Not according to the internet if you went on it during this era. I swear people have been saying "SNL hasn't been funny in 10 years" for about 40 years
Unfamiliar with when he stated it, just curious if there is a reason you stated An as opposed to A. It being in all caps made me feel it was intended, but to my knowledge it's not the proper usage. Not trying to be as pedantic as I am, or snarky. Just genuinely curious.
1000%. Came here to say the same thing. People LOVED to shit on these casts at the time, now we look back and realize they were just fucking STACKED with talent. The literal biggest names in comedy movies and TV today.
It’s been like that forever…. I remember when sandler and them first came on farley was just a belushi clone and on snd on… and then afterwards they were revered
I haven't seen much of the OG SNL episodes from the 70s or whatever and the Will Ferrell ones are amazing. But the cast from this era feels like family because I saw them in my formative years. Especially after Bobby Moynihan joined and Kenan reached the peak of his comedy powers. Nowadays, SNL does well of course, but I've lost that magical connection. Feels like it's time for a new generation to build their own memories with the show
This is the era I grew up on. I didn’t watch that much post 2013. Andy had already left, Seth was going to leave in 2014 for Late Nite. I was lucky that I was able to watch/fall asleep to SNL pretty much every Saturday night. When Lazy Sunday came out, Dear Sister, I Ran So Far. You name it. In my opinion, 07-10 were my favorite years. Though at the time, some people bitched about how it wasn’t as good was the previous generation etc.
recuerdo leer un poco el libro de Amy Poehler donde hay un capítulo en el que Seth Meyers habla sobre cómo la conoció antes de que entrara a SNL y fue un fanboy. Tan lindo.
Remember 2019 when Andy Samberg posted a selfie of himself in a t-shirt at home or whatever and the internet collectively broke down because everybody was like WAIT HE'S HOT?!? And a small subset of us were like "Well, well, well... and here we are. We weren't sure WHEN you'd arrive, but we did know you'd eventually come. Please, please... Sit." (There's no need to mention those so brain dead/unspeakably young that they didn't notice the Samberg Sauce until the wedding Megatron scene in "Palm Springs"... Pls, children. We done knew." Also HEY BILL you have no idea who I am because you were in 8th grade when I was in 6th grade with your sister Kara but we totally went to middle school together and I was at your house exactly once in 6th grade at a party - not sure why, because I was very much not cool - all I got is Kara WAS always super kind even if her friend Katie was not.

Tourist trap or lives up to the hype? IMHO, the answer is both: from a $$ perspective Katz is a tourist trap, but from a food perspective it does live up to the hype.
At the time they were considered horrible and not as funny as the Mike Myers 90's cast... the 90's cast at the time was considered horrible and not as funny as the Eddie Murphy 80's cast ... the 80's cast at the time was considered not as funny as the original 70's cast. Ok so complain about the current cast Ave check back in 20 years.
you gotta quit with the wii music background stuff. i want to watch this but that just takes me right out of it. such a played out bit, it really ruins it. I'll give you that it's at peast more subtle, but make it so subtle that you dont even hear it. it adds nothing. sorry, that's just a big peeve of mine that will lose my viewership every time. if more people enjoy it than hate it then alright, but i personally would watch this if the wii theme wasn't in the background.

Andy’s hair was its own cast member
This was the generation of SNL I grew up with and these people really helped shape my sense of humor particularly the Lonely Island and Bill Hader
My family 🩷🩷 especially Fred armisen
So funny to watch this and reminisce but also seeing Kenan be considered a 00s cast member is blowing my mind.
“This one’s black, a trailblazer”
I remember the consensus being SNL "sucked" back then and "wasn't as good as it used to be". Just goes to show you the beauty of hindsight
