And the actual lyrics are incredible too. She’s artistically incorporated references to actual moments that inspired the song and she does it very subtly. e.g. the “could have been so PERFECT” moment is taken from a conversation she had about her breakup with Derek Jeter, who she’s singing about in this song. But we wouldn’t even know that if she didn’t mention that conversation in her memoir. So that went unnoticed for the longest time. Makes me wonder how many more Easter eggs were unaware of. There were a lot about Derek for sure lol.

Wow I definitely slept on this one. Maybe because I was so consumed with Heartbreaker. However this song is straight up eargasmic, her adlibs and background vocals are top tier. Mariah has the ability to take you on a rollercoaster with her brilliant song writing and otherworldly vocals.
Yeah a lot of her songs were slept on because she was in a era of RnB where there were so so so many other high level artists as well. So a lot of her material didnt get the recognition it should've. Listen, go listen to all her albums. Every song is beautiful
