She loves shopping? That just means charter the cat experience in the Mediterranean and sail around the coast of Italy, Greece, Turkey, France and Spain. Lot's of shopping to be enjoyed there. She will be hooked and probably only then wil she be motivated to sail and learn to swim. ❤

Your guess is right. But when we travelled in Europe on two occasions,she was too busy with our sight seeing trips, except when we stayed in California for 3 months and she flaunted the outlets in San Jose. UK is another place with lots to see on your van tour ( not in organized trips). I was surprised to see some wonderful places when we stayed there with our son and daughter in law. Example the Shakespeare house, Oxford University campus and its river cruise in the long boat. There are still people who stay on the river boat houses in UK which is unique. Are you guy planning to go there?
We lived in the UK for sometime and have a lot of family there so visit often but as for plans to go there the original plan was to drive from Malaysia to the UK with our Diy campervan however with the pandemic still in swing we're focussing on sailing now. If and when we are skilled and full-time sailors, the world will be our destination by sea. 🌊⛵ Driving destinations is Laos.

In fact when I was in San Francisco two years ago visiting my son, I did see one up for sale for about USD 200k. But honestly I have a constraint - cos my wife is a homely type, not the outdoor kind. Whereas I am the opposite.
It is tricky when two souls have different interest and sailing in Malaysian heat can be challenge if one is not used to it or loves the sea. Baby steps perhaps a charter on a comfortable cat with a captain around the islands of Langkawi is a good first experience for your wife.
