidentally.
First of all, this is incredible! I would like to see wall clips patched out of pit hacks though sometimes. I'm not sure exactly why as it's definitely a personal preference. I suppose it makes me wonder why sometimes a specific trick or item is used to make a jump when I've seen Mario scale a wall dozens of times by just walljumping it. I'm sure someone will explain why I'm wrong.

5.28-6.07 is a remix of a music of Donkey Kong Country 2 of a level were there is cactus and spikes everywere in world 3,4,final
Epic TAS. I would die trying to TAS it. ಠ_ಠ I really like the amount of work put in both by the creator of this hack and the player. Really like how the map, music, blocks, etc were polished.
I have a silly question here, the version of "Stickerbrush Symphony" you used for the first level, is that just the SNES version of the song or a specific mix?
We used several smv's and linked them together, but roughly 85-90k frames and rerecords.
Which is why i put a "/" to Pit and edge since they're pretty much the same thing.
How does that glitch at 19:52 work? Did the palette of the blue Koopa somehow become transferred to the shell in Yoshi's mouth?

When I said that there was a level of difficulty in SMW hacks that was FAR beyond pit hacks, this was definitely what I was talking about. Good job... and what was the music at 10:30, by the way?

It's the music when you're in a cave in pokemon gold/silver/crystal. Might be the same music in the previous generation, I'm not sure.
I love kirby music. What was the song in the purple area? It's so relaxing!
Ok. I don't think It necessarily checks your vertical speed since I tried it in my own hack and I entered them midair while falling down. I'm pretty sure it checks for one specific y position, as I can't enter them while on a sprite that is one pixel lower than a regular tile (IE Grey falling platform, turnblock bridge)
