You inspired me to build my bike top to bottom. I didn't go all out with powdercoats but you are the reason I was able to do this build. I'm not a mechanic by trade but refuse to pay people for things I know I can do. This series gave me the know how and confidence to do it.
Thank you ... I'm not a mechanic by trade either, I'm actually a web developer and I write code for a living ... that's all it takes is the belief that you can do it (and some good ole fashioned common sense)
@11GalleryATV Love how thorough you were. Was great help and you built a very pretty machine. I have family out in Gilbert and next time I'm out and we take the can ams out would love to see them in person if you're out in the desert.

This whole series is awesome. I have some mechanic skills but this video is totally helpful. Love the tip of how the piston or crank is at top dead center. Great work. Wish you lived closer to NY. Lol
Stage one hot cam what is recommended valve gap when setting intake and exhaust? You videos on the 400 have been perfect for a first timer! Thanks 👍 and subscription from me.
Thanks! Hotcams stage 1 specs are intake - .13mm and exhaust - .15mm. The stock Honda specs are intake - .10mm and exhaust - .12mm. Make sure it's at top dead center on the compression stroke ...
It's not painted at all. It was Vapor Blasted to clean and seal the pores in the bare aluminum to prevent corrosion. It is now like back to factory finish ...
@@edwinbribiesca2039 Stock piston and cylinder bore - 85mm - I put up the video on the piston and rings details here - th-cam.com/video/5qekTas3vBg/w-d-xo.html - thanks to you for asking about the ring gaps ... you can skip to five forty to see the piston rings and cylinder details
The ring gap SIZES are WAY MORE important than gap position in a 4 stroke since the rings are not "pinned" like they are in a 2 stroke. If they are too close together, you could experience "blow by" which causes loss of compression, which causes loss of power. If they line up, it could blow your breather tube or seals. Chances are though nothing will happen if they are off a bit or shift some during installation. The orientation of the rings is also VERY important (which side goes up).

This has to be the most complete and detailed 400ex build on TH-cam. Thank You!

I've been watching this playlist for a weekà helped me a bit on some stuff that i forgot! Thanks bud 🍻🍻🍻
Thank you! Glad I could help!
Still watching this build, while starring at my 02 400 ex, just ordering and waiting on parts.
Yeah ... I had to wait on parts a few times too ... sucks!
Wow that chart you made for the valve cover bolts 💯🤞👍 so clutch, I really appreciate you fam.

Love the build man.
What paint did you use on the cases? How is it holding up to heat bc I love the color scheme
It's not painted at all. It was Vapor Blasted to clean and seal the pores in the bare aluminum to prevent corrosion. It is now like back to factory finish ...
Oh wait, do you mean the case covers? The black is powder coat and the finish is holding up flawlessly!
Could I buy a built motor from you ?
Did you have to check the ring end gap on the new wiseco ? Before you installed it to the cylinder?
I did! ... holy crap, thanks for asking! ... I totally forgot to download that footage and edit it into a video! I better get to work, huh?

@@edwinbribiesca2039 By the way ... I did not have to do anything to the Wiseco rings, the gaps all measured within the spec in my cylinder ...
@@11GalleryATV are you going with a standard piston for your build or are you going with a big bore ?

hey i have no idea if mine is a stock cam and didn't check if it the plunger was there . my cam doesn't have this part 14105-KCY-670
am i good?
Well, I don’t know if you don’t know … you need the plunger if you have a stock cam or a camshaft with the decompression unit on it …
How does the niche cylinder handle?
Running great so far!
