I grew up in Carshalton 10 years before you Paul , hard life Paul , but as an adult there is nothing i could not cope with , so i would not change any of it .
This is the best podcast I have ever listened to. Paul Thorpe, what a guy. We need more people like him. I am leaving the uk as a base soon and cannot stand the way this country is going.
spot on, i actually live in brighton same as paul but im living in thailand , im going back soon as ive tidied up some loose ends here . this country is fukin doomed
A couple of great blokes! Enjoyed the chat and agree wholeheartedly with the last comments. This country is doomed. Our own politicians have sold us down the river. Even a large majority of this country cannot see the impending catastrophe. Your Gary Linekers and Lily Allens of this world are so blind! As a working class boy from the NW, i grew up in a terraced house in the 70's. It makes me so mad i want to cry at the way our own people would call you racist or a bigot for voicing concern at the current state of this country. We need to wake up soon! Thanks for the video boys, it makes me feel like i am not alone! All the best!
I grew up in Carshalton back in the 70s, got great childhood memories. I went to Rose Hill boxing club for a few years back in the day. I left school at nearly 15 with no qualifications made my own business become a millionaire by the time I was 40 and retired, then left the UK 5 years later and never looked back, I've had a great life , may it continue. 😊
Yes he was in my class at school, he got me into boxing . I knew Micky , George, and Steven all his brothers , George and Dave both good boxers, I often wonder if Dave is still alive. Small world lol 😆. if you knew dave there's a good chance i know you 😅
Just came across this channel yesterday and have since watched 4 podcasts. Liam is a very good interviewer and really enjoyed Paul's story. My mrs wont be happy that i've found a new channel to watch
@@Threemore650Paul’s podcasts are depressing,.full of woe and not very uplifting to anyone,.all he does is moan n groan, state the obvious and get paid for it,.I don’t know why he has that Danny in Spain on either coz Spain is not part of Britain!😂
Excellent stream. Paul has led an amazing life with some incredible stories. Having gotten to know him through the watch world i can tell you that he really is great company and an absolutely top man
born and bred in tottenham in 1984, met a polish girl when i was 33 who is now my wife and moved to poland in 2019, best thing i ever did, though i do miss the old streets of central london, the pubs and history of it all.
My dad ( the most honest man ever ) started a tv shop and a repair workshop in a village called shotts in 1964 i was only 1yrs old. His shop got broken into and all the stock was stolen. T.v. hi fi. S nicked..4 weeks later the seargent of the local station was caught with all the stock in his loft.. dad never ever got it back and was forced to close his business. In those days no insurance for that and had to start again from scratch took him almost 20 years to pay back the suppliers and keep a clean finance record.. the police got 6mths in jail..and lost his job.. the police are the biggest gangsters of all.. 😡😡👍
What a thoroughly, thoroughly, nice genuine down to earth man Paul is. I could sit and listen/watch him talk for twice as long as I just did. He speaks such sense and it's clear to see why people like Mr Al-Fayed wanted him around. Such a great straight talker, the sort I'd love to end up chatting to one afternoon in the pub. Good luck to you and your family wherever you end up Paul. And Liam, your new podcast is brilliant mate. I first saw you on James English's and loved listening to you, not so much some of your story due to the nature of it, but as soon as I saw you were doing one of your own I knew I'd definitely be a fan. Top interview guys, very interesting indeed.
Liam you're doing fantastic. Keep it going!! You're an excellent interviewer who listens to his guests and unlike other TH-camrs picks up on what they are saying and has the intelligence to continue the conversation, even when it may not be flowing in the direction that you had initially anticipated. Most TH-camrs have a series of questions that they rigidly stick to and even if a guest drops a bombshell they don't have the ability or confidence to change their line of questioning accordingly. The art of interviewing is being able to continue pressing for answers even when you're least expecting them and unprepared for them. You're fantastic at picking up on this which makes your interviews a real joy to listen to. You get so much more value with this open technique and i'm sure the guests feel far more at ease that the conversations are flowing naturally, rather than a regimented and concocted series of questions that only divulge a fraction of what could be revealed.
Great podcast Liam, I grew up in Orpington but later moved down to Eastbourne. I couldn't agree more with last segment of the episode the downfall of England as a country and society has led me to move away and start a new life abroad. I feel sorry for those less fortunate then myself that have to grind it out in the UK with young families and have no way out, it frightens me what sort of life my God son of 6 and niece of 5 are going to have the way the England and frankly the world is headed.
What’s happening in in South Africa is going to be attempted in every white Christian country. So unless you’re outside that, you’re not going to be able to avoid it. It’s my strong belief we are all in this together because the other side has made it about race. And the middle of everything has been pushed aside so you’re either with them or against them. They’ve taken the fence away, so there’s nowhere for me to sit. I hate that. I can not be on the side of those who see TR as an enemy. Who are pro what he is against.
I enjoy most of Liam’s podcasts, but i must admit I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this. Paul was very articulate and engaging. His comments about present uk society was very poignant .

Fascinating stuff Paul!!!…write a book!!! London has changed since the days of milk bottles on door steps up and down the Strand. Place scares the shit out of me now and I can’t wear my watches there to boot! Did you ever get your Deepsea Challenge??? Write the book!!! Great stuff!!!
Paul is quite an expert and well versed in spotting fake watches and unscrupulous grey dealers. Especially since his son sells fakes and Paul vouches for criminals. Good on Paul!!
Paul - in the 70s, a relative worked delivering wines and spirits around London. One Xmas time he delivered to a club in the east end and the concierge said 'There's a drink for you upstairs, mate'. No thanks, he said, I'm driving. The bloke repeated the statement and relative again refused. The bloke leaned into the drivers window and said 'Reggie says there's a drink for you upstairs!'. My relative said he jumped out of the van and said 'Thanks' - and followed him upstairs, downed the drink pdq and left. I rest my case......
This is why I buy fake Rolex watches from Thailand. Unless you take the back off no one knows the the difference. Then if a slag takes your watch you haven't lost thousands of pounds or Dollars
Honestly, so many podcasts put me to sleep, so boring, that I lose concentration and cannot tell you waht they were discussing. This one was great from start to finish, I was gripped. What an interesting character Paul Thorpe is. Thank you for the great interview.

I think that the old bill really didn't like the fact that this tattooed up guy, like he said, from a South London council estate has become very successful and they're earning a crappy wage for a hard job.
