I have had the same number for 17 years and get a few scam calls.
I do a pretty good Jimmy Stewart voice, usually ramble on about having gout and how sometimes my feet hurt so bad instead of getting up to pee I just piss on the floor.

when I got scammed I wanted so badly to believe it that even when I knew deep down it might be a scam I kept going. after my money was stolen I begged the scammer to get my money back and of course, they laughed in my face so seeing this gives me the best satisfaction!! I've worked in retail for a very long time, sob stories are a very, very, very common tactic people try to employ when they are trying to scam you. It sucks because it just makes you so jaded that when someone has a real issue, they're guilty until proven innocent automatically in your mind. Very difficult to separate yourself from that line of thinking once it becomes ingrained.
