I’ve never seen an interviewer so consistently asking the worst questions. Enya handled his shallow interviewing so well. Not letting him getting away with an answer that isn’t what she said. If I was on the bench as a backup interviewer during it I’d be like “put me in coach!”
Enya triumphantly pulled through so many 'rather strange' interviews, beautiful, intelligent, Ireland's shared treasure with the world, a creative musician, wonderful song lyrics by Roma Ryan, & Nicky Ryan's amazing Dublin recording studio work ... year's pass ... late at night ... still in love when listening to Enya's voice ❤

Enjoy this very very rare treat!` But in all fairness to her she was not only huge in Europe and the USA, she also did manage to break into Japan with her unique sound and that helped her to become one of the richest ladies in music. Does not even tour, just put`s out albums from her own studios on the grounds of her Killiney/Dalkey castle. Covid isolation came and went and Enya didn`t notice a thing! Very charming and smart lady indeed.
Sitting in the peace and quiet is a sign of self contentment no false celebrity public displays of pretending to be happy with a fixed smile like a mannequin , she is beautiful inside as well as outside
Shay Healy died last April. Imagine Enya feeling not on an equal standing with the rest of her musical siblings (Clannad). Enya what a beautiful woman you are, other worldly. Refined and pure souled, untouched.☘🧚♂️🇮🇪
Instead of asking questions, he is stating first the answer, which turns out to be wrong. Like "It's Enya, but pronounced Anya, isn't it" "no, it's Enya". Or "what about this reclusiveness, that's NOT really you, is it". "it is, very much"
Regarding her name , you would think the interviewer would do his basic homework, before making a fool of himself and making the girl feel uncomfortable . Piss poor preparation equals piss poor performance!
She has a real grand accent mixed with Donegal, probably because she was educated by Nuns in a boarding school. Irish is her first language, which is probably why she sounds different.
What a thing to happen to a Superstar, the great Enya walks into a Fish N Chip shop and gets challenged by the owner, Mr Fish N Chip shop man starts asking very personal questions of this very fine lady, I bet when she managed to escape that she never came back, I bet that from that time on she had Fish N Chips delivered to her studio,
This was an Irish show called Nighthawks and the idea was that you were in an American style diner rather than a fish and chip shop. She was being interviews (badly, I will admit) by Shay Healy, a famous Irish musician and songwriter. His show was a great success. He sadly passed away last year.
It is narcissism sir. It is so common now, fueled by celebrity culture and the media fanning the flames of our egotistical stupidity. There are so many people infected, we no longer recognise the disease.
Can't help cringing when he keeps getting her name wrong! No disrespect to a person interviewing but bloody hell! I'd not expect that kind of lack of knowledge of the Irish language from someone in the Free State! The occupied north or in Britain or the US yes, but not the Free State! Ach well...

Didn’t know she is a superstar that far back. I only knew about her in the 90s!
1988 was her big breakthrough year. Album Watermark and the single Orinoco Flow which was a huge hit.
