  • In order to install my new 6-point safety harnesses properly, I need seats with the proper slots. After a lot of searching, I ordered these great seats from Corbeau. This is part 3 of 3, where I give my final thoughts on the seats after living with them for four months on both the street and the track.

    I'm eager to take my 350Z out now that it has a roll bar and harness finally. I do plan on upgrading the 987.1 S but I won't be going quite as extreme on the track options with it.

    Just put these in my 996 track car and love them. I also got the heat and lumbar - both work great! I am curious - I am planning to install 6-point harnesses and was not sure of the PCA requirements for mounting the sub belt for these seats. The standards on the PCA site state you should have an anti-sub strap and that it should be "mounted in an approved manner consistent with the manufacturer's instructions". There's nothing I can find from Corbeau on mounting the 2 sub straps. Did you mount them to the floor, the seat rails, a separate sub bar mounted to the seat? Thanks!

      I drilled through the floor pan and put in two eyebolts (per seat). I considered a sub bar connected to the seat but that didn't seem right to me. Although if the crash is bad enough that the frame seat tears loose from the floor I'm not sure it really matters now the sub belt is mounted :)
      The language from PCA seems to be talking about the harness manufacturer's instructions, so I would go with that. However, tbh, nobody is going to look that closely.

    Love the seats! However, having an offset Corbeau logo is a deal breaker for some.

    Hey Cliff, I noticed you have a GT4 wing on the cayman. Did you install that yourself and have links to share or did you buy it with that wing already?

    Thank you for the review! Quick questions if you don't mind : how's the lateral support when taking a sharp turn. Do you fing yourself sliding a little to one side or do you stay held in place by the bolstering? Also, do you sit lower in them compared to stock seats with stock sliders? Really appreciate it

    • @CliffsGarage
      @CliffsGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I find the lateral support to be excellent, especially combined with the 6-point harnesses. It's not so tight that it's uncomfortable, but I don't feel like I'm sliding around at all. Keep in mind that these RRX seats are a little wider than normal, as am I :)

    • @Aeneas137
      @Aeneas137 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RZAtomic The RRX seats have a slot in between the front and middle cushion for a sub belt that goes down through the slot and attaches to amount under the seat. That's the fifth belt in a racing harness.

    I wouldn't recommend anyone running a racing harness with a reclinable seat. That's how you get badly injured or even killed in the event a bad wreck.
    Your head is getting pushed forward with a helmet on because you're using a HANS device on a seat that isn't designed to see that. That's why 1 piece bucket seats advertise HANS compatible.
    I'm sure they make great seats for a street car. But they're not "racing" seats. Also I don't know how how you passed tech, because that's a liability on how your car is setup.

      @@Aeneas137 there's nothing elitist about my remarks. I call out the reality of it and if someone's butt hurt over it, it probably means they're insecure about their poor choices. In the grand scheme of all things, I'm just putting out a disclaimer for those that don't know any better. What they choice to do with information after the fact is not my concern.
