    I don't have many wants or dreams but to have a beautiful bar in my basement is on that list; right next to buying a home. I'm not much of a drinker but I love community and there is nothing like having friendly neighbors over to watch the game and drink.

      Thank you very much! I’ve slowly learned video editing over the years. I started back in middle school editing small class projects for fun and now I run a TH-cam channel 😅 It does slow down the project a bit having to film everything and then the edits can take awhile as well. But the finished product of both the project and video as documentation continues to fuel the passion! Thanks for watching 😁

      Thank you so much! There was a bar here before with water lines already run in the cement subfloor so we didn’t consider too many other options besides a new and improved bar. We already have a TV/movie area but that would have probably been the only other possibility. The cabinetry was actually a lot of fun to build and they came out even better than I was expecting. Our kitchen was done by a custom cabinet shop and I’ve been told that my cabinets are of higher quality. The painting was time consuming and stressful but I’m glad I built them myself!

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I learned everything I know off of TH-cam! Been following diy and building channels since I was in middle school. Slowly picked up tips and tricks. If there is something I didn’t know, I watch a TH-cam video haha! So now I try to pass on that knowledge via my own TH-cam videos 😁 I’m actually a CPA and worked in strategy consulting before quitting to run GKD full time. My advice would be to watch a ton of videos (mine are great 😂) even if it isn’t something you need to know. You’ll pick up little tricks along the way that you can utilize on different projects when the time comes. Invest in some decent tools. I’m a Dewalt guy, but I hear Milwaukee is great too. Get a drill/impact driver and maybe a circular saw. You can get by with just that for awhile. Only buy more tools when the project requires it. That’s how I started and slowly amassed quite the collection haha! Hope that helps!

    • @GoldenKeyDesign

      Yes they could! Only thing is that they are not super strong. So if you plan to have a large overhang I would use ones that are more of a triangle shape as those are much stronger and can hold more weight.

      Thank you and good eye! The concrete was built up a bit around the plumbing so I had to cut the tile extra to make sure it would still lay flat. It all got covered up by the cabinets so it didn’t matter all that much.

    I was really thrown off when you caulked your new drain as a means of water tight connection to the existing drain. Good luck in the future if you have to replace all of those base cabs because of a plumbing shortcut going against code. Caulk is not a permanent water tight connection and has to be maintained after a period of time.

    • @GoldenKeyDesign
      @GoldenKeyDesign  ปีที่แล้ว

      The home was built 40 years ago and the I could not find a fitting to connect to the ones they used in the concrete. The silicone will last a very long time and this sink is not used that often. There is also an access hole in the base cabinet that I can easily access the drain and make any modifications if necessary.

      The old bar was falling apart with cracked tiles, a small sink, and it was very difficult to access given it being on an angle. I’d take the new bar in a heartbeat over the old version. But to each his own I guess 🤷‍♂️
