After Lovelyz and GFRIEND disbanded this concept got mostly disappeared, now there's ILY:1 and them
Yes, it was basically extinct, until CSR and ILY1 came out of nowhere. I really hope they can succeed, although it'll be a huge uphill battle, because they're from rookie agencies, and nowadays it's extremely rare for rookie agencies to be successful. High Up (Stayc) is the only exception in 4th gen.
Weeekly were there, until their company went bat-shit crazy.

Yes, i feel like this is one of those concepts that people took for granted, because we thought it would always be the norm. Now the only groups doing this type of sound/concept are from super small startups. Anyway, they have my support 😌

I think most people thought of GFriend first, but I heard Lovelyz, April and Apink too. Now that you say it, I do hear fromis_9 and maybe also Oh My Girl? It's totally a familiar sound but I like how they put their own twist on it!

What's incredible is how HQ this debut is from such an unknown company. Like they are starting on the ground floor and already reaching really nice levels in terms of production value on a relatively limited budget.

Yes, sadly, this sound/concept is only done by small startups, these days, so when we do get it from time to time, it doesn't have the highest production values. But I feel like CSR definitely did it justice 💖

This is one of the rare cute concept that I’m totally sold on. It suits them so well.
as much as i love darker concepts in kpop, kpop isn’t kpop without its cute concepts - i’m so glad to see groups beginning to “freshen” their concepts. i love how their group is called “first love” and their concept and song resembles that purity so well ^__^
During the first verses when PD does the head tilt and their expression completely changes…. Honestly same 😂 I was def not expecting to like it like this. A lot of groups have been debuting with girl crush concept, even really young ones (I love girl crush though, not a bad thing), so this romantic comforting music with a “simple” aesthetic feels somehow really refreshing
The girl that look like Nako is Yuna, she's the smallest in the group and her voice is cute like Nako. Maybe that's why she also remind me of Nako

Some of rookie girl groups from unknown companies like ILY 1 and CSR has a quite solid debut this year.
Lets face it this is a cracking song - very well architected with great key and tempo/style changes, topped with a great performance/MV from the CSR girlies. (The performance MV is my fave).
as a long time buddy desperately missing gfriend, i'm so sooo happy with this group. this concept and genre of music is one of my favorites in kpop and i'm so glad they debuted with it!! and as you said, they didn't just do this standard concept, they added something more to it, so it came out as a refreshing combination of classic nostalgic stuff and new exciting stuff. i love it. and i appreciate that all the girls are born in 2005. new groups nowadays have dangerously young members and 2005 in my opinion isn't that bad, though 17 is still pretty young. but at least they're not 14.
As much as I'm not into this particular style of K-pop music, I have to say that it's refreshing to hear a track like this at this point. When was the last time a girl group came out with a track like this? For the last year, at least, we've been given almost just girl crush, sleek dance tracks or dark concepts. I have to rewind my memory pretty far back to come across a similar track. Again, the track isn't my style, but admittedly it stands out among current songs. Hopefully it results in positive attention for CSR, and that the large group of people who are into this kind of sound become fans of CSR.
What girl groups remind you of CSR the most? I'm very curious about the listener's opinions. For me, I hear Gfriend, Lovelyz, April, Apink, fromis_9 and Oh My Girl.

I love how the rapper of the group was holding off till the bridge and then after her part, instantly dips. Kind of like Exy in WJSN on their song I Wish where she got that rap part in the bridge then she dipped lol
This whole album is INCREDIBLE! This has to be the best girl group debut album in a long time. I loooove them!

I didn't even know about CSR till someone mentioned in my discord a new girl group will be on Inkigayo today. I thought oh great another girl group ill need to keep up with. Watched their debut and was just blown away. I didn't know what to expect so I went in blind and boy once they finished their stage I was a huge fan right then and there. They have charms and you can tell they are having a blast. The album is solid and its a cute concept you don't really see now a days. Full steam ahead CSR!!

Finally PD reacting to this hidden gem. They are now slowly gaining attentions and decent album sales for a rookie group.
That debut album, *Sequence : 7272* is very very good, a no-skip. One of the track, Euratcha!, was produced by Sweetune.

