Just ordered one. Now I’m wondering if keep or get the cutout No flipper after seeing some preferences towards those. Either way, I’m sold on these blade shapes after getting a flat iron. I found myself grabbing it more than my Spyderco. It’s just way too big so wanted a smaller, light one like the mini here.
I watched so many good reviews on this knife that I bought one from someone selling online. he was selling a mini and an XL
I honestly don't know why they get great reviews.
the mini......the liner spring is really stiff and there's no cut out on the show side for your thumb to release the lock up. so closing it is a two handed deal trying to get your finger nail in between the liners.
the flipper tab is sharp and pointy on your finger if you open it a lot you're going to feel it. it's an easy fix with some emery cloth though.
but another minor detail that drives me nuts is the ball detent, when you close the blade there's no ramp or chamfer to ease the ball bearing onto the blade so there's a definite stop where you have to push to overcome the ball bearing.
the XL has the same problems except it has a very slight cutout to access the liner lock but the spring is so thick and stiff that it's almost as bad as the mini. the flipper tab is sharp and uncomfortable as well. I saw a video where a guy reprofiled the flipper tab and made it more user friendly
it also has no ramp for the ball bearing to smoothly ride up onto the blade but it's not as bad since there's at least a bit of a cut out to press the liner lock to unlock
maybe it's just me being nitpicky but every time I buy a China made knife I end up having to dehorn and debur all the sharp hot spots, give it some texture, and do all kinds of mods to make it user friendly. I use my knives. to me they're just tools. I don't collect them or have any safe queens
But you can see he’s clearly closing the knife with one hand.
It's a fun little sucker. I did dremel out the show side scale/liner for better access to the lock bar. Huge improvement. Might add a detent ball ramp next. All for funsies... And the VG10 is more than adequate for what this is.
Ive had one for a while now, the build quality on mine is perfection. Detent is on point, no lock stick, drops shut at such at satisfying speed. I thought it would be a little weird in the pocket but you dont notice it at all
Mine has a double detent. It the 154cm version. Yours drop shuts?

Yo! MC, thanks for ur channel. I just mine today from Going Gear in their Green Micarta build and love this little thing. It has an immediate addictive flipper action. This disproportionately heavy blade makes for a weirdly perfect balance. This is my 2nd Kizer and they are both great values and I will add more Kizers to my stash. The fact that you threw one of ur beloved Hinderers in this video for a finite comparison speaks volumes about the attraction of this little knife. I grabbed my two Hinderers and started flipping the 3 of them. Keep em coming
Been going back and forth on this knife for a while, I love it, but usually only buy USA made knives. And been carrying the same small Sebenza 21 for 4 years so I don’t really need any new knives. But your review pushed me over the edge lol just ordered the green version.
Ive had this knife in my cart several times, just havent pulled the trigger on it yet...the size is holding me back...but looks like one I might have to buy for the collection.
Lemon hoko the mini is very very small - I have the titanium and I’m thinking of returning for the full size which is only 34 bucks more , but you don’t get the GOLD CLIP that you get with the mini in blue. Made me have to sleep on it. I really want this gold clip coming out of my pocket and I could use the mini well, but the regular has more material. Hard to choose !
Love your videos. I’m venturing into getting my first nicer knife beyond the cheapies that I’ve had in the past. I’ve been interested in the micarta/ bd1n version of this knife. Would you say this is still a solid little edc blade for someone with a medium hand? Thank you and happy holidays!

Sizes: Mini / Full / XL with a rumor as of March 2020 XXL is coming. I bought the blue mini 154 for $69.
Just bought the new limited edition mini. Cant wait to get it after hearing about all the hype.
It may have been made in China but it was designed by chris conaway from lenexa Kansas he owns sheepdog knives.

Yours doesn't seem to have the double detent. When I go to close it moves a little then I have to push it again. I have the carbon fiber with 154cm
What is your top pick for belt edc multitools? I want to buy one but don't exactly know which.
