For decades, Andy Rooney held court on 60 Minutes, dispensing his wit and wisdom from his desk-turned-soapbox. A remembrance by Morley Safer.

"Have you ever noticed....." will Always be associated with Andy Rooney now.
Anyone who's ever parodied him, on tv or in a cartoon, has him start with those words.
Thanks for the memories and grumpy observations, Andy.

I always recall my family tuning in to watch Andy do his bit on 60 Minutes. Growing up, The Amazing Race always followed 60 Minutes, and we would always tune in about 10 minutes early to be sure we saw his bit. It was a sad day when he left. Thus goes another fond memory from my youth.

This curmudgeon was a pleasurable bugger to watch. It is not so much that I agreed with him or liked everything he had to say. He gave me the peace that I could say and believe all the things in my heart whether they made people happy, glad, or sad. I pass my condolences on to those who knew him personally and will feel his loss much more so than I will. May he rest in peace.

I miss him a lot. My buddies in the Navy kid me about being cranky like he was. After that episode about a box of something he couldn't open, I went to friends at Bell Laboratories and the Office of Naval Research to have them make up something to drive him crazy. He was well beloved by both those groups, so, "Oh, Anything we can do to help."

For a Rooney placebo, check out Jim Gaffigan. Hope it helps.

Andy said it like he meant it, good, bad or indifferent, he could have your attention talking about ingredients of a box of cheerios, little kid when 60 min was on, I waited for end of show to watch, RIP

I FELT TERRIBLE AND I HAD LEARNED A LOT.
THAT WAS WHAT ANDY SAID WHEN HE RETURNED TO 60 MINUTES WHEN THE RATINGS WERE IN FREEFALL.
I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT ANDY ROONEY HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED TO “ THE LAST MINUTE OF 60 MINUTES “, BUT IT’S MUCH BETTER THAN A CURMUDGEON NAMED ROONEY.

Andy and his sardonic, sensible 60 Minutes sign offs are sorely missed.
And Morley Safer was my favorite 60 Minutes segment person.
For me he just slightly edged out Mike Wallace.

What's with digital watches? I don't get it.
Here's one that tells you the time in New York, London, and Tokyo!
Here's one that has three different alarms.
Here's one that tells you the day of the week. Friends, if you don't know what day it is, you don't need to know what time it is!

At 6:30: "A person that wants to be loved greatly, greatly loves people, or he wouldn't care what people thought of 'im".
More wrong words were never spoken. I think he knew that at the time.
I wonder if he would have written those words, however facetiously, if he had known Trump?

I liked his work but man what an elitist...can't you sign an autograph or answer a few letters from the public? Oh right, we are beneath you.

He thought it ridiculous that people should flock after him like a movie star. He was just a guy paid to say his opinions. Not an elitist.
