- U.S. Marines and Sailors with 3rd Marine Littoral Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, and Philippine Marines with Marine Battalion Landing Team 10 deploy to Itbayat, Philippines
These Marines will participate in a major maritime theater security operations event during Exercise Balikatan 24 in Itbayat, Philippines
This training event consisted of civil reconnaissance patrols, volunteering within the local community, conducting a medical evacuation drill, and a community dinner.
The deployment to the region during Balikatan was under “a scenario designed to preserve and protect Philippine territorial integrity
Despite being smaller in size compared to last year’s exercise by about 1,000 troops, this year’s iteration has drastically increased the scope and focus of the exercise to cover the Philippines’ outermost territories

I served 21 years in the Marines as an infantry officer with 3 years in combat. My first combat experience was as an infantry platoon commander in Vietnam from Dec 1968 to Dec 1969. My other two years were in Latin America supporting counter-insurgency operations with the host nation.
I'm 78 now so I don't know what the Marines are like now. But in my day we trained hard, fought hard, and played hard. It was a pretty wild 21 year ride. I'd do it all again if I could.
Semper Fi to all Marines past, present, and future.

The most deadly weapon in war are not to be the missile, fighter jets, tanks or etc. It's the ground troops, and it's very important to win a war. More experience and trainings is deadly.
Although, I agreed with you, but deadly weapon in war are the civilians/locals. If you don't have civilians on your side, you might as well pack up and leave; cause you are in for a long haul of guirrella welfare. Good example are Filipinos against Spaniards colonizism period, American-Phillipine War, WW2 againts the Japanese. Good example of this is a Filipino female teacher by the name of Nieves Fernandez. Japanese soldier have feared her so much because her goto weapon is the bolo.
Oh no. Hope they dont bring bad influence to the people of batanes. Batanes people are the warmest, most honey people ive met. No wonder there is virtually 0 crime rate there. And of course batanes is so gorgeous and romantic place to visit and everything is so clean
does people from batanes got brains right? they sure will adapt
This looked more like a civic action deployment to develop community trust and relationships than a training exercise. Civic actions are important and when I was in the Marines on deployment aboard amphibious ships, we often docked on different islands to do voluntary work like painting schools, providing medical and dental services, and doing good will events with the people. It's important, but those civic action events weren't meant to be training exercises.
We need a permanent deep water port and airbase there with hundreds of missile defense systems
this island is 100 miles from taiwan
May magpapassport bro na naman pag singkenta anyos na.
Chinese so upset they dont have so many allies that can actually fight 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
China will not win, they had learned that during war in peninsula, Philippine army desttoy them in ground battle
you are luckier if you have an american in your unit
