Hey Kendra 🌸 You’re back and I’m here for it. 💖 We as black people need to stop patronizing these businesses that mistreat, disrespect us , and avoid adding anything to our communities.
That fact that you have to point out that wanting us to succeed doesn't mean we don't want others to succeed only shows that it's how they feel because that's how they interpret it.
As a traveling NMT, I had to master IV insertion really quickly. I remember when I first started out in the field, I would pray that God would help me do my IVs because I would miss the vein so many times. And I’m the only one who can place them whenever I work a site. Now that I’ve been doing this for a year and a half, it’s very rare when I miss. Glory to God for that! I didn’t even know about the Ebin thing. That’s fouled up and will not be buying anymore of their products 😒
Hi Kendra, so glad to see you here again! It's so true- why shouldn't we benefit from the money we spend? Paying ourselves and ours first? It makes the most sense to me...
I watch your channel as often as possible because I am impressed with your transparency and bravery to discuss the many critical issues that nurses face daily. I have the most respect for the wonderful care I received from multi-cultural nurses while I was experiencing a heart attack. I am in awe of your stories in nurses-thank you, thank you for openness. I fully support you in spirit if I can do something kind for you, please let me know. God Bless!
Kendra! I totally agree with your point on minority beauty supply stores. Which is why I only support the very rare but slowly emerging black owned beauty supply stores. More and more Afri-Canadian salons are supplying their customers with the very supplies they get at those other minority stores and I usually support those businesses too. Great topic of discussion, Kendra!
The thought of going back to school for a MSN or a NP makes me shutter a little in my bones. I commend all those who chose to do so, especially on Covid money. Kendra you are as responsible as I one day hope to me🫶🏽
I totally agree clinicals was way harder transitioning from LPN to RN. I added up all my clinical hours and I could have made 60K working. Only positive is its just temporary.
That’s where I am right now…just did my taxes… I could have qualified for food stamps last year. I went from 6 figures as an LPN to ketchup spaghetti working on this RN. Thank Goddess my BSN will be free.
I’m in the LPN program, these clinicals just makes me mad! Every Saturday, I get up and 🤦🏾♀️ 🙄 I work 7-4:00 and then have classes 5:30pm -10:30pm Monday through Friday and now got to wake up on Saturdays. Later in the program I guess it’ll be 12 hour clinical shifts!! 😒
Kendra you are so on point studying working and looking at options for work, to increase earnings.... we are all doing it to, maybe not studying but learning on the job.... times are tough and being creative in how you live, work, socialise or not! Is what so many are doing and yeah we dont like to be controlled.... life is for living not for those expecting to much ❤ love your makeup ❤your attitude❤come nurse in New Zealand❤❤❤
My unit got closed down last weekend. So I got cancelled for my Friday and Sunday night shifts. I'm part time and only work the weekends. We got and email yesterday saying the hospital census is still very low and the unit will remain closed through this coming weekend. They will reevaluate next Monday on if they will reopen it.. I used PTO but I'm down to about 15 hours. Until then I will have to rely on my prn job (I get maybe 12-16 hrs per week) and rental income. I keep checking my account for that direct deposit!!!!
I must correct you in regard to North Dakota. I lived in Minnesota, conveniently next door, and summers are miserable! Humid, mosquitoes the size of tanks and horse flies that don't die when you smack them, they just laugh at you! Don't go to North Dakota!!!! By the way, I'm always impressed with people who are good at placing IVs. They've just never been my jam. Foley catheters, no problem, IVs 😢.
I have lived in Fargo, North Dakota, for 15 years, and not once have I experienced any miserable summers or mosquitoes you mention. ND is a wonderful place to live despite the horrible winters. Kendra, don't hesitate to try ND as it's a great place to live, and the people are wonderful.
I moved to Fargo from Miami. It’s not humid here at all. In Fargo 80 and sunny feels like 95 in Miami due to the lack of buildings. Yes, it’s get hot but not uncomfortably hot. I do agree with the mosquitoes though they bite through clothes!
Omggg let me get my snack. The way I clicked so fast. You look cute Kendra. That’s crazy, but speak on it about the beauty supply stores are not owned by black people when we are the primary target audience for these stores. The only black people I’ll see in the beauty supply stores they are an employee or like an advisor. 6:55 that’s discriminatory. That’s crazyyyyyyy. 8:03 I just feel sometimes spiritually we don’t mobilize strategically to obtain progression because we are one foot in one foot out. IMO. We have power honestly we just have to move accordingly to get change. 13:58 girl gas and food I can’t deal. 18:34 I have to find an internship my first year in school and the pay is trash to rely on it alone. Or you dont get paid at all for all this work. It’s annoying
Black people gave this valuable industry away a long time ago and any who have tried to enter the industry has been blocked. Costs are also an issue when people seek cheaper prices.
Hello my friend! During Covid some agencies provided lodging, transportation and meals, however, it’s the nurses’ responsibility. It’s not worth it because the rates are so low.
Love watching your vlogs.Inspires me to hop back on TH-cam. Just so busy with work lately it’s hard to get back into turning on the camera. I know I have an interesting perspective and see a lot in this field. Thank you for the inspiration ❤
@@KendraRN thank you so much for the support. I shot about 5 long forms and I am trying to get the courage to upload. The paper writing is real😢 I get by setting an alarm for 1 hour for writing then 20 minutes for household things. And back to 1 hour writing and 20 minutes again. All day long. That's my weekend 🤪
I'm glad to hear you talking about the racism within the beauty industry. You've got groups that do not like Black people, yet they capitalize on our spending. It's gross.
Have u tried IntraStaff with Hopkins? My contract just got reduced with my renewal, still more than what's out there right now. It usually picks up n the fall. Many facilities have increased the pay 4 their nurses, but have not improved working conditions. I've learned that some to the unions on the East coast r trash. I'm not mad @ it though. U get what u negotiate sometimes. The next 5 yrs n nursing r going 2 b very interesting.
Kendra, North Dakota is a wonderful place to live. Specifically Fargo (I have lived here for 15 years). I am assuming the travel contract is with Sanford Hospital or Essentia Hospital as those are the 2 largest healthcare providers in the state. I hear Essentia Hospital is a good place to work.
17:02- Hey Kendra, try to shift your mindset on how you can continue to leverage your content and intellectual property so you do not feel that way when you are educating/investing in yourself. See this time as a blessing in disguise an opportunity to prepare for your next season as an NP. Stay encouraged, you are almost there!!!
21:00 try Sheppard Pratt they have contracts in Maryland with AYA healthcare. The hospital is terrible but you have downtime at night so you can study.
Hi Kendra. There's an article about pfizer " being sorry". Please read it since you're in the medical field. Its very interesting. I saw it from Dr John Campbell ( you tuber) , I followed him during covid.

When I did travel nursing (truth - this was 20 years ago) - the travel company provided lodging at no cost to the nurse - when did that stop?
Hello my friend! During Covid some agencies provided lodging, transportation and meals, however, it’s the nurses’ responsibility. It’s not worth it because the rates are so low.
That was b4 there were 100,000 agencies. Strike nursing still provides lodging.
@@KendraRN So sorry to hear that! Travel nursing used to be a good gig!!
They still “provide” housing but ummmm they are not the most kept up places.
YOOOO!!!! I didn't know about EBIN. They have a whole mission statement (EXCUSE) right on the front page of their website. I just saw that now. Smh