FYI, before debuting as CSR in Popmusic (the same label now housing Ailee), they were trainees at J-Planet, the same agency as LUNARSOLAR.
JPLANET entertainment was their previous label, which had LunarSolar as their first kpop group (debuted in Sept 2020), and csr previously known as 05class when they were training under jplanet... JPLANET went bankrupt and disbanded LunarSolar in May this year and handed csr into pop music's hands.... They did so wrong with LunarSolar as they were said to record a cb song in March but were disbanded in May as I said. LunarSolar also was said to make a Japanese debut but it sadly never happened....

I was very glad that csr debuted with a sound like this! We haven't had a release like this in so long,, it was exactly what I needed. I cannot wait to see what they'll put out in the future!!
Can't wait for someone to cover the bass or the drum parts of this song. As you mentioned, it belongs to the tried-and-true genre, but there are "fresh" bits here and there for me. For me this is definitely one of the best debut songs in recent K-Pop.

I was so happy to see this kind of concept picked back up in a debut again. It totally reminded me of Lovelyz in all the good ways. It's just so fresh and encouraging in its sound - and the b-sides are the same! Really looking forward to what they do in the future :))
For me, it’s Lovelyz meets April meets 1/3 LOONA’s Love&Live. Agreed! It’s such an easy song to enjoy and relate to so many other great concepts and groups we have seen…but with a fresh twist. :)
CSR is one of the best debuts this year 😭. Bringing back those kpop vibes! Also Ily:1 had just a recent comeback as well. hopefully you could react to them :)
Their chorus sounds so much like a J-Pop song, it has that exact bright and youthful synth sound that so many J-Pop groups have to this day, it's like they came out from an idol anime. It's not my cup of tea, but I don't dislike it, I just prefer other types of sound from J-Pop or Japanese music in general, but honestly that familiarity isn't a bad thing and I think they were really smart for having the chorus be like that because it makes the rest of the song even more interesting to listen to in contrast, and the chorus ends up standing out even more because the other sections are done so differently both within the song itself and the rest of the current trends in the industry. If they play their cards right they could end up being really popular in Japan, even if the market is a bit oversaturated there right now.

To me this sound has been sorely lacking from the 4th generation so far, so this debut is a breath of fresh air. The song is so well done and gave me instant lovelyz vibes, which makes sense since Yoon Sang (the person who had a major influence on Lovelyz sound) is behind CSR. I hope they're successful and stick around for a while!

Coming to this video after their latest release, somehow entirely missed their debut in July but I was blessed by loveticon randomly appearing in my spotify release radar and only a day later I absolutely love all of their tracks. It's something I would have never listened to a few years ago but now it gives me so much joy and happiness
the dance is actually pretty impressive if you watch their practice video. you don't see much of it in the MV!

I LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH! It's fun, a little erratic at times, and combines new and retro k pop elements. The rhythm or whatever you call it is addicting. The chorus fills me with joy. I did not expect this song to sound this good.

for me, this debut reminded me so much of nature's allegro cantabile which i absolutely love and i cannot wait to see how far csr comes!

If you want to see more of them, they have a small reality show on 1thek called First Judgement. In one episode they sing into to the new world (snsd) while running on treadmills and sound completely stable.
It's not ITNW but rather Himnae (Way To Go). I felt like crying when they did that as no one seems to be covering or singing to that classic SNSD song again. If ever, they did justice to it, even while performing a challenge, and that kind of music suits them best. That, together with the cover of Rough and Me Gustas Tu makes me think that whoever the producer behind those knows exactly the target market for these wonderful girls.
This is my cup of tea. Just Yes.

their entire debut album is SO GOOD personally like 72.72Hz and Toi Et Moi the most out of all the bsides. but i’ve been listening to pop pop NONSTOP since it released. it’s definitely song of the year for me and one of the best kpop debuts of all time. ALSO the girl you said reminds you of nako is the only japanese member 🤣 her name is yuna
