Wow , that was a dandy looking burger for sure. I think that 22" griddle could keep a small family fed with no problems. I believe with that Griddle and a fair sized smoker a family would be in business without any troubles. Stay safe around there and keep up the fun. Fred.
I bought this for a steal, and I love it. You showed us how capable that griddle is by not just cooking a simple one step, 1 item burger, you maxed it by actually cooking 4 items at once. Your griddle space management was awesome, even shuffling around the beef fat too! Best griddle content on TH-cam! Salutes from an AF vet to a Navy vet.
Oh yeah! Burgers and cheesesteaks with caramelized fat tips and a bone to gnaw on afterwards! Rain in the forecast for the next three days, so the Blackstone will have to wait! Cheesesteaks sound good! Thanks Neal and Amy!
So glad to see you using a small griddle. Being single with a rare guest, I have been reluctant to buy one of those large griddles you cook on all the time. But this Blackstone 22" griddle is something that could fit my life style. Thanks!
We have a 22" Members Mark that we take camping and it is a little more temperamental compared to I'm sure what a larger griddle does. Also cooking out in the woods, you don't have the protection of a porch as you are usually out on the open. As always, you have me thinking of yanking our Steelmade out for the hubby and making some of these while I'm off during the holidays! Hope you both have a wonderful holiday season!!
I so wish we could get that bright orange American cheese in Australia. It always looks so good. I imagine it's like the cheese on McDonald's burgers, which I love. I'd be happy just to have the cheese if I went to McD's!!!! I really need to visit the US!
Really like the orange griddle it’s the one of all three colors that I liked. That burger looks amazing. Made me feel hungry by looking at that burger Neal. Again another amazing cook 👍🏽. Have an awesome day.
You all I bought a 36 first and my wife had surgery and can't eat for a while all my cooks are on the 22 and am loving it. Just saying. It works great for different situations. Glad to see you use it. It has its place. Can't drag a 36 camping either. Or on the pontoon boat. Lol
I started with that little 22 and still use it for my RV. Very wind and cold weather sensitive. Once I got the biggest 4 zone, everything changed. I learned to duplicate your cooks on the little one, but the big one is a blast. I now leave the pizza oven attachment on the 22 full time in my garage kitchen. Need a link for those wind guards for when I go camping though.
hey Great idea...the wind guards or literally from Dollar Tree...1.25 each...douch cutter int the kitchen area..I have to admit..for camping and traveling the 22 definitely can help...but man its small..hhaahha
Wow, that was a great looking sandwich. Now I'm starving, LOL. Another really great recipe and video. Keep them coming, we love you both here in Preskitt, AZ.
Just bought this griddle to replace the larger 29”. Just the two of us and we wanted something portable for camping. The Cheesesteak Burgers look amazing! As usual…
Thanks for the tip. Our Publix now has whole bone in ribeye or standing rib roast for $6.99/lb. Off tomorrow to stock up. Our 22" is hard to get the temps right but so far so good with the cooks. Gonna try this one soon.
Awesome!! I think less metal makes for a more needed heat source. When we cook on the big guys, there's more steel to retain the heat, and we get more residual heat. Anyway, these look slamming as always!! I'll have to post my Shake That potatoes soon! Have a great day guys!!
The 22-inch Blackstone is very popular and a great griddle for so many getting into griddlin. Perfectly timed with the low prices for Christmas specials. Thanks for the good cook and another griddle top recipe. Your burger variations are the best. We permanently installed the wind guards on the 36 as well as the 22 inch. It does make a very good difference in heat control, especially in cold weather winds. Merry Christmas to all!! God Bless.
That looks like a great burger, thanks for sharing it. I love my 22" Blackstone. I used it all last summer cooking for Appalatian Trail hikers along the trail. I have wind guards on all the time because of wind in the mountains. Once I learned my heat zones, per ypur advice, and metered out portions I was able to put out several meals at a time. My setups were on a folding table or the tailgate of my truck, so I had to work small. I've learned sereral tricks watching your channel, thank you. Sir Stops Alot Stops Trailside Cafe
Neal, I am so GLAD to see you do this cook! I only have room for a tabletop flat iron (mine is only 17”), and trying to use it compared to what you’ve had in the past is a challenge. This is really important to many of us. Thank you again for all you & especially your wife do for us!
