This series is popping even over here in the US. As someone who is way older than the characters I was absolutely amazed at how relatable these characters are regardless of country or language.
Even here in the US they just don’t make and tell stories that are as good as this.
This had me thinking of my own life finishing college and going through my 20s…going through all those states of sex, love, new friends, discovering career, growing up, and during my day there was HIV but no cure, so my personal story (including Kylie) didn’t have such happy outcomes.
This show (and apparently the book…which I plan to read) was just so amazing.
And although I know a lot of people may have been sad at the open ending where it leaves it up to the viewer to wonder what happens, it was just the right way to end it.
This show, by a miles, is the best gay series that I have seen in a very long time. I don’t even consider this a BL. This is just a human story.

Thanks for commenting! I agree, leaving it open ended makes these characters feel even more real. Life for these characters doesn't end with this series, and we wonder how they're doing as we move on with our own lives.

A really great BL and it was so interesting to hear your review, especially since you read the book. Think this was absolutely ground breaking.

Listening to you makes me cry all over again. I will never get over this series, it's more then a deep impression it's totally tattooed to my heart and will never leave me. (Your Name Engraved Herein did the same to me)You are absolutely right it is this series explore the human to its core. LGBTQ+ is very different in Canada so this opens my eyes to how it is in Korea. Here, in my corner of the world being Gay, lesbien, Bi, Trans all became normal so it saddens me to see how other countries like Korea still struggles with it. I hope Love In The Big City can open the mind of some conservatives. Being Gay is not a disease, they are born this way and it is perfectly normal. Thanks for your great video.

Thanks for your comment! I think Korea still has a long way to go, but Love in the Big City was a major step in the right direction.

Thank you for this awesome video! I didn't read the book, only saw the series and it was one of those that I was missing after I finished it. I enjoyed the beautiful sceneries, I would like to offer an opinion, I think that it is/can be relatable to queer people everywhere, not only in South Korea, as it is often true that queer people can feel alone in their sexuality and/or gender identity in the society.
I also like how you highlighted that Gyu Ho is Yeong's soulmate.
I really liked the overall character development that we could saw and I love how you highlighted that Mi Ae was able to fit into society while Yeong couldn't.. I didn't think of that but that is a perfect interpretation!
I am secretly hoping that after the ending Yeong and Gyu Ho met again and lived a nice life, because I feel like their relationship was really one of a kind :)
Thank you again for this video and I hope you can maybe release more videos about queer movies, I would love to watch it.

Thank you for your kind words! I think the ending with Young finally moving out of the apartment shows the amount of growth he’s had and that he’s now ready to start a new chapter in his life. When he was dating Gyuho, I don’t think he believed someone like him was worthy of love, which is why Young pushed Gyuho away. But on his second trip to Thailand, he looks back at his relationship with Gyuho and understands how precious true love is. Whether he dates Gyuho again or not, I think what’s changed is that Young finally sees that he is deserving of love and needs love.
      Thank you for watching!
I really enjoyed making this video, so I’ll upload more videos talking about queer content 😊

I cried on every episode, like every single episode. I still feel the pain, I don’t even think I can recover anytime soon. I can’t even finish your video in public because I am afraid I will breakdown again.

I watched “its a sin” and that was also raw, I would recommend you watch it if you haven’t already.
Side note: how does the book end?

@@dank1131thanks for the Tv show recommendation! The book ends exactly the same way - they fly paper lanterns, but theirs ends up falling because Young rewrote his wish so many times.

I binged watched it until midnight even though I had to get up at 5:15 a.m. the next day. It was totally worth it. Best KBL I've ever seen in my entire life.

@@DanguacI agree with that, but “Let the Curse of Taekwondo Be Free” is also along the same path and just reinforces how far Korean BLs have come.

This show feels like an asian/korean version of american tv show " looking", tho i like this one better despite its realistic depiction of gay people in korea, it still has this cuteness/sweetness to it which i really like 😂, i really wish there would be season 2 😊
