Governor has asked these two MLAs to go and take oath in Raj Bhawan. This two TMC new MLA has written letter to Governor mentioning that since they are member of Assembly, they want to take oath in assembly through Speaker. Governor after receiving their letter has now given direction to this two MLA to take oath in Raj Bhawan today.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been appointed the Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in the 18th Lok Sabha, announced the party, Congress announced on Tuesday after the meeting of floor leaders of the INDIA bloc. "Congress Parliamentary Party chairperson (Sonia Gandhi) wrote to Pro-tem Speaker Bhartruhari Mahtab, informing him of the decision to appoint Rahul Gandhi as the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha," senior party leader KC Venugopal said after the meeting. Earlier, the Congress Working Committee had unanimously voted to recommend Gandhi to lead the opposition in the Lok Sabha, soon after the election results. Gandhi, however, at that time had said he will decide on it later.

The contentious speaker polls are to take place today at 11am with a contest between the NDA and Opposition. While NDA has decided to repeat ok Birla as the speaker, the INDIA front snubbed over the deputy speaker issue by the govt has now fielded k Suresh as its candidate. Om Birla becomes the speaker for the second time with majority of the votes.
