Colleen. When I was 10 years old I lost ALL my memories. My basement flooded and we lost it all. All my Barbie’s, all the baby photos, all of my parents childhood memories. It was truly one of the most devastating moments of my life. I truly hope and pray you do not lose the things you can’t replace. And also greave all those feelings of loss because it’s a lot…when your love language is gifts and things and memories…tangible things not having it is DEVASTATING. But, like I did…you will go on to make new memories and the important ones live in your brain forever and the thing isn’t the person it belonged too. I am truly praying a miracle for yours stuff.

Colleen! I saw you at the farmers market yesterday! Okay well actually I saw Erik first in the smoothie shop lol. I recognized him right away and immediately turned to my sisters and said "OMG it's Colleens husband!!" And then I was like "wait do you think Colleen is here!?" and then we walked out of the smoothie shop and saw you! I was so excited and literally just seeing you made my day. I wanted to say hi and show you a pic of me in fourth grade from when I was Miranda for Halloween but you were with the babies so I thought I probably shouldn't :( But anyways thought I would comment here to say hi and let you know that i've been watching for forever and ilysm 🫶 (also a big swiftie girly!) 🤭🕰🪩

I recommend a water sensor. You can put one down there and you will be alerted right away in the future.

GIRL! Do you have any idea how many people are probably now interested in rocks? It is so interesting. The next time I go to the coast, I am going to look for rocks and sea glass. NEVER would have cared before. Those rocks are so cool looking. YES about the rust color rock looking like fall leaves.

TTQ: instead of drilling holes in your rocks to make jewelry, have you thought about using copper wire to wrap them? That would be so pretty.
You can buy water detectors that work the same as smoke detectors. They are great to put in the basement, under sinks, washers, etc. Love you!

Ugh floods are the worst! My brother is staying with us right now because last week his basement apartment flooded with literal sewage water 🤮 I’ve also learned the hard way a few years ago that anything valuable in a basement should be in plastic totes and bins! Hopefully you didn’t lose too much stuff 😢
Honestly, Colleen, I was so happy when you said you were tired and were going to go to bed. We as humans need more sleep than we think we do. It's like your theory, "everything takes five minutes", "I only need four hours of sleep." I always lie to myself , "I'll be fine. I can take a nap. Or have coffee. No, no it's fine." 😂 Sleep heals. Rest heals. I truly believe that. I acknowledge you, in order to hold myself accountable. ❤ Love in CT

Basement floods happen to everyone! It does suck but don't et it drag you down. As someone with OCD, when my basement flooded after a storm and ruined a lot of stuff I had a hard time with the intrusive thoughts of possible mold growth so professional remediation is the way to go for ease of mind.

Here in Maryland it rains a lot and for most families when their basement floods it isn’t a small hiccup and it is really bad! At least we don’t have earthquakes though it’s always cool to think about how different some parts of the United States are!!! Love you and hope your stuff isn’t all ruined ❤❤❤

Oh Colleen, I’m so sorry. We had the same thing happen to us. Only, we were on vacation in Disney when a huge storm hit our area. We got home after 10 days to find that our sump pump had failed and not only had our basement flooded but mold was covering the walls (because it was summer)! I was devastated! It may have been just STUFF, but it was also my kiddos old toys, decorations, pictures and some other sentimental items. It was a costly clean up and I got over it but it still hurt. Hopefully your isn’t that bad. ❤

Just FYI Colleen, big kids produce more laundry than little messy rolling in the mud kids. Yes little kids have accidents, but big kids play sport, go swimming, do art at school, costumes for school ...PLUS they sweat and they're bigger = more physical material to wash. I have 3, and I have never caught up with the laundry. Ever 😂

I hope things aren’t as bad in the basement…maybe start using plastic totes? I know it doesn’t make it any better but I’m sentimental too so …I remember I had the cutest ghosty candle that ended up in the attic and I totally freaked out crying so upset because it melted on one side so yeah…I have your lipsticks if you need them I have have them and would be happy to mail them to you …not my used ones but I have two that are perfect! The rocks were so pretty and the strawberry outfits were just too cute!
Hi Colleen! I just wanted to say, I love how you present your rocks to show them to us. The heart shape, color coordination, etc…Have you ever thought of displaying them in shadow boxes and creating wall art with them? I think they would look so beautiful! ❤
TT: I have ocd which has similar traits to dermatillomania, and its so hard to challange even with therapy. How do you push yourself/motivate to work through it?
Colleen! I doubt you’ll see this but with hopes that you will you’re the first person I’m sharing this with because you got me through this. I got the clear this week that for the first time in 5 years I am officially considered recovered from my ed after being told I was “a lost cause”❤. I couldn’t have made it to this point without you. Your videos got me through every meal (and I mean every meal), inpatient, the days I wanted to quit and all of the inbetweens. To celebrate I made some chocolate chip cookies inspired by you❤ I ate them while watching your vlog so that I wasn’t alone. Even when you feel like you’re not enough, remember that you have fully saved lives, mine being one of them. Thank you for being the only one whos been here for me through this journey. You’ve gotten me through so much, and we’re all here to get you through all of your battles. Thank you again Colleen❤

Tortilla Talk Question: I'm trying to get more into musical theatre and since you're a certified theatre kid, I'd love some recommendations for shows. My favourites right now are Rent, Waitress (obviously), and Newsies. I also love Hairspray and Wicked. My music taste is 2000s pop punk, so rock operas would definitely be the best suggestions, but I'll try anything. ❤️
i am a family of 4, but there are 8 of us in one house. our laundry is running at least once a day, sometimes 10x! i need a second set of washer/dryer lol hate it too!!!!
i do sometimes when it’s out of control just go to the laundromat and wash everything at once. i bring my airpods and it’s so peaceful with no kids!
Our washer flooded out a couple years ago and we started going to the laundromat. We dreaded it at first but it's SO MUCH FASTER! We usually take fast food with us and just have a little date night together and get it all done at once.

