      Morning Mark,
      Separating walking from hiking, I think the Langstrath was probably my favourite leg of the walk. Having said that, Ulverston to Coniston was pretty special too.
      So much to choose from 😆

    Great video, lovely story about the picture and it's significance, in fact these vlogs have really brought out your story telling. I was once up there with a group of kids and one of them asked what was so special about his tickle. The wee lass thought it was 'Harrison's Tickle'. Glad you made it to Catbells and look forward to part 5.

    Another cracking video Darren you have been doing so well to keep going in that heat all day that was a long slog. Great Anniversary story it was obvious how much it meant to you, get Helen to give those shoulders a good rub down😀.. I'm not surprised that you couldn't walk past the pub, I wouldn't have left it😂, it's going to leave a big hole when this series is over it's been a joy watching mate.

    How the hell you carried on with beer is beyond me! How very coincidental with you being on Langstrath. Agree it’s very nice. Loved the adventure and numerous phrases along the way. Pike o Stickle has a surprising little scramble from memory. Nice one Daz👍👍

    yet another great episode; I was getting very worried about the shoulder pain and nearly called an ambulance for you 🤣🤣

  • @iainmc9859
    @iainmc9859 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Man, I wouldn't have wanted to be you when Helen heard the 'childbirth' comments !
    The shoulders may have been giving you jip not just because of the time/distance you were out but because the bag was packed low. Its best to keep the weight as close to the spine as possible and packed high distributing the weight through the hips, which stops the shoulder straps pulling so much.
    It still looks like a great adventure, or a glorified pub crawl😉

    • @DarrenKnightPhoto
      @DarrenKnightPhoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Iain,
      I think the pack was packed correctly with the heavier components at the bottom and against my spine but who knows?
      They were very long days and so it could just have been fatigue as well as pain.
      Anyway, as much as I enjoyed it, I now know my limitations when it comes to weight and distance per day.
      Take care bud 🍺🍺

    " A Drop of wind".. that's a new one, lol. Ah, lovely to see emotion in a person - as you were telling us about the image and Helen that old voice breaking up a little. I have to tell you I would be very much the same... recently my oldest lad got married & due to the restrictions we were just 20 close family - so Dad here was asked to be best man.. his 1st words to me when he asked was Dad will you be able to hold it together..lol, thats how bad I am. At 17:00 you mention getting to Cat Bells and it threw me.. I don't know the lakes at all so I start up OS mapping to give me an idea of the route you were doing - so I searched Stickle Tarn in and had a quick look then you said your destination and I am thinking that didn't look anywhere near on the map - only to check that there are a couple of Stickle Tarns.. the one I was looking at was in the Dunnerdale Fells? Watched JRB's latest last evening and until then I had not heard of the Langstrath Valley and here we are for the 2nd day running.. what a fabulous looking valley and if I ever get to trhe Lakes I will be looking for it. It's funny you say about the shoulder thing - it's been a thing with me for a few years and I don't know if its carrying too much weight, loading my pack wrong or just badly fitting ruccy but it's something I am acutely aware of these days.... then you come of with the smacked off your t*ts thing, I nearly spat my morning tea over my desk...lol. I would have been sleeping after the 3rd beer..lol. Bravo Daz.. that was a hard n hot one.. not helped by those beers I reckon..lol atb Al

    Great vid Darren. I normally hike alone and like to think you do it right. Stop when you need to. (Have a look, take a pic or have a swim). When hiking with others I find they are more bout getting to the other end rather than enjoying the journey. Epic fays walking. Look forward to the next chapter.

    • @DarrenKnightPhoto
      @DarrenKnightPhoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Morning Mark,
      Apart from the heat, which made it very uncomfortable at times, this trip was great because I had so much time to stop and enjoy the landscape.
      Thats why I’ve started to wild camp more, because it gives you that luxury of time.
      Enjoy your hikes bud and stay well 🍺

    Congratulations on your anniversary. With your rucksack has it got torso adjustment? If it's to long or short between the waist and shoulder it will cause discomfort. If it hasn't then you need the correct size for your torso length. Hopefully you get it sorted

      @DarrenKnightPhoto  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Garry,
      Cheers mate 👍
      It does and I had it fitted and so I’m sure it’s the correct size. I just think it was too heavy for me over long distances.
      I now know my weight limitations and so the next trip should be easier

    OK, I have to ask after watching a few videos... There's a shot in your intro of some kind of foam hitting your face in the breeze (followed by a look of disgust on your face). That didn't have anything to do with a camel, did it? Just curious. 😀
