    My Review:
As a Scottish person, this is an all round decent look at Scottish History. Some mistakes with a few flags, could have been clearer on the Act of Crowns and the act of union as well as glaring over the 2014 referendum but apart from those points, this is pretty decent. One of the best videos I've seen on Scottish history not made by Scots especially on TH-cam.
P.s. Edinburgh is pronounced as Edin-burah like bra, not Edin-burow like the the borough of the Bronx. I used to have to teach it to tourists at my old job so it's not a biggie.

      Thomas Edgerley
Humans existed as a species for 250,000 years.
Spent that whole time as apes screaming mad.
First cultures arrive about 10,000 years at the most reaching.
      Sticks and stones.
England exists for a few hundred years and now everyone is up to date.
They arrived and upheld their treaties with he Indians... until Puritan Christians reach the land in mass exodus and literally every treaty was soiled after that hand over.
Also carried diseases unknown to the world and made because of the cultural development and human life population allowing diseases on the tier of plagues to develop which would’ve happened anyway.
Introduced live stock and work animals to the west, Africa where none were before of such size and quantity, look at how use the zebra and buffalo domestication is going compared to dogs, cows and so on
A few hundred years too early for vaccines to be invented (can somewhat blame Christians for that with the burning of the Alexandria Library and the hoarding of knowledge which to this day exists in 52 miles of shelf space- of which is off access by even professionals)
Also a somewhat fair deal and trade with colonies after the 1950’s which tagged with shitty understanding of resources resulted in a famine which swayed them to “fuck England rule”
Also the war with America was the dupe the French to spend all their money supporting America which secured England as a global power until WW1 which is when it started to decline.
Even slaves of Romans benefited by being conquered compared to what they lived in before.
And thanks to capitalism you no longer need to store food, your store of food, supplies and so on can be kept in your pocket wherever you go.
Look and Venezuela to see when the blood of a nation’s currency is infested by parasites.
‘The oil price drop did it’ they say, none of the other even more oil dependent nations were so affected, however the workers lowered and dropped as the price rises- they didn’t believe the price would ever stop rising or prepare for it.
It now allows you to make trade with a paper card from one end of the world to the other and you to support people there.

Fun fact: When Robert the Bruce died he wanted to go to heaven so the story goes the he took about 100 of his knights and they put his heart in a box (after he was dead) and took it to the holy land but before they could get there they got attacked by an army on the way and his favourite knight, (of clan Douglas) took his heart out of the box and threw it into the air and the heart grew wings and flew to heaven. So Clan Douglas’ symbol is a heart with wings.

Hate to shoot you down mate, but Robert the Bruce's heart is buried at Melrose Abbey with the inscription, "A noble hart may have no ease, gif freedom failye" on the gravestone. It is true that James Douglas was taking the heart on a tour of the holy land, and it is true that they never made it there, but there are no records of flying hearts, either his or any other. There is a legend that, before Douglas was killed in a surprise attack during this voyage, he threw the urn with the heart ahead of him and cried "Lead on, brave heart, I'll follow thee," but regardless of whether or not this is accurately, the heart was brought back to Scotland with Douglas' body. Both of which they buried near Melrose. Many years later (I think 700, but don't quote me on that), the urn was exhumed and interred within Melrose Abbey, as Robert the Bruce had originally desired.

@Afra The Cat Girl First of all he never "wasted" his time on this video, that time was everything but wasted.
I am not mocking his accent, I'm making fun of it, I am laughing. His accent was not sarcastic, it was exaggerated, and he included himself doing that accent because he thought it would make people laugh, guess what, it worked. My comment is not complaining, it is stating a funny fact, Blue tried (or didn't I don't know) and it didn't work. He made an entire video about Scotland, he must have know that his accent doesn't sound Scottish, and as he's well aware of that he must have consciously included himself attempting to recreate it badly to make people laugh.
Seriously, do you even know how complaining looks like? Because this ain't it.
Okay next, this is not his channel, this channel is two people, Red and Blue.
And lastly, stop being so overly sensitive, not everything is a hate comment. Don't waste *your* time by trying to scold people for making light hearted jokes you misinterpreted.

