You should use ScotiaBank if you want access to your bank account while you are in the USA. Citibank has expressed interest in setting up operations in Guyana. My guess is that they will buy ScotiaBank. At that time Citibank will be the best bank for you.

I understand from a close friend that it’s absolutely impossible. He has been dealing with “idiots” at Republic Bank. Each time he goes there, they ask for additional information. Since he lives abroad he has had to make several trips there. He is building an apartment complex and have mostly done so using his own cash. Now that he wanted the loan to finish the building they are not helpful, courteous or sensible about US banking regs. I don’t want to have the same experience. Please advise.

Are payments made by checks the norm and how much for a returned check? In addition, a vlog on obtaining credit, What is it based on? Who do they use for reports. In the US, it's Equifax, Transunion and Experian for your credit report. Do they use a rating system? How long it takes from application, limits or minimum extended, etc? Google pays in USD. The local bank converts USD into local currency. No need to create a Guyana TH-cam account unless you want to build another channel because the pay is the same. You can transfer your money from the US bank to the Guyana bank. The outcome is the same.

Guyana is comparatively cheap as far as cost of living, comparable to Thailand or Vietnam and if you are a digital nomad this is important. It is connected to the internet but connection speeds are slow about 10-20 Mbps. There are good schools both private and public schools in the city for children but the education system is British styled. The language of instruction is English but there are language instruction classes for kids and adults in many other languages. Sports and games are limited to commonwealth sports, not much baseball or American football but there is tennis and squash and swimming. There is an American expatriate community that is growing as the oil economy is getting started and ExxonMobil is bringing many Americans to Guyana.
That’s true, banks are not places to save money nowadays because they are there to make money hence all the fees, and that is the reason why the biggest most expensive buildings are owned by the banks. Also because we are not allowed to keep US dollars in our bank accounts most people keep USD and foreign currency at home.

It may be easier for US foreigners because there are fewer requirements.

Yes you can. Interest rate Was 1% on substantial savings accounts over $500k. But I will check to see if it has changed.

I don’t know if anything changed. But I linked my PayPal to my RB Visa card and it works although I have not used it recently.
