I saw R.L Burnside in The U.K Bristol in the 90s. I think Cedric was drumming at the time. After the gig I said great gig, he was very polite and said thank you. They were supporting Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, but I was more excited about witnessing the real mcoy R.L for the first time in my life. Their show put hairs up the back of my neck, it felt spiritual. My Uncle Nick fed meR and B as a kid.(And a bit of punk thrown in). He him self had put gigs on for the like of John Lee Hooker and Howlin Wolf. In the 60s Lonnie Donegan covering Lead Belly songs which inspired The Stones, The Beatles, The Who and others to start Skiffle bands. This is the roots, this is King, Thanks for sharing.
Been watching Cedric for a few years, saw him sitting in with Kenny Brown at the Shack Up Inn in Clarksdale, and saw him and Trenton at the Juke Joint festival two years ago and at Martins in Jackson about a year back. Every time is better than the last. Great drummer and he's in the writing groove now. Good to see Luther in the back grooving on it too. Well, Well, Well.
I had no idea who he was when I stumbled into a bar in St. Louis, man I'm telling you now so glad I did, I'm not even a blues fan per say! This dude is amazing!
I love how this music gets the soundman jukin' along with it. It happens in multiple videos of Cedrics and if you play this music your self. Soundman be comin back at ya!
I meet both dwayne and cedric..both cool...dwayne outside at bradfordville blues club..tallahasse fla...kim had to call him back in..we were partying...😁
Cedric is a virtuosity in minimalistic drums. So simple. Its a shame that no band get to take advantage of that talent, as thats where his real talent lies, simplistic drum playing, not in him being the star himself making his own productions. Ingenious minimalistic playing, which ever the instrument, is somewhat hard to come by, for several reasons. For one, when trying to accomplice, you cant hide your mistakes behind advanced moves or sound. For second, if you are lucky enough to have the talent, you are able to make music from, for example, two beats, kick and snare, plus that hi~hat... whheeellll... need I say more... Having said that, I urge you to read again the third sentence of this post... Cheers, The cigarret thieving rascal
They sure know how to enjoy themselves in Mississippi ! I saw him in Brighton. What a set ! ,especially when Cedric and the guitar player swapped places .How do they do that ?
This is my favorite Cedric and Trenton recording I’ve seen. Great lighting, great sound, and slick post production. Nice work. Question for the Filmmakers: Did you guys use a smoke or haze machine? And did you light for amber or do it in post? You guys nailed the soul.
Hey man, I'm the director. We definitely used a hazer, and I can't remember if we used any gels, but the room just has an amber quality to it. We didn't do much color in post. Glad you like it!
Someone please help - I’m trying to work out this riff - I love it! I’m doing this; hammering on/pulling off D string fret 2, then sliding from 2 to 4 then back to 2 on the G string, thin hitting fret 2 of the D again. Doesn’t massively sound right though. Anyone?
