I owned, at various times, 4 of these cars. Two '73s, a 1.7 and a 2.0, and a pair of parts cars, one '72 and one '73. Great fun, and, back in the days when VW air cooled parts were readily available and cheap, fairly easy to hot rod. With minimal money, you could get the type 4 motor up around 150 normally aspirated horsepower, which would make these very lightweight cars scoot pretty good.
Nice acquisition. I owned a 914/6 in Frankfurt Germany back in 1978. Little 2.0 liter six cylinder engine with Weber carbs. Somewhere around a hundred horsepower I think. Sure do miss those days.
Very cool! I like it! I use to see them all over Craigslist even up to 6 years ago very cheap. Even running, driving projects were like $7k. Those days are gone
Rust has always been the main enemy of these cars. It was said, only partly in jest, that if you tuned off all the lights in your garage and sat very quiet, you could hear the cars rust away. Never buy one without looking at the underneanth very closely. Mechanically they were reliable, once you converted from the fuel injection to carbs.
Not true. Someone else will buy and be glad to have it. Presents well and is a super fun car that you’re not afraid to drive. And, of course, it’s a manual! NICE!
Cool car, like every time
Thanks !! Just gotta keep finding them !!
Looks solid!
It really is a solid car !!

Ive got a 73.Like it better than my 87 911.
Can't go wrong with either !!
Thats cool. Why do you like it over the 911?
@@Jack-si2pg Way more basic and simple.
@@gidgettrophy why prefer simple? Less insulated drive?
Had one in high school 1979 chicks didnt know it was a slow poor mans porsche
it will also be more valuable
Perhaps, which is why I will include the original equipment with the car.
4 sale soon ? really ?
Yes for sale. I bought it to use a little bit and then sell it.
the car will run better with the original fuel injection
Maybe so. But since I didn't remove it nor know the reason for the removal, I'll leave it the way it is.
Only u would buy that
Yes I would. Over and over and over again

Clearly you don't speak for anyone else. 914 owner here, and very happy with it. Wonderful car.
