Rich people's money is usually in the equity market, not in the consumer stuff. They also have rebates, like borrowing money 25 pips below market rate, and lend money 25 pips above market rate, like a bank. Or charge people for transaction fees and such. They could make money on small percentages of cut by huge volumes.
I think there is a stigma that if your rich and you use coupons then your are put into a category of cheap rich scum, a money grubber and other things like that. People would probably hate your for making lots of money and then being a cheapskate. There is this idea that once you make a certain amount of money then you need to spend a lot of money, even though the reason rich people are rich is because they don't spend their money or at least not on anything that doesn't give the value of the money spent back at least double or try to at least.
I wish I could talk to customers the way she did, like cashiers have about zero control over anything, customers act like we can magically change the price at will.

And talking about the accent Tanya has - well definitely it is not Jamaican, I know and love Jamaican speech and 100% sure this is not it... Tanya´s name is Chauntae Pink (btw. she is a beauty - love her), she is an American and here she is trying to sound British (the way she pronounces "t", voice intonation, swallowing "r", use of "is it?", "isn´t it?", "are you?" at the end of the sentence etc.)

If coupons could make the bill from $70 to $12, that means the prices are hugely inflated. In the grocery store, the coupons are usually quite small, like 5%-10% off in certain fresh items. But they do offer large discounts for overpriced items. Like this mineral water from Himalayas, or something like Kobe beef.
Coupons give a dollar amount off, not a percentage off. If it took the bill that low it would more likely be that the prices ARENT hugely inflated. Let's say it's a really good coupon for $2 off. If the item is $5 it will bring it down to $3. Let's say the prices are hugely inflated to $10 then. That would take it down to $8. So the price gets lower with the non hugely inflated prices. Now of course it's a show so the saved amount is exaggerated, BUT we don't know how many items they bought. Let's say they bought a bunch of $2-$3 items, If they have coupons for ALL the items then it will come down a lot. Let's say $60 items with coupons for each and every item could potentially take it down that much (though I'd still say it's an exaggeration) Where if the prices were hugely inflated, then the final price would still be higher.
I mean Himalayan water and kobe beef aren't overpriced, if they are genuine they most often come from the other side of the globe, logistic ain't cheap especially for water and perishable. I you buy those genuine item you aren't stupid because you buy things with inflated price. You are stupid because you buy things that are produced from the otherside of the globe instead of buying things produce locally, that are often equally as good. Of course if you buy knock off, yeah you are stupid because you buy something with an inflated price.
Coupons work the best when the price of the items is marked down at the end of the month before it’s gets thrown out for newer merchandise. It also depends on the coupon, whether it’s half off or buy one get one free, and if the store offers some sort of store credit to their loyal customers, you can use the store discount on top of the coupons on the marked down items! So yes, it is possible for the total cost to go down drastically!
