Growing up with the SNES in the 90s, I sure thought I would see a lot more 1-on-1 fights in the street when I traveled around the world as an adult.

GOD I wish I could relate. As someone who involved myself in the world of martial arts I can't tell you HOW many times I've entered a tournament PURELY to grow as a human being by testing how hard I can push against my limits, and ended up involved in some rich Machiavellian "might makes right"-asshole's scheme. Like, yeah commander Drak, luring all the worlds foremost experts on kicking ass to the same place sure is gonna work out for you THIS time! Wanted that monk lady to exorcise you for the SIXTH time? Give that french legionnaire a chance to avenge his husband's death a second time? At this rate even I've killed you, and I don't even know why you're doing this shit! I'm just here for the gains, bro!
Sorry, didn't mean to dump. It's just hard out here, when you're doing this to escape the ratrace and just be a chill kick-hobo and the ratrace keeps trying to pull you back in. It's hard and no one understands.

Great game I only knew about because of emulation , but the moment the anime intro with huge graphics began I was sold out ,because I never seen that before (except for later titles like Street fighter alpha 2 and that's adaptation for room capcom this was from an unknown company). But turns out the game was really cool too I missed quite a bunch of the features you mentioned because I couldn't understand Japanese but at least I got around the menus to upgrade my character a bit in fights. The artwork included in the manual was really neat too, I've seen some scans online. The character designs are great too

This fighting game is more interesting than any new ones we got recently, more to do in single player in this one. Granted the new games now have online mode to compete with other players but that could always be intimidated when you haven't figure out the basics, especially we still rarely had a good tutorial mode to teach newcomers in this day in age. Missed when developers were making ambition with experimenting on modes like Tobal No.1's Quest Mode.

Honestly this looks more like a streamlined version of the PC Engine game, right down to reusing the character sprites, and then using Advance mode to compensate for the lack of that whole voice-acted story scenario the original had. Though in some ways it's more advanced than Flash Hiders was in terms of details and background animation.
