Yeah, people now need to grow up and learn to separate the art from the artist, unless they're virtually inseparable. Those instances should be rare though.

Old school cartoons had meaning in them. Saturday morning cartoons with a bowl of cereal was awesome. The new cartoons I refuse to let my kids watch. I put the old school stuff on for them.
This is probably the finest effort by Bill Cosby, even better than The Cosby Show. This show managed to teach valuable lessons without being overly preachy like other shows produced by Filmation that came out around the same time (like their animated version of The Brady Kids, Lassie's Rescue Rangers, Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek, My Favorite Martians, The New Adventures of Gilligan, The Archies, Isis, Tarzan, Lord of the Jungle, the Groovie Goolies, Fabulous Funnies, Mighty Mouse and Heckle & Jeckle, Flash Gordon, The New Adventures of Batman, Tom & Jerry Comedy Show, Shazam!, He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, etc.). Also, the show had memorable characters such as Russell (based on Cosby's own brother), Weird Harold, Dumb Donald and, of course, Fat Albert. This will always be one of the great series in the history of Saturday morning programming.
The Cosby Show pretty much showed how he was towards African-Americans by then then this was around the time he expected people to call him doctor Cosby it's no wonder the African-American Community didn't have his back when he went to court

Yeah, speaking as someone with a major physical difference (missing an eye, crooked nose, webbed fingers) I was pretty annoyed at Wheeler. I get his feeling though, he's self-conscious but that is something people like me have to overcome. I learned long ago to be confident, take every social opportunity I can and do not allow my disability to define me or let others define me by it.

They cared what color the other kid was, a lot. and how much money you had, and what groups you belonged to and how long your hair was. This show was trying to help curb that attitude. The 70s were extremely hostile, and this show tried to help children who hadn't been "corrupted" yet make sense of the chaos around them, their parents, and their schools. Sesame street started doing the same thing in the 80s. shows like these were really healthy for young children who were constantly exposed to drugs, gangs, abuse, murder, rape, eye-for-eye attitudes and other tragedies of humanity. Kids whos families were emotionally broken could turn to these shows to try and understand what to do and how to act.
