- I thought 2 reloads would be plenty but not when your scope got bumped and is shooting low! I shot my gun two days before the hunt and it was fine! This is an educational video to show what can happen while hunting and ways to handle it. It's a documentary about Florida deer hunting with muzzleloaders and the downside of primitive hunting.
** I do not recommend finishing a deer with a knife if you aren't qualified to do so. Make your own decisions and DONT TRY THIS AT HOME!
You are a credit to sportsmen everywhere.
@@tomlandefeld7301 Thank you. I appreciate it!
Much respect to you sir! That was hard but you did the right thing. Too many times I’ve seen a horrible shot and the hunter stands there and celebrates while the animal is still in agony. You did it the right way!
Thank you. There are a lot of tough decisions to make with a bad shot. Sometimes not doing anything and waiting is the best option but if I can stop suffering I will!
Glad you posted this. Had a similar thing happen to me during archery. Arrow flew weird and hit him in the neck dropping him. Had to get down and put a knife to the heart.
Felt terrible for the suffering and was just glad I was able to put him to sleep faster.
Great hunt & great video!
@@ArcheryCommander Thanks man. I think it's something that everybody goes through eventually if they are lucky enough to get shots at deer. In the moment, it's rough and sad but eventually becomes a story and experience. It's also motivation to check and double check your gear and practice as much as possible!
Nice buck man. Thats a heck of a follow up from hunting with your daughter.
Tough one no doubt, you did the right thing though brother.
Thanks man! I'm normally a proponent of giving them time, but I could tell this one needed to be handled. Walking through those bushes with my last reload was pretty surreal.
@@thewildgame1 absolutely 💯
This is a good depiction of the trials of hunting. Sucks that it went down that way, but you had great follow thru, showing your respect for this beautiful Buck. 🦌 Congratulations
Thank you very much!!
I am an avid hunter, and a true animal lover. Much respect sir. I’m 45 and have never wounded a deer but I know there’s always that possibility.
@@ItsBigBoy79 thank you. I appreciate it!
What a nice buck, much love and respect brother!!
@@RetroDadOf9 Thanks man!! I appreciate you!!
I once had a few mallard ducks in my kitchen sink. I was about to start cleaning them. I promise you one of them came alive and started flying around my home.
I literally had to jump in the air to catch him. Chased the joker around for about 2 minutes. I felt horrible.
I call it the zombie duck. My best friend was there and witnessed. I think a pellet just barely grazed him and knocked him out cold.
The hunt doesn’t always go as planned. Nice buck
Thanks man! And Holy crap!! 🤣🤣🤣
As sad as that might of been, makes for a great story!!
Just found your channel. But after seeing you get emotional about wounding him and talking about not wanting him to suffer. Nothing but respect as a fellow outdoorsman
Thanks man. I get excited about finding success in the woods but always try and remember I'm also taking a life. Situations like this definitely are a good reminder!
Might wanna practice with it. Powder loads and pullet grains make a difference
@@sethscott4211 I did and do shoot every gun before a hunt. Something happened in the couple days between shooting at the range and the hunt. Once I get to a range, I'll update!
Crazy footage man 🤯 but awesome video nonetheless!
Thanks! Appreciate it!!
Any tips on how to start hunting Florida public land? I hunt every year in NY but since I live in Florida, I want to start hunting down here!
@@FLAJINAMAN find a management area near you and start reading the regulations! Then scout. The more time you spend exploring, the more you will be successful. What area do you live?
@ I’m in south Florida, I know big cypress is the closest… it just idk if people are pulling hogs/deer out of there
Badass hunt. Good job
@@patrickhamonet4633 Thanks man!
What kind of muzzle loader bullets did you use so I won't buy those?

Not sure the bullets are to blame but I'm probably going to switch back to the Hornady sst😂
That stuff happens. I started only hunting with traditional blackpowder guns a few years ago. That happen to me one firat i shot so now i may look stupid but i always carry a big belt knife. Just incase. I have cap and ball pistols but they are not legal
Old timer told us to use Barnes bullets for muzzle loader said deer bleed better and expire fast we have been shooting 150 grains of powder and it seems to do way better also
@@Freedom2219 anything but powerbelt! They rarely exit and lose more deer than rage braodheads😂
Not easy to do. Know how you feel. Lots a meat
Yessir! Always brings some feelings when you have to put hands on one. Lots of meat! Had some back strap last night!
think i saw u guys out there, monday morning?
@@louisfoster9425 I don't think so. This was Nov 2... I hunted with my dad Sunday and he got a doe. Was working Monday!
That’s why you carry a handgun for times such as those
@@vergilmorgan3179 solid point. Left it in the truck that morning!
My cousin shot on 4 times here in Florida before it expired
@@Freedom2219 dang man! I was taught to keep shooting until dead. Problem here was no more bullets!
@@thewildgame1😂😂 same that’s how I was taught
Not the way anyone would want it to work out. However, it is hunting.
Exactly. Happens to the best of us!
I had to put one down like that once, not a fun experience.
Yeah man. Necessary but never fun.
