    There is 4 satellites that are interresting. From 28.2E down to 0.8W. Astra 28.2E the best satellite that's out there in 2024.
    Thor 0.8W, Hotbird 13.0E, Astra 19.2E and Astra 28.2E
    For many years ago, when Sky was analogue it was broadcasting on 19.2E and moved to 28.2E when it started digital.
    You may catch Astra 1, but you can't get Thor 5 and Thor 6 at 0.8W buy moving the dish because expample. In London Astra 2's elevation is around 25.3 and Telenor's Satellites: Thor at 0.8W is around 31.4 the elevation is 6 degrees between eachother. But where i live in the Faroe Islands i need a Wavefrontier Toroidal T90 Dish because of the elevation is to far from eachother
    Thor 0.8W - Elevation 19.5
    Hotbird 13.0E - Elevation 17.7
    Astra1 19.2E - Elevation 16.4
    Astra2 28.2E - Elevation 14.1
    Dish sizes
    Astra 1 - 80 cm 2nd best signal
    Astra 2 - 70 cm best signal
    Hotbird - 85 cm 3rd best
    Thor 0.8W - 90 cm 4th best reception
    It has been bad weather and with good reception. Astra 2 stay at 96% Signal Strength and 100% on Signal Quality both Freesat Beam and UK/Sky beam

      Yea I used to keep having to go up and down stairs to look at the tv screen to see if I've got a picture.
      I even used to use face time with my laptop and phone just to see the screen.
      But this meter makes this easier

      Yeah i used a basic meter when i set up the TV in the summer house. No real idea what sat i had found. There were plenty around though. Not as many as pre digital.

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      All the satellites are now digital.
      Even if you got a old dish as long as its got a universal LNB it should be able to receive digital from the satellite.
      old analog boxes are of no use anymore

      What Satellite Dish it doesen't matter by the way. if it is a analogue or digital Satellite dish. i use many satellites in the Faroe Islands. from THOR 0.8W, Atlantic Sat 5.0W, Astra 19.2E, Astra 28.2E and Hotbird 13.0E and i also have Sky+HD from UK. Astra 28.2E only need 60cm in the Faroe Islands.

    Hi there, thanks for the information, I have a few questions,
    As far as Im aware all TV satellites are in geo- synchronised orbit around the equator, so would it be possible to link up to a satellite beyond astronomical horizon? Say If I wanted to get American channels?
    Also following alignment, would a basic budget Freesat receiver box be able to access the satellite feed? Im just wondering if FreeSat boxes are locked regionally?
    Thanks.

    • @bobrew461
      @bobrew461 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most FTA boxes have options in their menus so that you can add "other channels". As far as getting US channels that may be difficult, as their footprint may not cover Europe. You would need a motorised dish the size of a house! But some channels like the NASA one are on transponders on satellites over Europe. It depends what channels you want. Not having much luck with the satlink meter so used my sat needle meter and seemed to of found a single for the humax box in about 20mins of tuning the pitch up and down with a little to the light and right..
    I set the dish to 20.1 and the compuss to 135 of south

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      on them needle meters I turn it so I can hear the noise and then move the dish so the noise gets louder and then you have to look at the TV to see what satellite you've hit

    I've the same satlink meter but having trouble trying to find a satellite... The dish is set to 28 on the scale then slowly moving the dish after pressing f3 and no luck..
    Does the meter need lnb set up

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My meter was second hand and already had astra 2 programmed in . I had trouble finding hotbird satellite so I went to a friends house he moved his dish to 13deg and once there I was able to tune in the satellite when I got home it took about 2 mins to find 13deg . the meter powers the LNB so you can watch tv on it. If you no someone with a astra 2 dish up ($ly) then tune the meter on that then finding astra 2 at home will be easy

    • @waynewayne3709
      @waynewayne3709 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah looks I'd need to program the sat astra2 in to the meter. On the dish bracket there are some 40 30 20 and 0 markings to get the elevation right, so astra2 would be at 28.2 and say 140 south east..

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Wayne Wayne all i do it set the meter to Astra 2 then make it bleep then move it so the beep gets faster and you should get a picture I’ll have to do a video setting up Astra 2 I’ve got a camping satellite dish I’ll use that

  • @gbelectricks
    @gbelectricks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’ve just bought that same meter. Looked at the instructions, they didn’t make much sense! I found this video really helpful. So just to recap. Freesat and sky are on the Astra 2 band? And you press f3 to get the beeper on, then start moving the dish, and a quick beep means the dish is pointing in the correct direction?

    • @2j4ez
      @2j4ez  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Select astra 2 28.2 Press F3 so it bleeps. move the dish till you get a faster beep. if it beeps fast and you have no picture then your on the wrong satellite. if should beep fast and display a TV channel I.E itv 1

      I live in the Faroe Islands. I bought a Sky Zone 2 80 cm dish from UK. I can receive all UK channels and Sky channels. I do have Sky Q from UK.. bad weather even storm weather i have no issues. This is because Faroe Islands is inside the footprint... same dish sizes as in Scotland. 80 cm. 70 cm works fine. But not when it is heavy storm weather. 80 cm do everything. No loss of picture. Signal Quality is 100% on all channels, but when it's heavy raining it goes down to around 87% and gain is 13.8 - 16.3 dB normally it is around - 16.7 - 17.4 dB

      Yep.. For a test run I used my bike tripod stand and a 6ft pole plus slowly adjusted it till the sat link locked on and adjusted the signal level to about 52%...
      Next is to blot a pole to the side of the house or my workshop and set up the humax box.
      Yeah the trusty bike stand works a treat as its the same type as yours.

    John 3:16-21
    16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
    17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
    18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
    19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
    20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
    21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God
