    I love the fact you are not afraid to tackle any job that comes up. You don't find many people willing to try things on their own much anymore. Your patience with this project was exceptional!

      Much appreciated!! And now hopefully a few less things will come up to tackle for a little while 😅

      With the back wall almost falling off And then the window and God only knows what else. You should take that RV back to wherever you found it and demand your money back Or Sue the hell out of them. There is absolutely no excuse for that.

      It’s definitely always something!

    Great video
    When i resealed my windows..i use byutel tape and did a clear bead of silcon around the window once the window was back in which seems to work great

    Front window came off during a terrible New England winter storm. Put a good bead of Locktite clear construction adhesive on, and it's been great since.

    I haven't had to do any of mine yet but I'm glad I got to watch you do yours for when I do. My a/c seal leaked once and I had to tighten the 4 bolts. I'm installing a solar off grid system right now. 4/0 wire is a bear to work with lol.

    After letting it set up for a day or two, I would have turned a water hose on that sucker to see if leaks. I may follow your lead and give it a go. Local RV place wants $125 per window (regardless of size)! Thx for sharing!

    On the way to Florida from IN. My slide toper come off and broke the same window you worked on but I didn't have to take it out it was the one that goes up and down 👍👍

      Oh gosh! We had a slide topper come off in a wind storm once 😅

  • @seekingadventures

    It’s good to use a foam gasket on frameless windows. Other type adhesive type gaskets like butyl tape does not release well on frameless windows if they ever need pulled out again making a higher chance of them breaking.

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This makes a lot of sense! Glad we went with the foam/sponge type now!

    I’ve had better results cleaning off old silicone and butyl tape using Mineral Spirits (the Low Odor kind). When I read the instructions and warnings for Acetone, I put it back on the shelf. :) Definitely wear solvent-resistant gloves when working with any of this stuff.

    My wife and I are on pins and needles… hehe waiting for the Baja vid! We’re invested now. We are planning to buy a Travel Trailer next year. Not quit so big (we only have a half ton) but somethin small just to camp around with.

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I bet y’all will have so much fun! Sometimes I wish we had something a little smaller. The bigger rig is great for full time and extra space but smaller is definitely easier to handle in various places

    Why do I have the urge to spray foam around that frame before the backer frame? Seems it would help in extreme temps.

    • @wildrvlife

      No, it’s a 2014 and we bought it in 2021, so it’s getting on up there in age a little bit

    Hello Victoria and Craig.
    My name is Mena, and my husband is Ricardo.
    we are new in your channel, and we want to thank you for all your videos.
    We are learning a lot with you because we are new in rv life.
    We bought a motor home in September 2022. we haven't moved in yet but we are in the process of it.
    We have a question?
    We love your outdoor chairs, the cream or beije ones?can you please tell us more about where did you bought from it?
    Please.
    Thanks again.

    Hi guys...not sure how I would have done it...but looks like you did a good job...may have used some type of caulking ...but if that works...all the better...stay safe...J&A

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe that on the non-frameless windows that’s usually what most people do! Thanks for watching!

    Another vote for the butal tape.

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I was back and forth between that and the foam..I think it would have worked well too!

    The foam sealing strips you put on the window, are they two sided adhesive? Also, great video.

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The ones we used were only one-sided adhesive. And thank you!!

  • @dougbowles421
    @dougbowles421 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should’ve use black butal tape then cap seal the top never mess with it again but you did good

    • @wildrvlife
      @wildrvlife  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I was going back and forth between the foam and butyl tape, but the foam seemed to be a little more popular for the frameless windows…hopefully it’ll hold! (At least as long as we have this thing lol)

    Acetone is the mother derivative 90 % of all solvents just in varying degrees. Do NOT soak your cloth and it will fine as it's evaporation rate is high and leaves less of a film .

    BLACK SEALANT FROM NEW ZEALAND MY SON IN LAW DID THIS, HE PUT HEAPS ON AND IT SQUISHED UP AND THERE WERE NO LIGHT COMING IN SO WE DID GET IT BUT THEY USED DOUBLE SIDED TAPE!?

  • @noeleenfalkner4557
    @noeleenfalkner4557 ปีที่แล้ว

    CAN I BORROW YOUR HUSBAND TO REMOVE SOME OF MY WINDOWS TO FIX THE LEAK IN THE BEDROOM IN NEW ZEALAND AND THE BEDROOM WINDOWS ARE LEAKING I THINK THEY NEED MORE THAN DOUBLE SIDED TAPE. MY SON IN LAW DID WHAT YOU ARE DOING ON THIS VIDEO AND SAW DAYLIGHT IN THE BIG BEDROOM WINDOW AND WE RESEALED IT WITH BLACK BOAT SEALANT AND ITS WORKED! NOW FOR THE BEDROOM WINDOWS I THINK THEY ARE SOME HOW LEAKING AND WATER IS GETTING IN ON THE CARPET. I HAVE BLOWN THE WEAPHOLES OUT BUT TOO OLD TO GET UP THERE 72 AND A WIDOW WHAT WAS I THINKING???

  • @acrazylife4378

    That looked like a "foam" product. Personally I wouldn't use THAT as the primary water stopper. I'd use the rv butle tape followed by using rv pro flex around outside seams and then for weathrizing use sprey foam in the crack between the window and the big gap the manufacturers made for thr opening_ then put the inside window holder back in.
