I really like this project! Not only is it a useful piece for organizing, but it’s a great idea for inexpensive and easy to move stage furniture for plays. I also like how it keeps something out of the landfills as well. I’m also impressed with the weight capacity of this shelf! 😮
You're awesome. I enjoy working & upcycling cardboard. You're very talented & creative. I love the way you really think outside the box 📦 (pun intended). I'd love to see more cardboard furniture carpentry videos by you.
I've been waiting for a big undamaged box to arrive so I can make this, so when my fridge-freezer gave up the ghost I was super happy as I got a bonus when the new one arrived in a *huge* cardboard box. I'm going to go extra heavy on the reinforcing. 😀
Oh that's awesome! Yes a fridge box would be awesome for this project, they are more heavy duty than amazon box so that would be a great Idea. Share your project with us , you can do this on my Instructables.com page if you would like! 😎
Thats some amazing engineering…. Making things easy and yet powerful for the common man. Excellent tutorial..mind blowing….cant wait to try them myself…
Just made one, looked decent enough. I'll use it for my handbags. I'm not worrying much about the durability anyway since handbags are usually light weight. Thank you for the video.
I was watching this and I thought to myself "Why is this guy dressed like a Ninja?" then I thought "he's like a cardboard ninja"...then I looked at your name.... you are the cardboard ninja.
If I make a larger version of this with wider shelves, would it still be able to hold heavy weight like that, or would the centers cave? I would definitely reinforce it, but it seems like it might still be better to make them narrower for strength. Maybe make two and push them together? I'm in need of a lot of shelf space in my room and want to create as many as I can. Thanks. PS. I'm also wondering how that glue held up over time? Would it be best to use E6000 or is hot glue good enough? I'm using Gorilla Glue Sticks right now. TIA. Love your work!
Wow, I did a search for how to make desk shelves out of cardboard and your video was the 1st one and absolutely loved it that of course I just subscribed to your channel ! Um I hadn't noticed but are Amazon boxes corrugated ? Because it can withstand all of that weight !
Thank you so much Mario. The glue gun is from ryobi, it's their first model. Now they have a new model with dual temperature. I use an adapter on this wireless glue gun so i can you my dewalt batteries. Hope it help! Thanks for subscribing! :)
10 months late so probably won’t be relevant to you anymore, but the type of glue used does matter to an extent. i’d assume glue sticks would be largely ineffective for heavier things, since they’re largely made for sticking light pieces of paper n card together. hot glue, as used in the video, is much more durable and can withstand a lot more pressure. ultimately, glue sticks might be fine if you’re sizing it down and only using the shelf for very light things, but i don’t imagine it would last very long, and i’d suggest adding more support pillars in the middles of the shelves to take some of the strain off the glue holding up the corners. if you did end up making the shelf with a glue stick, please let me know how it went!!!
save your empty peanut butter jars, utz's cheese ball tubs, ect... one for pens n markers, one for q-tips, snacks, razors, knives, threads n needles, batteries, nuts n bolts, drill bits, coins, socks, rags, bags, tapes, glues, etc etc etc... see-thru, dust free, unbreakable, organized, last forever, free.
For some reason ... my shelf doesn't look at all like this, and is lop sided, .... but I guess there is a reason after all for the bottom shelf, and the reinforcements ... and the professional tools.
Can i make it bigger? I mean i need to put it beside my table top for my desk setup, my table isn't long enough so i think it will be good if i can make it longer by put some racks beside it.
Hey Su, Yes possible to make them bigger. But you would need a bigger box as I tried to make this project out of a single amazon box. As I used the corners of the box to make the "legs", this was the biggest I could make with this box! Thanks for taking the time to leave me a question, I really appreciate it! 😊
The shelves are only held together with glue, the weights you've placed are plastic and the water bottles are empty. It can't even support the weight of a book :P
Hehe good question David. For sure I'm not a fan of the camera ( and it don't add anything to my project to talk to the camera for 5 minutes, I really want to focus on the project ) but also because it's pretty cold in my basement. 😅
This genre of TH-cam videos has really died down. Glad to see talented people still upload cardboard crafts❤

This is awesome 👌.
Hi there , I love this creation, question is any old glue stick okay or is it a special glue ?

super good 🤙🤙
I bet some square dowels would make it even sturdier!

You could do two and glue them together
Has anyone test how long can it hold heavy weight? A knock test to see how well it hold the weight if someone accidentally brush against it?
That’s sweet
Thanks
Sabes dónde puedo conseguir una pistola de silicona como esa?
Can you make Montessori toy shelf ??❤
Superb
Do you have any exact measurements?
so damn cool, thanks bro
❤Awesome
The shelves are only held together with glue, the weights you've placed are plastic and the water bottles are empty. It can't even support the weight of a book :P
you realise ikea furniture is made from cardboard right? This won’t last as long but the strength of well build cardboard furniture is no joke
Are you blind? The water bottles are not empty and who would buy a plastic weights just to trick people 💀
I wonder why he switched to white glue for that one edge strip when he was using hot glue for everything else.
Thanx you :)
Can I ask for it's written procedure ?
very coo,
Классн 👍 А можно размеры узнать? Чертёж
