@@chrisoghenetegamaloney5799 Abi o, it's just so annoying with the proudly Igbo nonsense, other tribes do theirs' for the collective without asking for a part on the back, but this proudly Igbo nonsense has to be everywhere with any Igbo contribution.
Excellent! Let them keep coming. Thank God for the electronic digital world. I could listen all day! Let the world be exposed to this talent. God bless those voices.
the audience was enjoying it so much they joined in clapping,..this was authentic and spontaneous joie de vi·vre, and is okay, but in my picky opinion, it unintendedly robbed the performance of a measure of needed grace, fluency and elegance. It would be nice if there was a way of encouraging the audience in 9ja and abroad to wait till the end to exhibit their much welcome and highly appreciated satisfaction.
O Paul, I'd say that the clapping & physical expression of joy is what sets a performance of Nigerian music apart from a lot of western classical music. It shouldn't be suppressed. It demonstrates the sort of relationship we in Africa have with music which is distinct from the western tradition of sitting quietly till the end & should be promoted, rather than discouraged. For it is quite a beautiful thing. We hear good music, it moves us, we dance. It's quite logical when you think about it. Sitting in silence when you hear good music of any kind is a bit... unnatural. it is a learned mode of behaviour (which is why no children are born that way).
I absolutely agree, the clapping part almost ruined it for me, it went on too long and I felt the conductor pretty much dragged the audience participation. Still a good performance though.
Henry Tudor unfortunately there’s no competition with anyone, the post is not intended to determine if they’re the best Nigerian choir or not. Why do you people like to raise unnecessary dusts?
Awesome. Unfortunately we lost a legend Onyeka Onwenu today 31st July 2024. May she continue to sing with the angels in heaven.
