Mariah a genius. Bone Thug's Crossroads was the song that took the top spot from her Always Be My Baby song. She then collaborated with them for Breakdown. Listen to the beat, it's very similar to Crossroads (brilliant idea). She then copied Bone's flow in this song to match theirs and totally killed it. I remember my gf at the time listen to Mariah, and as a young teenage male, we didn't listen to Mariah Carey lol. Then this song came on and all I listened to everyday was this song lol

+Jocosta Raynor Mariah wrote this by herself, Jermaine doesn't even have a writing credit on this song. It's only Mariah, Wish Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Stevie J. Wish and Krayzie wrote their own parts and Mariah wrote the rest. The only reason Stevie J is listed is because he probably changed a word or two so it would fit better after production. Mariah always writes her own songs (by herself most of the time) and her co writers really don't do much other than slightly edit it.

I'll never forget the moment this album was stamped into my core memory. It was 2002 and I was around 8 or 9 years old. I was on a trip with my Grandmother and cousin, picking up fabric in NYC. This album was already a few years old at the time, so my mother didn't mind that I took it on the trip with me. I remember looking up at the sky and seeing the cranes still cleaning debris from 9/11. The whole time I shuffled through Breakdown, The Roof and 4th of July. It was an incredible experience. Now I'm 30 years old, living in NYC and occasionally I put my headphones on and look up at the sky, just as I did when I was a child
