Kinda nitpicky but the ammo change is more of a 7-10% nerf. Almost any time any dex weapon is hitting you they are already sitting on 150% base damage, so in practice I don't think it'd ever be as low as 5%. I do think there's a bit more to comment on there though. If it truly is base damage, then base damage reduction gets even worse against those weapons, and those weapons have LESS incentive to prioritize their own base damage in their builds. For example, bolt caster lights/heavies are on 15% (light armor)+20% (bolt passive)+5% (enchanted) = 140% base damage multipliers without even including anything from the bow tree (where they get an additional 10% for heavies and 10% for further than 10m, making it 160%). This is actually a larger nerf to boltcaster than it is to other bow builds, especially because boltcaster is also forced to take enchanted. I think what we're going to see from dex weapons is less focus on base damage and boltcaster itself will likely fall out of favor entirely unless you're just going glass cannon 49% empower with evasive tactics. I don't really know what will bubble up as a meta option but I'm sure with all of the time and coin people have already put in to boltcaster builds that it will be a while before anyone cooks up something more optimal. But overall this is a pretty big dps nerf if ammo is replaced with base dmg. This is like everyone getting free Koya's. Med bow spear with shirking heals and the hoplite crap will probably slap though. Unless they're introducing some new counter to DoTs that I am missing.
@@DblTapSlapMcGap Kinda depends on what you're comparing it to or how you play. It was the best burst bow still if you were full glass cannon, and the only bow that could make light attacks hit hard (thus making it optimal for sweaty war builds built around animation cancels). Now it gives you way more base dmg than you want on top of a perk that probably isn't BiS anymore (enchanted) alongside a perk that def isn't BiS (shirking lightning). It's kind of ass at that point unless you're going full harnessing but afaik that was a niche build.
Re 300 con change and suggesting War Hammer will be ideal for PVE offhand, I don't disagree but I'd say Greatsword just became even better because of the block whilst heavy attack passive you get with it. This just happens to be my build already so I'm ok with this.
There is a good value with Upheaval : the perk allows you to transfer 2 debuffs. There is the kite artifact that removes debuff on block. And you got debuff removal on heavy atks. @mecrow do you know if they fixed the GS abilities? Like Crosscut desyncs back to the first hit in combo so you don’t get any movement, or if skyward can now be directionally turned again? Or the slow/self root startup on relentless rush?
Meteor Shower also had duration increased to 6 seconds, so does more total damage and keeps Disease longer. That can make it more viable in PVE group content too (and Disease if not needed can be just skipped since it is the last upgrade). It also no longer has a cast time and now has a weird staff spinning animation to activate, but it is still faster than previous 1 second cast. They also changed Incinerate upgrades, but likely for the worse - now it is just worse Maelstrom with lower damage, lower radius, lower Weaken and 1 hit instead of 2. Really needs another design pass / buffs. As for FFA island - it would likely be heaven for Muskets (long-ranged and single-target focused so less likely to hit potential flagged allies) and to less extent Bows and Fire Staves (also ranged, but either more AoE focused so can hurt melee allies or with lower range for abilities).
