  • In this video, I explore astrology from a skeptical perspective, and discuss how you can incorporate it into your spiritual practice and/or witchcraft even if you don't literally believe that the patterns of the planets or alignments of the stars can have any tangible or objective effect on our lives. Even though I'm a skeptic when it comes to astrology, I'm still really interested in it, and able to incorporate it into my practice and daily life in ways that are valuable and meaningful for me!

I just got this idea-that being a skeptical witch or even pagan is a lot like choosing to see a movie in 3D rather than the “mundane” 2D. No one is putting on those glasses and thinking that the movie is actually being “physical-ized”. But that doesn’t mean it’s not a legitimate and powerful experience!
And who’s to say if any of this is “real”, after all? If not, it’d really suck to settle for 2D all your life! (This makes me sound like I’m obsessed with 3D, which I’m really not (lol), but it seemed like a great metaphor.) 😛
Another wonderful video! I have the same kind of approach of using witchcraft as a sort of reflecting pool for self-strengthening, evolution and transformation...with some actual power of some essence occasionally manifesting. I can’t wait to see all of your videos! So hard to find a well-studied witch AND skeptic! Kinda lonely out here.

I absolutely love your 2D/3D analogy-I think that’s a fantastic way of putting it, and it makes a lot of sense. I totally agree that the way I approach Witchcraft and spirituality and general is similar to consciously choosing to look at the world through different kinds of lenses. Even though we recognize our perception might be altered in some way from “ordinary” reality, it doesn’t make the experiences we have any less valid or transformative. Thanks for your comment-I’m glad to have met someone who thinks so similarity about witchcraft!! 😊

Thank you for all of your amazing content!! I have been wanting to get more into astrology but not sure how to approach as a skeptic and a scientist who doesn't believe the "literal truth" of astrology as you describe it. This video gives me some great ideas for how to do that! 💜

Thanks! I'd recommend checking out Bad Sign Astrology on Instagram--he's an astrologer who takes this kind of "skeptical" approach!

This is the first video I've found of yours, i loved this. Very good advice about using astrology or tarot for personal growth is great! I really enjoy pondering these types of spiritual correlations and try to make plausible explainations for them. As for the mercury thing, the planet could be having some type of tangible effect, it could be bouncing more solar radition or that the planet's gravity influences our technology ever so slightly but enough to cause errors as that physical force moves. I have been bery interested in science and religion and i believe they go hand in hand and that both practices can compliment each other when used objectivley.

That's wonderful, I agree that science and spirituality/religion can and often should go hand in hand. There's often a bias that they have to be antithetical to one another, but in reality I don't think this is the case. They can be used to explain and make sense of one another, which I think is great. Thanks so much for your comment--that's really interesting about Mercury too!

Loved this video! I keep looking at my birth chart to try and do a bit more shadow work but keep getting overwhelmed with all the aspects etc but your video made me realise I could also look at my horoscopes! Don't know why I didn't think of that before for some daily reflection, thanks for the tip!

Thanks so much! 😊 I’m glad you found it helpful! I agree there can be a lot going on in a birth chart that can make it difficult to work through. I think using horoscopes can make things much simpler, and can be really interesting to work with on a daily or weekly basis 😁

I consider myself a skeptical pagan/pantheist, and I LOVE tarot. But astrology makes my skin crawl. It is just sounds 100% new-agey to me and is a huge turn off when I hear my favorite tarot card slingers bring it up. Will try to have a more open mind about it though. Thanks for addressing it in this video!