About laundry: I grew up in a big family of five kids and two parents. My dad was in charge of laundry and he always did it when mom was cooking dinner. Our salvation was that we had a pretty big laundry room with a laundering machine and a tumbler as well as clotheslines across the entire room so he could hang it up to dry (which saved electricity). We also had wire basket drawers where every drawer had specific kinds of laundry (like whites, colored, underwear, and so on) making sorting very quick and easy. When we kids got older, we were in charge of sorting our own laundry into the correct drawer. I think he tried to fit in two loads a day, maybe three on weekends to catch up.
Flynn giving you flowers reminds me of something my mom always did for my brothers and I (also saw on tiktok the other day too!) - Its a small pot called a “Mommy Pot” its a small vase/pot that holds the little flowers, sticks, grass that your kiddos give you that hold their little discoveries perfectly - since most big vases wouldn’t fit the flowers. Im looking forward to doing it with my kids one day ☺️

I’m surprised to hear you have a basement. With earthquakes I didn’t know that would be possible! I had to install a sump pump in my basement since mine flooded immediately when I moved in - yikes. I had to demo all the perimeter drywall and get it treated for mold. It was a nightmare.

Commiserations on your basement flood. I learned the hard way, they rarely happen just once. Recommend using shelving or pallets to keep storage items up off floors. Btw, I'd use your lipsticks still, i bet. I bought them before and they are excellent (Daisy Mae' is my daily wear💖) and i bet the tubes are watertight. Surely you have insurance, but still the loss can really get to us. Good thing you've got such cute kids & husband to distract you... and rocks... and...
i understand the losing memories thing , my house caught fire in january 2 2022 we lost everything :( all the memories of my mom who passed in october 2021 weeks before my baby was born in november
but what has gotten me though that time while watching my house burn was "things are replaceable but people are not"

TTQ: re. laundry, have you ever dried your clothes outside? Like on a line? It’s the done thing in Europe and I find it so interesting that it is so uncommon in the USA. Clothes smell amazing after drying in the sun!

I went to the beach at the weekend and found myself being able to identity certain rocks 😂 I even brought one home to smash open , from research pretty sure it was a Sunstone? 😅 then I found a glow rock and blue jasper. My friends were confused where all this knowledge came from!

tortilla talk question: how do you and erik manage to stay close now that you have three kids?
Laundry things I do as a fellow mom of 3 ages 2, 4, and 6. I do one load per kid weekly. It makes it easier to put away if I only have that kids clothes in the basket. I only buy socks that are one solid color so I don't have to waste time matching and all my kids can share socks. I don't fold pajamas or underwear at all. I just throw them in the drawer. My kids also re wear pajamas for a few nights so I don't have 7 pajamas to have to wash for them each week. My 2 year old is still a pretty messy eater so we have a t-shirt that we throw on him over whatever he's wearing for the day and he still uses a bib. That way even if he does get something on his shirt it's not his nicer shirt he was wearing that day. Hope this helps!

Family of 5 here and the biggest change I’ve made in my laundry routine is I stopped folding my kids clothes. If they don’t get hung they get thrown in divided drawers and it’s been the best thing ever. My 3 and 5 year old can put their own clothes away and that’s a huge help to me. I also try to run at least one load of laundry everyday.

Hi Colleen, I’m not sure how many washers and dryers you have but, I had a friend who had 5 kids and she had 3 washers and 3 dryers so she could keep up with the laundry. Have you considered getting a second washer and dryer?

I feel ya on the basement flooding... when I was young our basement flooded bad. Mine and my sisters room was downstairs as well as our playroom. Lots of books and toys got ruined when this happened, it was definitely devastating.
Soooo, I only have two kids BUT… I know of a fam that has twins and an elder sibling and they broke down and just bought another set of washer and dryer and no it didn’t fit in their laundry room but because they were putting it in the garage they didn’t care about looks or space saving and bought the huge commercial ones like you find in laundromats. Obviously doesn’t reduce the amount of laundry but it definitely helps the time it takes to process it all.
I can’t believe how smart and articulate Maisie is. It’s truly so impressive!

The rocks with tiny different rocks in them are my favorite. My gosh it must take years and years to get that way. Man, think I may start polishing rocks too. It's pretty darn cool. I live on Lake Superior so we have lots of them. Oh Colleen so sorry about the basement. I've unfortunately been there too. Hope your belongings are okay.

Any stuff you left on the floor might be ruined but if everyone is safe and the materialistic part is not replaceable then I would worry because something that is replaceable is junk if it’s not it’s valuable and it’s up to you to save it can you figure it out?

At my old house our living room use to flood it was an addition from the previous owners. They never disclosed it. We had a big storm and I was woken up to my mom and sister screaming and pouring buckets of water out of the living room. My mom called the fire department because she didn't know who else to call. They brought a huge vacuum and sucked the water out. We had to quick save the computer and TV before they got destroyed. It was a long time before we got that room fixed well enough so it didn't leak and flood. Out whole back yard and patio would flood too because our house sat lower than the neighbors. It should of been disclosed in the house sale.

TTQ: When you used to do quickchanges in live shows from Miranda back to Colleen how did you cover over the Miranda overdraw as fast as you did? I watched every livestreamed show and NEVER saw any reminant of it. It always astounded me as to how its physically possible to cover over red overdrawn lipstick in a 30 second or less quick change. What's the secret?

Investing in a water alarm is a GAME CHANGER if you have a basement that has the potential of flooding. They're cheap little remote looking things that will go off if even a little water touches it. Something to look into for the future. 💜