Neal you need to do a cook book…….you have an advantage with your learning to cook in the Navy and expanding on that over the years add in Tips and Tricks and your arsenal of grilling apparatus. Your cookbook can be divided up by the grilling type. I think it would be excellent!
Looking pretty good. I have a nice 36 in Blackstone and a more portable option of the single burner (Pro-30) Camp Chef with the optional legs. I may try this s one on the Camp Chef the next time I'm I parked on the beach on the Galveston coast for an all-day surf fishing day.
That looks so tasty Neal!! Out this way we have pastrami burgers but not cheese steak burgers. Going to have to give that a roll some time. Thanks for another amazing video!
@@TheFlatTopKing Heck yeah Neal!! It is of absolute importance that you order the burger double double animal style. Also, order the fries as animal fries. It has to be consumed right away and not get cold. If the fries get cold there is no bringing them back to life. When you order the burger animal style it has a top coating of mustard that they fry it in when they flip it. They also use grilled onions in between both patties. So tasty!
thanks man my 22 inch adventure with cover and stand for 185 at wally world was a steal. that is my first flat top and as it just the wife and I we use it at home and out with the RV. I have done blackened redfish with a crawfish Etouffee over the top and it was a hit at the RV park. I have done hibachi i'm sure not on your level but good and a fraction of the cost of Osaka or one of the other chains. still learning and will watch all of your 22 inch videos. I use the lid also as a dome sometimes. The w sauce is the best also been using that a while thanks to meat church.
When you first started trimming that rib eye I was like "Put that on the griddle" I wasn't even thinking about using it like you did, I just wanted to sear, and cook it down, add some seasoning and eat it all. Hopefully you slid a few down as a snack. The burger looked awesome. That Worcestershire sauce I would really like to know was the taste the same as Lea and Perrin's but just thick or was it it's own special taste. Burger looked awesome. I have the 28 inch on the stand and my wife loves it. I think that extra six inches makes a difference, but I can see how the 22 inch works too. Great Video!
There is a chain burger place called Mugshots that makes this burger....it is my go to there. Looking at getting one of these griddles and came across your channel. I'll be watching more videos for ideas!
Hello my name is Michael from Minnesota I mention it to you before that the company I work for gave all the employees a 22 inch Griddle for Christmas. I told them to go to your channel The Flat Top King to learn about the griddle I'm subscribe and looking at the videos Thank you so much. Happy Holidays to you and your family From Michael & Stormy my beautiful wife.
Playing with a little music track mixed in - well done Amy. Maybe lower the video audio while the music is playing? More of a montage feel? Just spitballing... Looks amazing as always Neil!
Neil... These burgers look so darn good, I always find your videos at 2 AM now I'm hungry. I have a question for you. I recently bought one of the Blackstone pizza ovens that uses the 22 inch griddle base. What I would like to find is an actual griddle surface for the 22 inch base so if I decide to go camping I would be able to take the 22 inch griddle minus the pizza oven top unit. Any ideas on where to get the griddle surface? I checked at Blackstones website but nothing there. Amazon has some but they seem to be the ceramic ones like you would find on the E-Series griddles.
To be honest try a metal shop...the may just be able to make them for you...a little more pricey but traditionally thicker material would benefit in this situation
Well, think about it in terms of simple physics. It has less mass so it can hold fewer total heat calories, in terms of total energy. Also, the heating elements are smaller, so it will take more time to develop and create that heat energy. You can't compensate by just running it wide open when starting, or that high temp will screw up the coating on the griddle surface. My best idea? When using this smaller one, start off on ~40% on the dials, and set a timer for ~10 min, to let it heat up and build that energy in it. Then, start using it the same way you use your big one after about 2 min on ~60% gas. Check your temps and so forth, see where it's at. We don't often think in terms of the total energy of the heat of the griddle, or of the oven, but it's the total heat energy applied to the food that cooks it to whatever level. And that bigger griddle is going to hold more heat energy, not just on the cook surface, but in the total of all the metal of the unit. I'm looking forward to getting a griddle myself; right now I just have a piece that lays across the left two burners of my stove. I can do some of this stuff, but not like you can. Good video, thanks for sharing!
