I’m gonna suggest that you react to Gaga’s The Sound of Music” Tribute at the 2015 Oscars... it was during the Cheek to Cheek era although not directly related to the album. It was definitely a pivotal moment in my opinion. It made a lot of headlines also calling it one of her best performances ... However, if you want to just keep it specific to this album, any performance of “Cheek to Cheek” works lol
This era really made her happy, after what she had gone through during Artpop with her management leaving her and everyone calling her a flop, even some of her ‘fans’, it gave her a moment to breath 🖤
That's why I love C2C and am more than grateful that Gaga didn't quit music, thanks to Mr. Tony Bennett. ❤️ There's no doubt that ARTPOP was way ahead of its time and underrated, as well as very underestimated. It deserved a lot better. 2015 and early 2016, the following years after C2C were the years of tributes (Stevie Wonder, Carole King, David Bowie, Julie Andrews, ect.). "Cheek To Cheek", all the tributes and "Till It Happens To You" for "The Hunting Ground" are expansions of ARTPOP, in my perspective, because she became the true artist she was always meant to be. Many "fans" and casual listeners thought she was over. But for me, everything she does between ARTPOP and Joanne was the highest peak of her artistry. She came back to slay the pop music-industry with Chromatica and it's one of a kind, like every of her albums. But 2013-2016 were the years when she inspired me the most. ❤️

FOr me, this album rocketed her to a stratospheric level of quality above all the obvious Madonna, Britney, Katy Perry, etc comparisons. None of those women could EVER begin to tackle this genre.

Wait wait wait wait wait...maybe it's because I grew up in this era (when Tony was"the one"...which is what Sinatra called him), but we DID used to turn it up and 'groove'. We DID listen and boogie and snap and dance to it...those of us who weren't just stuck on rock n roll. But we did that to jazz in general. It wasn't just background or "elevator music". I had my fake martini in my hand while I danced (I was a kid, so fake).
I think you're the only one who has done this era of hers, or at least one of the very few, I really love that and I'm happy you did it! And I hope this video gets tons of views because of it.
I have watched The Monster Ball so many times...If I've had a bad day, that's the best way for me to break out of it. It just takes me away to a better place. So hopefully you can't wear out a DVD! And now Chromatica happily has the same effect on me. In my book, Gaga is Queen!!!

Also, someone else suggested her “sound of music” performance during this era, which I also highly recommend! That was definitely a career changing performance. This album just brought her back to her love for singing the classics. Jazz isn’t really my thing either, but she provided some amazing vocals on this album. It made older folks take her more seriously seeing her belt out jazz tunes with tony Bennett so well.

Sorry...If you've ever been to a jazz bar you may notice that the audience in most of those places says nothing. There IS no conversation. The music is everything. It's like going to a poetry reading, or standup comedy house.These people are sophisticated, not just in dress, but they are cold serious about taking in the music. Gaga's jazz album influenced "Chromatica", in part. And I love that. ("Replay", "1000 Doves")

JazzGa is so worth it in live performances. But also, people associate Gaga toady with great vocals BECAUSE of this album. After ARTPOP, her image had become a joke to the public. With this, she started earning respect, and a whole new crowd. Praise from everywhere, and people started taking her seriously as an all-round artist that can do any genre. So yeah, listening session of what shaped her into the new "respected" Gaga we know today
If we are “exploring Gaga’s artistry through her music” then yeah, it’s valuable to think about this album- why and how she did it, what’s unique about it and what she took from it with her on her journey... :). I love that we hear her in a very relaxed space, playing with phrasing and serifs. :)
Again, I guess it isn't fair to you, because I knew this era. But "Lush Life" is/was perfection. It is considered top of the tops from that era. Classic. Superior. Like "Stairway To Heaven" is in that genre (which right now I cannot even think about getting into compared to this, or jazz in general. Sorry, but jazz is where the big boys hang. It's untouchable. Don't even go there. When I am 'jazz lost' nothing else fulfills.