OH GOD THERE IS SO MUCH IS WRONG HERE. I'M SO DISAPPOINTED, BLUE.
    1) The Scots language has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Norman French; it is a very close cousin of English (a lot of Scots words are actually from Old English, like "ken"), and it is today so varied and poorly defined that its linguistic status is pernanently being debated by politicians who don't know what they are talking about.
    2) Robert the Bruce was an Anglo-Norman lord, and professional opportunist who actually fought with the English at various points. But he's a hero in all the textbooks, so I don't blame you for that one.
    3) They call themselves clans today, but in the Middle Ages, lowland "clans" were just the surnames of English-style feudal lords. This was retrofitted later (see point 6). Central authority was always stronger in the lowlands than highlands, except for the "Reiver" controlled area around both sides of the English border in the 1500s and 1600s (sort of a cross between warlords and bandits).
    4) The Act of Union removed sovereignty, currency and parliament, but kept the separate legal system, church, educational system and most of the structures of government, which remain to this day (see point 11). The Act also wouldn't have happened if Scotland didn't invest literally 20% of its economy into trying to set up a failed colony in the Panamanian jungle. Think of how well Jamestown, VA went and multiply it by a million (England and Spain's fear of competition didn't help to be fair).
    5) Frustration with the Act of Union did have something to do with the rebellions in 1715 and 1745, but not much. They were mainly fought because religion - the Catholic highlands fought to get back the Catholic king that William of Orange had been invited to replace in the 1680s - James VII, hence the semi-Latin term "Jacobite". The Lowland Scots were firmly against them because they were Protestants and scared. Hence why the lowlanders spearheaded the atrocities and cultural genocide after the 1745 rebellion. Oh, yeah, nothing turned for the better in the Highlands... JUST WAIT UNTIL THE CLEARANCES HAPPEN.
    6) People like Walter Scott and Robert Burns essentially made up a new Scottish identity because a) there was no unifying identity at that point between highlands and lowlands and b) the highland identity and organisational structure had been systematically destroyed by the lowlanders and the English. Clan tartans, for instance, were completely made up. It's basically cultural appropriation from the highlands to the lowlands.
    7) People like Adam Smith and David Hume didn't give two shits about Scottish sovereignty because they directly profited so much off the British Empire, including slavery in the 13 colonies. They gave a shit about Scottish institutions, like the law, while remaining in the UK.
    9) A Cornishman invented the steam engine, a Scot made it more efficient and another Cornishman and a guy from Newcastle put it on rails. Scotland can't lay claim to the steam locomotive any more than America can to the computer. They did build a lot of them though.
    10) Scotland never built large numbers of wooden naval ships because it had very few hardwood trees; it did build a significant proportion of the later steel ones.
    11) The modern Scottish Parliament was the brainchild of a guy called Donald Dewar, who was a diehard unionist from the UK-wide Labour Party, but again placed a great value on maintaining Scottish institutions within the union. The other reason is that they thought it would placate the actual Scottish nationalists. Which worked SO well in the long run, because a combination of Labour incompetence, 13 years of comparative nationalist competence, right wing nut jobs in London, and the problems around Brexit (to name a few) have meant that there is for the FIRST time in hundreds of years, ALMOST a majority in favour of independence. That has never been true until pretty much right now.
There are SO MANY glaring mistakes, omissions and harmful myths in this video that I had to give it a dislike. I felt really bad doing it though.

@macsikar Mackay you missed my point. I'm not taking any glory away from the victory. I'm just saying winning on an open field against superior numbers is a greater feat and would look better on film. Also, I wouldn't say rushing an army while it's on a bridge (therefore unable to surround and envelope your own army) requires any real "military strategy". Seems more like common sense to me 😂

It's probably of dubious authenticity but there is a popular story about the filming of Braveheart in Scotland (*fun fact, most of Braveheart was actually shot in Ireland but not the part in the below story.)
Apparently while filming a scene a few locals came over to the set to see what all the commotion was about. One old man approached Mel Gibson without knowing who he was. The conversation went something like this.
OLD MAN: Hey sonny, what's happening over there?
      MEL: We're making a movie.
OLD MAN: Oh aye. What's it about?
MEL: It's a film about William Wallace. We're filming a battle scene.
OLD MAN: Ah right. So which battle is this then?
MEL: It's the Battle of Stirling Bridge.
      OLD MAN: Aye. Okay...
      [long pause]
      OLD MAN: Where's the bridge?
MEL: Well I really wanted a big straightforward battle with a lot of free movement of soldiers and horses. I found the bridge really got in the way and made that really difficult.
OLD MAN: Oh. Fair enough... [pause] ...the English found that too.
