Wow, what a payoff, beautiful finish! This car will look really special out in the sun with all the chrome dressings. Definitely line it up side by side with your own.
My dad has a 69 convertible camaro hes had for 30+ years now and he painted it himself. There is some minor imperfections but he just wanted to get everything painted. We can fix the imperfections later. I just want it back on the road but I just came from BackYardBoyz youtube channel and your work is awsome. Keep up the great work bro!
What a nerve wracking job. Making sure the lines are all straight and true and then removing all the tape when it had to fully set up. Awesome job Kandy Man!
Absolutely insane finish love the custom paint finish work. Keep the videos coming every time I watch the videos I learn something new from the master loving your work.
Me too. I'm trying to paint my 1972 442 before winter. Mine has the W25 hood so the hood stripes will be the same. It isn't a W30 so mine had the thin pinstripe so laying that out will be a challenge. I'm painting the car with Viking Blue Duracryl lacquer with High Performance clear lacquer. Haven't painted a car in 25 years to I'm hoping it turns out OK just like back-in-the-day!
im about to paint my 69 camaro and was on the fence about painting the jambs first. I will do mine just like you did this awesome car. I see you used a different clear on the stripes. Is that so its not as noticeable when you run your hand across the stripe? When color sanded does the edge go away on the stripes? Thanks for the great videos
I didn't expect the stripes to be white and was waiting for him to apply the final color. When he said "thumbs up" there was a moving gradient over the voting buttons. I've never seen it before.
Looks good. So, are you using water-based color but solvent base clear? So, all primers and sealers are solvent based? Can you show how to put stripes under clear? Would you paint stripe base first then overall color then clear whole car?
The Cutlass looks amazing the whole team at your shop has done a great job as have you Kandy Man with an awesome spray job👌it would be cool to see both Cutlass's side by side👏👍John UK
Just a question.....did you use a pre-cut vinyl paint mask kit from a place like Phoenix Graphix or did you lay this out all by hand with measurements from the assembly manual. I took measurements from my original car before I began stripping it. I was going to use those measurements to hand lay out the tape to mask it for paint. Well, the car is painted now and at 72 YO, I'm not so sure I'll do iot freestyle. I bought a stencil kit from Phoenix Graphix and plan to install that to paint. Just trying to figure out how to get the side pinstriping to lay on properly! You do awesome work!!
@@kandyman5315 Yeah, I'm a little nervous about sticking the three sections down each side and getting them straight! Trying to get the curved part over each wheel opening right and then sticking the straight sections in front and back of the opening is the tricky part. I think I may use the Dawn in water in a spray bottle trick to give me a chance to work with both ends. I'm going to apply the trunk pinstripe and the W25 scoop stencils firs to get acclimated to the vinyl. Then, the side pinstriping last! For the side striping i think I'll get my wife to help with another set of hands. Take care!
Sam sent me. I also have a question, I am considering getting an aftermarket widebody kit for my charger and it would be just the fender flairs, so what would be a reasonable price to be paying for color match and paint.
Well kandy man… I work at a aluminum boat manufacturing company and 4 of the 5 painters are leaving most likely. 1 is already gone. So it looks like I will get out of prep and into paint sooner then I thought. I’m excited but the lead painter with all the experience is fed up and about to quit. So I won’t be able to be thought by him… the only painter left is a joke unfortunately. He’s 3 years in and I can out spray him.. so I’ll have to learn everything from you if I have an issues
How long do you have to let the sealer release before you can put your first coat on if you've cut it down like that? Do you just give it the same 10-15 minutes in the booth?
@@kandyman5315 im in tampa once a week for a while for cancer treatments over at moffitt not sure how far you are from there. ill try to get with you next week normally im south of you. the shops near me suck. only one good painter and he is great imo but the rest of the shop is terrible. and otherwise i have to head down to miami. id love to talk to you about my xkr.

Fantastic video as always! Any advice for spraying under 1959 Chevy fins without making a mess of it? (metallic)
Take it slow and give good flash times In between coats
@@kandyman5315 Should I hold the gun sideways to reach the deeper parts? Thanks so much for the quick response.
Hard to say just be careful and take it slow
Gold and blue had to be the most popular factory colors.
Love it
All those yrs of experience pays off k man immaculate prep bruh dont expect a half assed job from you mukka 👌👌👌
Would like to see how you laid the stripes out template or not

The clear I used was for fast dry times we were not trying to hide edge .this is how it was done originally over the paint
Nice job! Just wondering why you didn’t paint the white after the main base and then clearing all? Trying to learn different techniques.
These cars had the stripes applied over the clear .1972 so we were going for the oem look .but yes you could go with it the way you said
You the man again..
Thank you

20 plus
@@kandyman5315 Thank you.
It would be way more authentic if you used the guns or spray system back like they did in 1972 lol
I think it would have been better with single stage. The edges of the stipes (the sealer and the base) are not covered by the clear and will degrade.
Thanks for your thoughts
Awesome
Looks better than factory 👍👍👏
