- Inspiring a greater appreciation for the value of exploration and discovery, Jacksonville University honored Apollo 15 Commander Col. David R. Scott with the 2023 Presidential Global Citizen Award. Col. Scott flew on Gemini VIII, was Command Module pilot on Apollo 9, and drove the first Lunar Rover on the moon as Commander of Apollo 15. A decorated pilot and engineer, Col. Scott has logged 546 hours and 54 minutes in space, of which 20 hours and 46 minutes were Extravehicular Activities (EVA). He is one of only three astronauts to fly both earth orbital and lunar missions.
In my humble opinion, Apollo15 was the pinnacle of the programme. Superb location, and Dave Scott was the ideal man to command such a scientifically bold endeavour. As an aside, I named my Greyhound “ Hadley” after the landing site. I have to say that some of the smells Hadley produced made me think that I should have named him Palus Putridenous!
Remarkable mind at 91. God bless.
Dave Scott really had the right stuff, his generation are inspiring.
Proud to be a JU graduate!!!
This smart old man has walked on the Moon..
Wish I could have s conversation with him.
He was very fortunate to be on the moon and on the other hand I'm not fortunate enough even to see him.😞
In my opinion David R. Scott is the astronaut of astronauts.
He's the only moonwalker I met! Does he still come to Brown?
Not many of them left.
Borman 95, Lovell 95, Alrin 93, Stafford 92, Anders 89, Haise 89, Schmitt 88, Duke 87, Schweickart 87, Mattingly 87. 4 moon walkers (including Scott)
@@Paul1958R I am afgraid you now need to remove Mattingly. Scott the only man alive to have piloted a CM to the lunar surface.
