I've worked in retail for a very long time, sob stories are a very, very, very common tactic people try to employ when they are trying to scam you. It sucks because it just makes you so jaded that when someone has a real issue, they're guilty until proven innocent automatically in your mind. Very difficult to separate yourself from that line of thinking once it becomes ingrained.

I do a pretty good Jimmy Stewart voice, usually ramble on about having gout and how sometimes my feet hurt so bad instead of getting up to pee I just piss on the floor. Still waiting to hear from safty Dan myself!! I had to edit because I spelled safety correctly on accident.

when I got scammed I wanted so badly to believe it that even when I knew deep down it might be a scam I kept going. after my money was stolen I begged the scammer to get my money back and of course, they laughed in my face so seeing this gives me the best satisfaction!! ( plus I also go my money back!)
It’s so funny to me the way scammers get angry and yell at the person they’re scamming. They hang up, tell the other person they’re done and they’re on their own. They also get so offended when others are in their account. They immediately get offended and say “you’re hacking me?!? How could you do that? Please noooo” You would think they would do anything they can to be as polite as possible when they have a so called “fish on the hook”. When they get rude they increase the chances that the person hangs up and they put the work in for nothing. I guess they get anxious/excited that they are so close to succeeding and don’t want to waste time or give the person more time to figure out that they are being scammed. It really gives it away that they aren’t a real support agent. It would take quite a lot more than silly names and whatnot to get a real support agent to freak out like that. For one the real calls are recorded/reviewed. They would be fired immediately.
