    Wow, I thought this would just be a cheap content video to push Blaster products line, but this was a ton better and informative than what our garage door installer told us to do by saying we should use WD-40 on it every 6 months.

    This is the best tutorial on this site for lubricating a garage door. My door had so much crud and grease on the track that lubricating it alone would not work. After cleaning out the entire track and the hinges, my door opens smoother and quieter than ever before.

    I had a credit at home depot, and passing by the spray lube aisle, I picked up a can of this. Went home, watched the vid and got to work...AND HOLY COW, IT WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!! Thanks!

    Very good video. I've been doing my lubricants wrong& I need to clean it out after 30+years. I'll also get a pack of nylon rollers

    100% accurate. I learned the hard way. White grease worked well for a couple months. Garage door started getting stuck. After inspection heavy dust and dirt build up like he said. Should have went with the silicone base instead. Thanks for for video. Wish it was the one I watched before spraying.

    I know you are selling a product here but by far this is the best video I have found on this. Much of what you point out I have seen comments from other garage door companies cross referencing such as the lubricant and the flat spotting of the rollers. Excellent video.

    Best video ever. No one says to clean the hinges first. I used the Blaster white lithium (based on recommendation from other videos i watched years ago) and my hinges are caked with goo and dirt. Went out to buy a citrus degreaser to clean the hinges first then apply Blaster garage lubricant.
    Thank you so much for sharing!

    Thank you, I bough my new house a year and 1/2 ago and the garage door has started making a slight noise. I wasn't sure if it needed some lube or not so I searched and found this video. Thanks for helping me figure out what needs to be done to keep it working like new :) I'm buying the sprays on Amazon :)

    I just had a situation where Blaster solved the problem. Last week when the temperature in my neck of the woods was below zero and barely above zero for days, I went to drive to the market and the garage door would not open. Thinking it was perhaps frozen at the bottom I mixed some de-icer into some hot water and poured along the door inside and out. Still stuck.
    I live in a rental and after doing a bit of research and inspecting the spring, etc., there weren't any signs of mechanical failure, so I thought before I call for maintenance I would rush deliver a can of Blaster, with a warmer day coming up to try that solution first.
    Well, I just finished lubricating it, and it opened like a charm and was much quieter too.
    By the way, I knew I could use the cord to decouple the carriage, but it's an old house with an old heavy wooden garage door and I just recently tweaked my back so figured waiting a few days for a possible solution would be best.
    Anyway, hope that helps someone so that they try the lube first prior to a maintenance call.
    I lubricated the spring, rollers (not the track, but did clean it as suggested), cable wound at the top pulley, pulley bearings, all flex hinges, carriage, and screw drive assembly.
    Under 7 bucks and a little time, was all it took. Not covered in this video, I advise using some goggles to protect your eyes and some good ventilation going. Definitely don't breathe in the mist, and it creates a ton of it while spraying even with the aiming tube attached.

    I thought I needed a new garage door because door kept getting stuck midway. Homeowner friend told me to lubricate the doors. Your tutorial is excellent. I'll go online and order the product. Think you represent the product very well.

    Wow when you put the lithium grease on your hands vs the silicone lube… that really sold me to get the silicone one instead. Definitely don’t want all that grease sitting in your garage door collecting dirt!

    Just finished doing this with your product. I really didn't have a squeaky door, but I had never lubricated the door parts ever, so this should help now that I know it is routine maintenance. It sprays easily, and I really didn't have much mess at all.

  • @tomatexelon
    @tomatexelon 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    FYI - You shouldn’t lubricate the last 2-3 inches of the torsion spring(s) on either end, you can clean and lube the center but stay away from the ends because this is how the spring attaches to the (red) & (black) winding cones.

    Only suggestion I have is when you are cleaning the tracks, just put the door up so there is nothing in the tracks. Then you can wipe all the way up and down without having to go around the wheels. I clean around the wheels really well, then put the door up, then clean and grease the tracks.

    Tip... I aleays put a single column of old newspaper on the outside center of the garage door with painters tape. Keeps drips off the door as it's being opened and closed to work in the new stuff.

    Thanks for the informative and comprehensive video. I watched this first, then went and bough a citrus-based degreaser and and a second can of "Jig-a-loo" (no affiliation with this product, have used it before). I never did the cleaning before, but I did remove a lot of gunk while doing it. Then used the silicon spray and voila - a quiet door finally! Will do another round in late fall and then in the spring, as our door gets a lot of use. Great video!

    We had to use the emergency release on our opener. It won't re-engage. I believe the carriage, just the part that is supposed to re-engage with the bullet, needs lubrication so it pops back up into engage the bullet, which it is NOT doing now. Is the garage door lubricant suitable for that?

    Thank you for the detailed video. It’s very helpful. I had a doubt, if my door has a chain drive instead of dog the shaft as you have, will this product work on the chain drive? Should we first degrease the chain and then apply this door lubricant?

    Does the citrus degreaser evaporate on its own or does it leave an oily residue? Would a brake parts cleaner that evaporates be better to clean everything first?

    This video mentions that if one has a belt drive style garage door opener, not to spray the garage loob on the belt. How does that loob or lobe looks like? I want to make sure I don't spray it but I don't know what to look for since I have no idea what a loob or lobe looks like and I can't figure out the spelling either to top it of....help please ;)

    Nice video. Bought a bottle. Garage door hasn’t seen any love in 5 years and noisy as hell. I have a belt. Should I also lub the tension springs? Lub any joints of the belt drive that connects to the door itself.

    • @BlasterProducts
      @BlasterProducts  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, lube all the pulleys and cables related to the springs. You can apply a small amount of Garage Door Lube on the pulleys related to the belt drive but as stated in the video try to keep the product off the belt as much as you can. Worst case scenario, the belt could slip if it's lubricated.

    Do you degrease the chains and the bottom of trail as well before lubricating? I found the trail has very dark dirt on it and not sure I should wipe it or just lubricate on without cleaning.

      By doing this manually it doesn't put stress on the start capacitor where it can overheat then pop. Then you have a whole new problem. Learned from expereience.
