I’m pretty young (18) and live in scotland been working a traditional stone masonry, been building houses with stone and mortar, I want to do more finer work as I love art... like chiselling letters and such hopefully will get to college after lockdown. Stay safe everyone!

@@hackbritton3548 I did I been doing it for over a year now. But fuck it’s hard work lugging around big stones all day in the freezing cold. This stuff he’s surely won’t hold up to the weather but anyways, I can’t see myself doing this full time though as I’m just not passionate enough for it. But my dreams have been realised and I’m finishing next year to move on to being a tattoo artist my true passion.
      So all is good…
It’s funny seeing old comments like this, I have learnt a lot in the past 10 months

Some masonry companies also do firepits, chimneys, fountains and other types of structure which do require a bit more creativity and isn't so monotonous, also if you think this is bad in the cold weather try doing in when the sun is beating down on you all day long.

I have been a stone mason for about 4 years now and it is amazing. Never the same old place never stuck in side for to long never have to wear a suit or touch a pin just swing a hammer all day. I want to start my own company when I get enough experience to feel comfortable.

It seems Stonework in Canada and the States is mostly tiling or slip form. Very different here in Cornwall, UK. Stone work is usually for the structure aswell as the aesthetics. I would like to try my hand at what you are doing as it would make a change from what I'm used to. All the best from one Stonemason to another. Fingers crossed for a kind winter.

The flower bed is a good idea for the slope entry of water, but wondering if the rain channels into the two holes or pools.. if there was a resevoir under the ground line this could also serve as a cistern collection .. not only useful for flours but you could probably incorporate that into raised bed system.. with wicks in the soil... ie like mop strands or purpose build wiking material... to draw the water up to the root level.. this is a good system of water collection and use .. if you had a hand pump you could also evacuate the cistern pool for watering etc... the idea is good.. but could be improved imo. Is the entire bed foundation a concalve in all direction so recessed on the friction slope ... also do you use a smooth stone leading into that area or does it drain along the pointing/creveses. also is there a picture of the inside of the bed before te soil is loaded? Good idea imo...

My man from a stone mason to another. These people who comment negative are clowns and jealous. I love my trade, as you sound the same. But dammit I honestly I hate masons they are a rough breed but more whiny then a high-school girl. Most people commenting don't own a business, and lack the ambition to. Masonry is like being an artist, each one has their own canvas so just worry about yours and stop judging the others. Cash is king and opinions are like assholes everyones got one. Sorry, but this is not really stone masonry, nice work, but sticking a thin stone veneer on block work is not stone masonry.

I cannot believe this comment. You'r a dumbass. Just because he's not working with big sandstones making driveways and walls in THIS video doesn't mean he's not a stone mason or doing stonemasonry.

    So your a tiler 🤔
Here in UK we use the proper stuff and if the customer wanted stone tiles thinly cut, I would not put my name to it. I lay bricks ,blocks stone and natural.....Not tiles. If that's what you like doing then hey.
    Can't beat traditional build.

Hey Pete, We understand and agree. We turn down some work when clients demands are extreme and we won't put are name on the work as well. We offer tile work for washrooms and other interior work but its not our bread and butter. Thanks for watching and we wish you and your business all the best in the year to come.
