  • We at Gallagher Guitar Co. are proud to call JP Cormier a friend. JP was born in London, Ontario and began playing guitar around age five. As a child he displayed an unusual ability to play a variety of instruments by ear and won a guitar contest at age nine. By age sixteen Cormier had recorded his first album (a collection of bluegrass instrumentals) and he began working the U.S. festival circuit. This led him to move to the United States and to begin working as a session musician. He continued to perform live on the festival circuit and at the Grand Ole Opry with country artists Waylon Jennings, Marty Stuart, Earl Scruggs, Bill Monroe and others. His professional career spans several decades, throughout which he's released multiple albums blending elements of folk, bluegrass, country, and Celtic music.
JP's skill as a multi-instrumentalist is often touted as his defining feature. His work showcases not only his deep understanding of various musical traditions, but also his knack for innovative and emotive compositions. A couple of our favorites are "Blackbird" and "Molly May." Beyond his performances, JP has established a reputation as an accomplished songwriter, writing poignant songs reflecting personal experiences and the world around him. Despite his broad range of talents, he is perhaps most well-known for his masterful guitar playing, particularly in the fingerstyle genre.
During the COVID pandemic, JP found a way to connect with others through TH-cam and his channel continues to provide a range of content from insightful knowledge about guitars, reviews of guitars and equipment, online concerts as well as his ability to laugh at himself and make others laugh along with him.

I agree. The best part of being in the guitar building world are the relationships we develop. You would know.
